Do you take after your father more (Chess) or your mother (Smallwood)
(10-12-2018, 04:01 PM)iseedoug Wrote:Are you the love child of the great Sabercats RB Darren Smallwood? Well, I'll say this. I am indeed the son of Sabrecats RB Darren Smallwood but I wouldn't dare go as far to say that I am the child of the "great" RB Darren Smallwood. My other parent is Outlaws great, and two-time tainted world champion CA Chess, now that guy was a great. He was correctly selected before Smallwood in the draft, but that's neither here nor there. Smallwood is a good father to me, as is Chess. They are both all-time greats in parenting -- but football wise only one of them is an all-time great and that is of course CA Chess. I hope this answers your excellent question sufficiently. Thanks so much, and I look forward to corresponding with you further. (10-12-2018, 04:03 PM)iamslm22 Wrote:Do you take after your father more (Chess) or your mother (Smallwood) Well, first off they're both my dads. They both did a great job, I mean on the football field I'd like to say I'm more like Chess Dad because Chess Dad was pretty damn great back in the day with the Outlaws. Smallwood dad is, of course, a pro football player but to compare him to Chess is kind of funny in my opinion. But again, as a parent Smallwood was really good. Footballwise, meh. Take em or leave em. You know what I mean? However, it is worth noting that I am a runningback just like Smallwood Dad. But, of course at the start of his career he was a Wideout but he changed it once he realized that he wouldn't ever make it to the level of Chess dad. But most of all I am really quite glad that they put aside their differences and admitted their love for each other. That was really something special, and they've done a great job as parents. A lot of people will forget that Chess and Smallwood had a heated rivalry, but now they're friends. They run a damn baseball team together -- that's awesome. How many people can say that their professional football playing dads also run a baseball team? Not many. I can though. Thank you for the question, what is your name, Slm? Yeah, thanks I appreciate it. Hey, you kind of look like this guy on my dads' (plural) baseball team with the last name Rodriguez, do you know him?
how does it feel to be the product of two legendary football players, one of whom has been a 2 time opoty and 1 time mvp? do you feel like theres a chip on your shoulder?

It's an interesting question. I suppose to an extent yes I do feel a limited amount of pressure to live up to the success of my fathers (plural) but also I know they support me. Genetically I think I am predisposed to both team and individual success. Through Father Checkers I get my genes that allow me to win largely pointless personal awards, as you mention, such as Offensive Player of the Year or Most Valuable Player. Through my father CA Chess I am given the ability to succeed with my team, as he assembled some of the most successful teams as a General Manager of the Arizona Outlaws. Granted, it turns out the Outlaws were cheating and those championships come with an asterisk but in the same regard it is a true championship pedigree. Going forward I look to make a name for myself while honoring the legacies of my fathers who are now both retired.... wait, I forgot -- Checkers hasn't retired yet. But still. |
