In the inagural National Simulation Football League season the Yellowknife Wraiths were an early favorite to win the NSFC. The Wraiths ended up tying the Colorado Yeti for the best record in the NSFC at 8-6 but the Yeti earned the #1 seed since they had the better divisional record in the NSFC. In the playoffs the two teams faced off and the Yellowknife Wraiths came up short, losing to the Yeti 13-6.

Heading into S2 the Wraiths look to take a step forward and win the division outright. The team lost some key players to the expansion Las Vegas Legion via trade but were able to recoup some of the value in newly acquired rookies and future draft picks. They look to have a strong team on paper and if they can put it together have a legitimate shot at the Ultimus Trophy in S2 with a plethora of picks in the S3 draft. Today I am going to break down the offensive positional groups of the Yellowknife Wraiths.

Quarterback:
Starter: Chris Orosz @Aenir
The Wraiths are set up at QB with one of the best in the game. Chris Orosz won the award for Top QB in S1 and will look to repeat the accolade in S2. There are some other QBs in the league who are hot on his trail but Orosz has as good a shot as anyone to take home the award in S2. Orosz is a pocket passer with a well rounded game. He may not be the most athletic quarterback in the game but when he has time in the pocket he uses his strong arm, accurate touch, and football IQ as well as anyone in the league. His connection with Josh Garden is undeniable on the field and having S1 MVP Bubba Nuck behind him makes sure that teams cant sit back waiting for the pass which gives him more space and options when he drops back. I expect Chris Orosz to improve upon his S1 Top QB statistics and prove that the accomplishment was no fluke.

Running back:
Starter: Bubba Nuck @NUCK
Backup: Levon Novel @andybj
Fullback: Eric Kennedy @SwagSloth
Nobody would deny that Bubba Nuck is one of the best running backs in the entire NSFL. The 6'0 225lb speed back and reigning NSFL MVP and Top RB award winner led the NSFL in both rushing yards and rushing TDs as the workhorse for the Wraiths. His dominant season will be hard to replicate as Orosz develops into a more proficient passer but Nuck will still be the lead dog in the Wraiths backfield for S2.

Levon Novel was acquired in a trade from the Baltimore Hawks that brought him along with Damien West to the Wraiths. With Nuck being the unquestioned workhorse runner for the team there is rumblings around camp that Novel may transition into a defensive back role but so far they are unconfirmed. At this point in time Novel is playing running back in a spell role behind Bubba Nuck.

Eric Kennedy is a powerful runner who's best attribute is his strength. The power back out of LSU will be clearing the path for Bubba Nuck and Levon Novel for S2 and word around training camp is he is working on his explosiveness and his run blocking technique in anticipation of his new role as fullback. Keep an eye out for Eric Kennedy to be a quiet contributor for the Wraiths who could end up turning into a steal from the S2 draft.

Wide Receiver:
Split End (X): Josh Garden
Flanker (Z): Darren Smallwood @tlk742
Slot: Damien West @GoodLeftUndone
Josh Garden remains at his position on the left side of the field for the Yellowknife Wraiths. In S1 he spent most of his time there and Chris Orosz found him regularly. Garden finished the season leading the league in receiving yards and took home the award for Top WR in the NSFL. Garden will look to continue his success as both he and Orosz have been working hard to improve their games during the off season and help the Wraiths get the Glacies Trophy and into the NSFL Championship for a shot at the Ultimus Trophy.

The team lost Alexandre LeClair in the trade to the Las Vegas Legion and look to have found his replacement in the draft when they selected Darren Smallwood out of Beloit College. Smallwood is a beast of a human, standing 6'5" and coming in at 250lbs. He uses his big frame to his advantage in the red zone and has shown that he can be a target that Orosz can trust so far in the pre season. The team has only played 2 games and Smallwood already has 3 touchdowns. If Orosz keeps targeting him in the red zone I wouldn't be surprised to see Smallwood break Bradley Westfields S1 record of 8 receiving TDs.

The Wraiths have the best slot receiver in the NSFL with Damien West. The 5th overall pick in the S1 draft, Damien West had a very strong first season with the Baltimore Hawks. He racked up 1010 yards, good for fourth in the league and 75 catches, good for 2nd in the league. West fell out of favor with the Baltimore Hawks staff and was shipped off to the Yellowknife Wraiths where he will have a set role in the slot for the team. It will be a tough task for teams to try and cover all three of these receivers when they are on the field as it becomes more of a pick your poison type of situation for the defense. It will be an exciting season through the air for the Wraiths.

Tight End:
Starter: Ricky Maddox @SimmerDownBruhh
Backup: Josepher Kamby @WindyChi
Ricky Maddox is the best tight end in the NSFL. He didn't win the award for it in S1 and all that has done is motivate him even more to prove the doubters wrong. In the first pre season or S2 Ricky Maddox has given us a glimpse of what to expect out of him posting 10 catches for 75 yards. During the off season Maddox has put his nose to the grindstone and seperated himself from the rest of the tight ends in the league. There will be a couple other great tight ends in S2 but Maddox should end up as the unquestioned top tight end in S2.

There isn't much to say about Josepher Kamby. He is just a depth player who will fill in in the rare instance that Ricky Maddox needs to take a breather.

Offensive Line:
LT: Mat Akselsen @Bzerkap
LG: Matt James @MattJames
C: Zobot Bigboy17 @Bigboy17
RG: Tyron Smith @TyronSmith
RT: Jogn Floggity @Jogn
The Wraiths have two extremely strong offensive lineman in Mat Akselsen and Jogn Floggity with two young rookies they have each taken under their wings in Matt James and Tyron Smith. Holding down the center of the line is the incumbent Zobot Bigboy17. Sometimes loved and sometimes hated, Bigboy17 is the Richie Incognito of the Wraiths line. Akselsen and Floggity lock down the two tackle positions and both look to have added a solid amount of muscle in the off season. They will be teaching the two guards, Matt James and Tyron Smith. Matt James came in a trade from the Philadelphia Liberty after a very public contract negotiation went south. James has since found himself at home in Yellowknife and will become a mainstay on the Wraiths line at the guard position. Smith on the other hand has been quiet ever since he was drafted. He is starting at guard but as he develops his game further he will likely switch out to right tackle and Floggity will move to his more natural position of guard.

The Yellowknife Wraiths had the 2nd highest scoring offense in the league in S1. Heading into S2 the offense looks even stronger and will be gunning for the #1 spot that the Arizona Outlaws held in S1. The Wraiths have the weapons to get there and will be tested all season by the strong defense of the Colorado Yeti and newly beefed up Baltimore Hawks. The Philadelphia Liberty look to be building with a young team but they may surprise the league with some strong performances and upsets this season. These are the teams the Wraiths will face the most this season. They will try their best to stop the Yellowknife Wraiths potent offense.

Did the Wraiths offense not outscore the Outlaws Offense in S1? Our defense just scored a lot.

No, Arizona's offense scored more TDs AND had more yards, just also had more turnovers.

It's awfully bold to pin the medal on Ricky Maddox after one preseason game, no doubt he will do everything in his power to come out on top this season. I honestly expected Maddox or Bottles to have it in S1 but Tenzini surprised us all, I expect to make my own argument as well this season.
