On draft day Bradley sat in bed with his wife by his side and baby in his bassinet. He watched patiently as players were picked and his name was not called. He knew that he would be picked later in the draft but he wasn't sure when. Coming from a small school (University at Buffalo) there was not much tape to view and that added to the drop in his value. He wondered for some time if maybe his name might not get called. He knew he had the talent. He even spoke to some teams about interest. Surely his words and tapes would speak for themselves. Bradley stopped paying attention to the draft board for awhile and was talking to his wife about plans for the future with their newly found family. It was then that he heard his name. In his excitement he yelled out "Yes!" Much to his dismay his wife already giving him the glare of death he realized he had woken the baby who was quietly sleeping after a long day. After a long night of apologizing I was able to get some questions from him.
Me: How do you feel about being picked 72nd overall?
Bradley: Honestly it feels great. I envisioned myself picked high but I definitely am glad I was picked.
Me: So you were picked by the Otters. Do you see that working out long term?
Bradley: For sure. I immediately got along with my teammates and got to know the playbook. It will be exciting to see what preseason has to bring.
Me: Where on the depth chart are you?
Bradley: Currently Robert Phelps and I are listed as the number 1 receiver. We were told by the coaching staff that we wont have our final place until preseason is almost finished and they see a winner. I can see us being swapped out for the number 1 spot throughout the season. Robert is an amazing talent and he will be great to work with.
Me: I see that you signed for 3 years $9 million. Tell me a bit about that.
Bradley: The GM had let us know that he was offering us all the same deal of 2 million per year for 3 years. I accepted the terms of the agreement to later find out that he had changed those agreements to 3 million per year instead of 2. Having a great contract like that just pushes me harder to thrive as I have high expectations.
Me: Are you hopeful for the playoffs this year?
Bradley: Oh definitely, We have some amazing talent this year on both sides of the football. We have great depth and skill at every position. A lot of people already have us pegged as the NSFL Champions. To be the inaugural champions would be such an honor.
Me: So what's next?
Bradley: I need to get back to training. This is hard work and I need to be preparing for the season. Thank you for your time.
Me: No Bradley, thank you!
I think we will see more of this guys name called in the future. He has all the physical attributes to make an impact, let's see if he has all the other necessary traits.
