Hey guys, Professor Chaos again! I'm here to announce that we will be inducting another class into our team's Hall of Fame.
For quick reference, here's a list of our previous inductees:
Class of S10
Now for the actual announcement. We've had a handful of key players retire over the last few seasons & a few that were seriously considered for this class of Hall of Famers, but at the end of the day, we've elected to just induct 1 player today.
To the majority of the league, this player may not be viewed as quite the slam dunk that Sharpei & Miller were, but I assure you he was just as vital to the team on the field as anyone. One of the last 2 original SaberCats remaining before retiring after last season, this player ranks 1st in franchise history in receptions (668), receiving yards (10,823) & receiving TDs (50), all while only being tabbed the "#1 guy" for a handful of games throughout his career. What truly made him one of the elite talents in NSFL history though was his work on special teams. Not only did he finish his career as the franchise leader in return yards (10,847) & all-purpose yards (21,670), but he ended up as the all-time leader league-wide in return yards & 3rd in all-purpose yards. Now with all those numbers aside, if you haven't already figured it out, I'm of course referring to the legendary Shane Weston. @Symmetrik thank you for your loyalty to the franchise, which won't soon be forgotten & a spectacular, yet somehow unheralded career.
With this honor, Weston's #81 will be retired in San Jose alongside Vincent Sharpei's #54 & Dan Miller's #68.
