When you look at the players drafted in the first six rounds of the S16 NSFL draft, a few things catch your eye immediately. Team success is not a clear indicator of draft performance, which makes sense since send-downs will outperform rookies but aren't available in the draft. The Marshals, who only lost 2 games throughout the entire season and post-season, were only able to get 7 of their players drafted. Inversely, the Coyotes, who were only able to win 2 games total throughout the season, also weren't able to crack double-digits with only 4 drafted players. It seemed that having the best record for the season was not much better than having the worst record when it came to this draft. The reigning Ultimini champion Portland Python team noticeably didn't have many draft picks in the first six rounds either. With their notable linebacker duo of Lee and Stokeley both being send-downs, only 10 other players on the team were off the board in the first 60 picks. With 6 teams contributing 60 players total for these rounds, that's exactly equivalent to random chance. The SFC Champion Luchadores were able to get 11 players drafted by NSFL teams, but, interestingly, none were taken in the third round. The third round was dominated by the Palm Beach team, which had 6 of the 10 picks for that round alone. Overall, both expansion teams contributed the most to the draft, which makes sense since they had no send-downs. 13 Solar Bears were drafted across the first six rounds, but they were not spread evenly by any means. Norfolk, however, had a fairly even spread for their 15 players drafted except for a very noticeable gap in the second round. For some reason, three players were taken off the board in the first and third rounds, but the team was completely forgotten in the second round. In addition, it is worth noting that Norfolk contributed 25% of the players drafted in the first six rounds this year. That is more than double the contribution of both Kansas City and San Antonio. Now, we shall see which players end up as send-downs and which can make an immediate impact in the NSFL. Good luck everyone!
