With pick number 1, the Norfolk Seawolves select CB Emondov Emoji!
141 TPE (Rank 1), username BWIII (a recreate)
There's not really any question about this, or at least there shouldn't be. Emoji is one of the best DSFL prospects since Kazimir Oles, has a reputation as a max earner from his last player, and is a respected member of the league. Plus, the Seawolves are building a team from scratch. If they don't trade down here, Emoji is the best possible selection for them - they can basically erase one entire half of the field on defense. He is a stud in the making, and the Seawolves should be thankful they get to draft him.
With pick number 2, the Palm Beach Solar Bears select LB Johnny Slothface!
137 TPE (Rank 2), username slothfacekilla
Slothface is a fantastic prospect in his own right, a front-seven anchor who will instantly make the Solar Bears' defense better. He's not new to sim leagues, meaning he can claim welfare and that he knows his way around, and he also has a nice balanced build. With Slothface running the defense, Palm Beach can work on the rest of their roster before revisiting front 7. You might wonder why I don't have them taking a QB here, and the answer is that I think good QBs will be available in the later rounds. They don't need to be aggressive and burn an early pick on Landers when they can sit around and fill out the roster, then snag Lange with a later pick.
With pick number 3, the Portland Pythons select LB Allen Josh!
133 TPE (Rank 3), username NamelessNate (a recreate)
Josh is faster than Slothface, meaning more positional versatility, but the difference is negligible and Slothface has the TPE jump on Josh (admittedly including the horribly unfair rookie PT that's not actually a rookie PT). Not to mention, Josh's user has an unfortunate history of going inactive in this league. LB isn't a huge need for the Pythons, but I think Portland will try to go BPA in this deep draft and get as many good pieces as they can.
With pick number 4, the San Antonio Marshals select DT Ricardo Morris!
105 TPE (Rank 7), username Roly (a recreate)
In terms of TPE, Morris seems like a bit of a reach here. However, Roly is a respected member of the -- wait wait wait 124715! you just said NamelessNate's inactivity problem was a knock on him, but now you're using Roly's name as a plus! what gives?? Well, first of all, Roly's activity while he was here was very impressive, and second of all, he plays a valuable position. He's first among the very few DTs in TPE by a country mile, and even if he does go inactive he can still be a role player. I did consider Marshall for the Marshals here, but I think they'll stick true to their defensive philosophy, snag a few later round RBs, and roll out the RBBC. Not to mention, Roly was once the GM of the Marshals...
With pick number 5, the Kansas City Coyotes select CB Xerxes Ridley!
102 TPE (Rank 9), username plantane
Ridley made a splash with a certain media article, before which he wasn't really talked about as a prospect. Kansas City's CB group is a little underwhelming, and while their pass defense was solid last year, they'll need to step it up this year with a new influx of offensive talent. Ridley gives them a high-ceiling player that can make plays. They'll be a bit bummed to miss out on Morris, as their run defense was atrocious last year, but Ridley is a fantastic player that they can build around for the next season or two.
With pick number 6, the Tijuana Luchadores select S Richard D'Attoria V!
123 TPE (Rank 4), username 124715 (a recreate)
(disclaimer: this is my player) Speaking of awful defenses, feast your eyes upon the Tijuana Luchadores. Their passing defense was worse than either bot team last year, and they surrendered a dreadful 21.3 points per game. D'Attoria V bills himself as a S/LB hybrid, although the wrestley bois will want him playing deep to tighten up the pass defense a little bit. D'Attoria V is no stranger to Tijuana either: he played 5 games there last season as a waiver pickup.
BONUS SEGMENT!
QB and RB top 8
I thought I'd add this since there are no QBs up here and since i picked so much defense.
#1: Jay Longshaw(89 TPE) [rank 14 among all draftees]
Longshaw doesn't quite have the gaudy TPE numbers, but his stats still jump off the page when you consider that he created over the offseason. He has the advantage of being a recreate, and not just any recreate - his first player was a absolute monster on the field and off it, as he maintained near max earning rates through his entire career. If Longshaw has even 50% of Miller's success, it's worth taking him in the top two rounds, especially for the expansion teams who need a QB. However, since there are only two such teams and this QB draft has three top prospects, he might take an unfortunate slide.
#2: Brock Landers(102 TPE) [rank 9 among all draftees]
Landers is the highest TPE QB, ranking 9th among all draft prospects with 102. He's active in discord, he's written media, he regularly updates. Honestly, he checks all the boxes (that I used to have when I was a GM - not a universal set of checkboxes). So why isn't he the #1 QB? Well, for starters, his build is slightly questionable, his TPE/day figure is much less impressive than Longshaw's, and he's less of a proven member than dropbear. And yes, of course, he has no control over these things, but I'd expect GMs to go for the high floor Longshaw over the high ceiling Landers.
#3: Franklin Armstrong(94 TPE) [rank 11 among all draftees]
Armstrong is another intriguing prospect who checks all the boxes - active, regularly updating, writing media, etc. He's #11 out of the 100 prospects in TPE, and his build is solid. He'd be a top pick in any other draft, but in this one he might be a late round steal. There's no such thing as too many good QBs, although Armstrong may have to sit on the bench for a year if he gets unlucky.
#4: Ryan Leaf Jr.(69 TPE) [rank 36 among all draftees]
Leaf has been very active everywhere. He's been on discord, he's done interviews, he's written media, he's held pressers. On the surface, it looks like he'd be a top pick. But there's one major problem: his TPE totals are underwhelming, and heaps of TPE are necessary for any mobile QB. Either way, his activity is promising and he can be molded into a DSFL starting quarterback, the likes of Andreas Metaxas and Mark Strike.
#5: Apollo Lange(67 TPE) [rank 40 among all draftees]
Lange is an intriguing prospect. He's dabbled in media, made some awesome graphics, and done activity checks and mock drafts. However, his TPE count is a little underwhelming at just 67 (39th among the group). He seems to be active, but his TPE total is underwhelming. He could make an awesome starter next year if he keeps up this pace.
#6: TJ Hendrix(57 TPE) [rank 61 among all draftees]
Hendrix created late but got himself a little boost of TPE to differentiate himself from the inactives in the class. At just 57 points earned, he sits 60th among all draft prospects, but he also has just a few days under his belt. He's got a worrying pattern of inactivity with his past players, but if he keeps his activity up, he will find his place in the DSFL.
#7: Gimmy Jaroppolo(50 TPE) [rank 76 among all draftees]
Jaroppolo hasn't logged in since he created. There's a low chance that he'll ever log on or earn a drop of TPE, so he will almost certainly be picked in the later rounds.
#8: John Tebow(50 TPE) [rank 76 among all draftees] T
he only reason Tebow is behind the other inactive in this QB class is his build.
RBs
#1: Morgan Marshall(106 TPE) [rank 6 among all draftees] There shouldn't be too much of a debate about this. Marshall leads all S15 RBs in TPE by a massive margin and ranks 6th among all rookies in total TPE. His 80 speed means he'll earn playing time right away, and with 70 hands he can line up at WR or TE if he lands on a team with a crowded backfield. He keeps writing good media and making a positive impression, and as such he should be high on any GM's board.
#2: Terry Taffy(71 TPE) [rank 34 among all draftees]
In any other year, GMs would be falling over themselves for a chance to snag Taffy. In this year, though, he ranks at 34th in the total TPE rankings. However, he's reached that all-important 80 speed cutoff, after which GMs will feel comfortable giving him carries. He may not start immediately, but look for him to work his way into a starting role by the end of the year.
#3: Kermit Stronglegs(80 TPE) [rank 25 among all draftees]
I usually don't like doing this, but I've ranked a prospect with more TPE at a lower ranking. Why? Well, Stronglegs certainly is a wonderful prospect. He has some of the best speed in this offensive class with 81, and he put out a bit of media. But at the same time, he's been around for longer than Taffy, only accumulating a 9 TPE difference. Additionally, Taffy's been everywhere around the rookie discord, which should give any locker room a boost. I'd expect him to be picked up early for one of the expansion teams.
#4: Ben Bortboy(75 TPE) [rank 30 among all draftees]
Bortboy is similar to Stronglegs in terms of TPE, but with 70 strength, he projects as a FB for his starting time in the league. He's got unimpressive speed, and might even take snaps at TE for an offensive-needy team. Expect him to fight for playing time by the end of the year.
#5: Dorfus Jimbo(65 TPE) [rank 45 among all draftees]
As a DSFL Co-GM, his draft slot is already locked in.
#6: Forrest Gump(61 TPE) [rank 48 among all draftees]
He's got really enticing speed, and his Prospect Bowl showed he'll be able to contribute right away. He wrote good media, and seems to be active on the site, if not on the discord. Watch for his role to increase as time goes on.
#7: Max Vaz(67 TPE) [rank 40 among all draftees]
Vaz's 81 speed will allow him to be an important role player right off the bat, although he might be limited to that role since he hasn't posted in a week. However, it looks like he's still logging in regularly. He might slip to the later rounds due to a lack of media, but he will still be a useful player.
#8: Ludicolo Bigby(50 TPE) [rank 76 among all draftees]
I did it again! I ranked a lower TPE prospect higher. whoops. Well, Bigby is a speed RB, and speed kills. Plus, he's an established member who's easy to reach on discord and probably won't go inactive.
With pick number 7, the Norfolk Seawolves select RB Dorfus Jimbo!
65 TPE (Rank 45), username ScorpXCracker
I'm sure Norfolk would be hoping for a little better value in terms of TPE here, but ScorpXCracker is their Co-GM and will be drafted here. He should become the cornerstone of this brand new offense.
With pick number 8, the Palm Beach Solar Bears select TE Chase Jensen!
108 TPE (Rank 5), username dizzyDC
TPE-wise, Jensen is a steal here. The reason we know he won't be picked earlier is that he is the co-GM of the Solar Bears, who will be happy to get an offensive cornerstone. Jensen will be responsible for the success or failure of the offense, and may be asked to play WR if he gets up his speed. He's good value here.
With pick number 9, the Portland Pythons select RB Morgan Marshall!
106 TPE (Rank 6), username EnyfsNest
The slide stops here! While RB isn't necessarily the biggest need for the Pythons, Marshall can both take some of the pressure off of Beauregard Smallwood-Chess while giving a boost to the offense that ranked dead last among human teams. Marshall can also slide in at WR, giving Caleb McCoy another option besides Bona'beri Jones. He should provide an instant boost.
With pick number 10, the San Antonio Marshals select LB Lanzer Grevious!
103 TPE (Rank 8), username Rising Equinox
The Marshals will stick true to their defensive identity, picking up another value piece in LB Lanzer Grevious. He'd surely be a top prospect in any other draft, but this year Slothface and Josh have him by 30 TPE. However, he's been active in discord and on the site, meaning GMs will be comfortable picking him. The Marshals will get to reinforce their best-in-the-league defense, and Grevious gets an ideal environment for a defensive rookie - surrounded by studs.
With pick number 11, the Kansas City Coyotes select LB Mo Berry!
91 TPE (Rank 12), username Frick_Nasty
The Coyotes are pretty set on offense, but their rushing defense still leaves a lot to be desired. Berry can slot in at one of the LB spots immediately and give Kansas City much needed front 7 help. While he is the first selection of a sub-100 TPE player (not counting the Jimbo pick, which Norfolk didn't have a choice about), he ranks 12th in TPE, which isn't bad for the 11th pick at a huge need. He's stayed especially active in discord, and even while he username has a no-no word in it, he doesn't have any character concerns.
With pick number 12, the Tijuana Luchadores select OL Brave Ulysses!
89 TPE (Rank 14), username PaytonM34 (a recreate)
Another GM pick, the Luchadores pick up the best prospect from a forgotten position. We don't really know how much an OL benefits an offense, but nonetheless the Luchadores will be glad to have him paving the way for RBs and giving time to QBs.
