Ethan Hunt, or Gosh Jarden as he's known now, has evolved from a middle of the pack quarterback to a solid replacement for Josh Garden. Transitioning from quarterback to wide receiver was definitely a difficult decision for the youngster, but he has been able to step comfortably into his new role as a quick, intelligent and very agile receiver. While Jarden will never be able to live up to the hype of becoming a franchise mobile quarterback, he can become a solid complementary piece for the Yellowknife Wraiths as the team retools and pushes for the NSFL post-season. He's already notched up 2 touchdowns as the Wraiths' third-string wide receiver.
And Jarden's only just getting started. With a moderate risk but high reward for the Wraiths, the signing has looked solid so far. Rumors of being a locker room cancer, and public condemnations from the San Jose Sabercats management have looked to be blown out of proportion. Aside from on-field production, Jarden brings veterancy and leadership stability to the Wraiths, and has transitioned from aspiring star to someone who's helping to groom the future of the Yellowknife Wraiths. Could we look back in a few years and acknowledge that the Jarden signing was a good idea? Perhaps, but right now it's still a bit too soon to tell. Quote:218 words
Today I'm going to talk about the best free agent that hit the market.
Vincent Sharpei was really stepping up as a leader in the San Jose Organization and when he declared he was going to hit free agency, it was a pretty big blow to us all. He assured us that he was just testing to gauge interest and see what was up, giving us hope that he would return to the promised land. The best OL hitting free agency garnered some decent offers, however nothing enough to prevent him from coming back. One thing that probably had a massive impact was the influx of cheap quality offensive lineman being brought in that could replace many of the offensive lineman in the league. This probably prevented him from a huge pay day which is unfortunate. The good news is he is so talented, he resigned with San Jose Sabercats and immediately started preparing to take over as our middle linebacker. The Sabercats had linebacker issues since day 1. Vincent is now second in league for tackles really bolstering what the solid defensive line and great secondary at San Jose has to offer. Having their player choose to go to free agency and come back to us felt like a huge win and definitely the best free agency pick up we could have asked for. 225 words @Muford Code: 207 words Though contenders are typically built through drafting and developing talent then locking them up long term to shelter them from the scary world of free agency, acquiring UFAs can be a great way of adding a piece or two to add to or supplement a core, push a team over the top, or bring experience and/or personality to a locker room. In this light, the addition of Phillippe Carter has been a success on all counts for the Las Vegas Legion. Carter's immediate impact was a revival of the Legion discord (along with sign-and-trade acquisition Wyatt Fulton) which was further augmented with subsequent trades and acquisitions. There's a reason Keygan goes on and on and on about discord numbers. Then when the season started Carter continued doing good things for the Legion, recording 25 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 5 pass deflections through 5 games and helping lead them to 2 wins already - a below .500 record may not seem like something to write home about but that's already matched last season's total and has them 1 game out of a playoff spot. The future is as bright as lights on the strip for the Las Vegas Legion and Phillippe Carter is a major reason for that.
The biggest acquisition made this offseason has to be the Baltimore Hawks offensive line. When the announcement was made, many believed these individuals wouldn’t be able to go all the way. Things like worn out, dried up, and impotent were used to describe them. How could a gang of aging adult star be effective in the NSFL? All these individuals, who made millions creating and exploiting gaping holes, would now need close the gap and prevent the defensive rush from penetrating into the backfield. But in a game of inches, this group reigns supreme. Most recently, the gang was able to double team (which they are proficient) Jayce Tuck and hold him to zero sacks. He was beat off the line for 60 minutes and I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t walk right for a week. Even the running game has benefitted from their presence. Owen Taylor just keeps pounding away. You want to load 8 men in the box? This teams calls that a party. Now, after 5 weeks have passed, we can see just how well they have performed when thrust into action. Collectively, they have allowed just 6 sacks, while guard Dirk Diggler and tackle Ron Jeremy are 2nd and 4th respectively in pancakes. Experts have attributed this to both men being able to get into a 3 point stance while remaining fully upright. We can see that their work ethic has infected the locker room as more Baltimore receivers are going deep every chance they get.

Philippe Carter is a beautiful match with Las Vegas. Joining a Las Vegas team that had a barren roster at the end of S3 was raised as questionable to some, but undoubtedly there were many factors that convinced Carter. One of them was the stockpile of rookies on the squad. The Legion picked eight times in the S4 draft, which included many DSFL stars, such as Blackford Oakes and Shawn Ariel. Also, another factor for Carter was Wyatt Fulton. It is no secret that Fulton and Carter are great friends, and most likely wanted to play for each other. So when Fulton was traded to the Legion, the Legion knew that they were going to secure Carter. Carter is also good friends with a good many of the players on the Legion, and it makes sense that Carter would want to play with teammates who are enjoyable. On the playing field, this makes fantastic sense. The Legion were needing a #1 CB badly, as the season before, they had Leon Morgan and Stanislaw Maddox as their two guys, a weak unit. Carter makes this secondary look so much better, and it's just what the Legion needed. Both on and off the field, this deal makes sense.
The Las Vegas Legion shed the tainted skin of former General Manager Tyler Varga and promoted two in-house candidates in Ardie Savea and Connor Tanner and ownership has to be beyond pleased with the results thus far. Already possessing two wins on the year and one game from .500, the Legion look to actually have become a formidable team to play against. A massive part of this is from the off-season when future league record setter Wallace Stone took the charge to change from offensive line to quarterback. Standing at a massive 6'8'', Stone brings the big bodied, stand in the pocket and make the right throws to a Legion team who was tired of having a quarterback make the wrong read consistently. Also coming to the Legion were elite level players in Wyatt Fulton and Phillipe Carter. Fulton, fresh off a season that saw him win defensive player of the year, came from a solid but underperforming Wraiths squad to an abysmal Legion team. Why he chose to do that isn't overly known but many tie connections to former GM Tyler Varga have pursued interest in making sure Fulton would come to Las Vegas and using their friendship as a factor. Carter and Fulton made a joint decision for free agency and fresh off a championship in Arizona, he was probably looking for a challenge, a new way to prove himself as a player. Well to anybody who didn't realize what kind of talent Carter was, you better start noticing now. ![]()
There has been much of talk of Free Agent Acquisitions this year. There was Josh Garden and Gosh Jarden, WRs going to different teams. Mayran Jackson and Vincent Sharpei stayed in San Jose and star Quarterback Chris Orosz re signed with Yellowknife only to be shipped off to San Jose.
Many people have said that the Hawks had a very quiet off season and that it was disappointing. Those in Baltimore disagree. First off, the team hired an excellent squad of sex robots to be their offensive line. They have Sasha Grey, Leila Star, Ron Jeremy, Dirk Diggler and Riley Steele. The Offensive line so far for the hawks has been an absolute strength and adding these pieces has been enormous. In addition the Hawks made several changes. The backfield of the Baltiore Hawks is almost entirely new. Star offensive lineman Avon Blocksdale is now the quarterback. He is handing off to none other than defensive end turned running back Owen Taylor. In front of Taylor we have another offensive lineman Dieter Koch. While Koch has been an awesome blocker this year, what's been the most surprising are his hands. Koch has been incredibly reliable out of the back field. Overall the Hawks, in spite of not acquiring any traditional FA's are in good shape. |
