Deadline Saturday, July 29th, 11:59 PM PST (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - Bwestfield - 07-24-2017 This is an easy one for me. I cannot wait to face off against Isiah Rashad. In every meeting we had he had intercepted the ball intended for me. This happened far too many times. One might think that it happened 3-4 times… which is too many, but no… you would be wrong. It happened 7 times! 7, that’s more than most players had touchdowns. Those were just passes from Boss to me and no one else. You might look at it and see that he only got 3 other interceptions all year from other QB’s but this guy clearly knows my routes and what steps I’m going to take. If I go left, he goes left, if I go right he goes right. If that weren’t enough it’s like he is reading my mind. So I don’t know if he has some sort of ability that only works on me or if I’m just that predictable. But I will tell you that I have been working all offseason to remedy that situation and I can’t wait to get in there and show him my new moves. I have trained tirelessly to work on my agility, speed, intelligence, hands, and endurance to simply beat this man. My goal this year is to not let him get an interception for a ball heading my way. If it happens again this year I may have to pull a Nancy Kerrigan on his ass. Rashad, you better watch out, Boss and I are going to light you up all day. @Destroyer (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - manicmav36 - 07-24-2017 Despite the fact that we may never be on the field at the same time, the player I'm most excited to compete against would have to be Drew Davidson, rookie defensive end for the Philadelphia Liberty. Drew was the first in a run of three defensive ends taken to start the third round and the second overall behind Blaster Blade. I was the very next pick, and Enchilada Charlton was right after me. Although I have no ill-will towards either one of these guys, as the both seem like pretty nice people, going back to back to back in the draft will forever mean we will be constantly compared to each other. If we played both the SaberCats and Liberty in the pre-season, Davidson would be my 1a and Charlton would be my 1b. Unfortunately, we don't get to play the SaberCats until week three of the regular season. As it looks right now, all three of us will be day one starters, and as such, it will be easy to make comparisons. Although situations may differ a little between us, it will definitely be interesting to see how everything turns out at the end of the year. I wish them both the best of luck with their seasons, but... sorry fellas, I'm coming out on top. Word Count: 217 (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - HENDRIX - 07-24-2017 The Baltimore Hawks are most excited to face off against the Las Vegas Legion in the first week of the preseason. It's not that there is a rivalry between these two teams yet, it's about finally getting back on the field after a long offseason and finally getting a chance to see how the Hawks overhauled roster performs. There are a whopping fourteen new starters that will be taking the field for the Hawks. For the roster it has been a long, hot, and hard summer of training. Players on the team have been getting sick and tired of practicing against themselves all summer and will now finally have different people to hit and tackle. Preseason also offers a chance to try out several different lineups and a plethora of strategies and play calling styles. It is a good experimentation time with no consequence. Data on everything will be gathered and be used to help formulate game plans for the beginning of the regular season. Due to this strategy and lineup experimentation, pre season performance should be taken with a grain of salt, because we saw last year how the team won all four games in the preseason, but only four total in the regular season as well. (208) (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - timeconsumer - 07-24-2017 Angus Winchester would be most excited to face off against Jayce Tuck in the preseason. But The Otters don't play against the Outlaws in preseason this year. So instead Winchester is looking forward to facing off against Blaster Blade. It is well known that Angus Winchester's only sack given up in the first season of the NSFL was when lining up against Blaster Blade in the playoffs. He has made no excuses for the mistake, only vowed to improve during the offseason to prevent it from happening again. Winchester was quoted after the game as saying: "I just got beat. He had a quick first step and got the edge, swung underneath my reach and it was over. I could have done better, and I've watched that play on film a dozen times since then." So as we await week 4 of preseason with baited breath we are left to wonder, will Winchester's dedication this offseason lead to a better showing against DE Blade come their next matchup? Or will Blade's offseason improvements of his own be showcased again against season one's best lineman? Countless fans will be watching this duel between two top talents to see which player comes out on top. @Blaster (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - Esa77 - 07-24-2017 Heading into Pre-season Reg Mackworthy is very excited to go up against fellow Running Back Bubba Nuck. In a previous PT Nuck was quoted as saying "He'd love if he could call Mackworthy a rival, but a rival has to be someone who is in the same class as him and Reg was not even close" Or something along those lines, lol. Well last season we were not able to see the true Mackworthy as he was in a time share with a 19th round pick, but this season the backfield belongs to Reg and we're about to see the most dominant performance by a running back in league history. Last year Bubba Nuck was the man, no question, he had a ton of carries, yards and quite a few touchdowns. He set the bar for all others to follow. I'm most looking forward to showing that Mackworthy is on par and even above Ol' Nuck in pre-season. Should be a good match up. I expect Reg to run wild all over the Wraiths Defense and Nuck to watch in awe as Mackworthy flashes his skills. With any luck Bubba Nuck will learn a thing or two from the 5'8" 225 dynamo that is Reg Mackworthy as he leads the Arizona Outlaws to victory. You heard it here first, S2 will be the year of Mackworthy. (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 07-24-2017 The matchup that I am most looking forward to is our game in week 3 of the preseason against the Arizona Outlaws. This is likely going to be one of our most challenging matchups in the preseason in terms of the defenses that we have to face and I think it will be interesting to see how we fare. I am especially looking forward to going against Jayce Tuck. He’s a player of tremendous talent on a defensive unit that I have a lot of respect for. I certainly don’t think I’ll have the right to call him a rival anytime soon, but I’m always up for a challenge and pushing myself to the limit. As a rookie, I’m hoping to use the preseason to grow and learn more about how to be more effective on my team and in the league in general. What better way to figure that out than going against one of the best EDGE players in the league? If I can hold my own against him and that defensive line, I’ll feel pretty good about how far I’ve come already. And if I struggle, I’ll have tape to go look at later and I can use the experience to help determine the areas I need to focus in going forward. Regardless of how it goes, it should be a fun challenge and I’m hoping our offense can put up a good game against that solid defense. The Las Vegas Legion look to be a problem in the ASFL so it will be interesting to see how they do things in the pre-season. With WR Stormblessed being moved from his S1 home in Arizona to Las Vegas, the match up between him and Kendrick Hendrix in week 3 of the pre-season will be interesting to watch. Which of these young receivers will show up? Is Stormblessed too good for pre-season? Will he simply take it easy? Regardless, I know Kendrick Hendrix is going to show up with a chip on his shoulder. There is currently no beef between the two, however, Stormblessed was the leading receiver who helped Arizona stomp out Colorado's flame in the S1 Ultimus game. Hendrix had one of his worst games yet in their last match up so I think he wants to come out and set the tone, show Stormblessed what taking an L motivated him to do in the off-season, touting a new arsenal of moves which can be used to finesse his way past the Legion's underwhelming DB corps. If Stormblessed thinks he's going to have his way with the Yeti defense again this season, he better think again. The DB corps of Colorado is more prepared to deal with the likes of a speedy receiver now, and it will be interesting to see if Stormblessed even sees as many targets as he did as an Outlaw in this suspect offense. Last year our record wasn't exactly good, however the team we did the best against was the Arizona Outlaws. I had my personal best against them and that always feels good. Luckily we start the preseason off facing them tonight. On top of that, they won the championship last year so if we can beat them, then that shows how formidable we can be as a team. My personal rivalry will be with Jayce Tuck. I'm going to see if I can beat down his offensive line better than he can beat down my own. I think he probably is more talented, but our offensive line is pretty great. I'm hoping that Vincent Sharpei and Ben Longshaw can keep him in check on the edge meanwhile I shred through the middle of their offensive line. He will probably pick up more sacks or TFL just based on his player design, but if our defense can limit the Arizona Oultaws offense efficiency to less then our own, then I'll call that a win. I was hoping that Draxel would be starting since I've really gotten a piece of him a number of times, but it doesn't look like that will be the case. Dan Miller, 211 words |
