Double Draft Media - 2708 Words
So I wanted to take the time out to write my annual big post and this time around because we don't have a ton of prospects for the NSFL Draft (maybe I'll write about them too, but who knows), I am going to take a look back at the S15 Draft to get an idea of how things shook out and kinda where everyone is after 1 season. For now I am just going to review rounds 1 and 2, but I may look over rounds 3 and 4 later.
Round 1
1.

Season Stats: 68 Receptions, 933 Receiving Yards , 7 Touchdowns
Well Mr. Number 1 overall seems to have made a bigger name for himself with his rookie season. Landers showed why he was the number 1 overall selection with his play and now looks to be the top guy in Arizona since the departure of Sam Hardwick. Brock averaged 13.7 ypc this season, ranking in the top 15 of the league, while his 933 receiving yards secured the number 8 spot in the rankings. I would have to say that Landers surely has a very strong case for Offensive Rookie of the Year after his inaugural season. If I were the Outlaws, I would be excited to see how the career of Landers progresses and I would be sure to help him out by putting as many weapons around him as possible.
2.

Season Stats: 108 Tackles, 3 Tackles for Loss, 3 Sacks, 1 Interception
The first loser depending on how you look at it, was Quenton Bode as the number 2 overall pick and for being a rookie linebacker in the NSFL, he had a tremendous season. Unlike the next pick and teammate, Bode decided to stay up and play in the NSFL for his rookie season and I think it was a wise decision. Bode finished 8th in the league in tackles and was only second in terms of rookies in the same category. Adding on 3 sacks and 1 interception shows that Quenton has potential to both rush the passer and cover passing lanes, which is a must at the next level.
3.

Season Stats: 142 Tackles, 10 Tackles for Loss, 13 Sacks - (DSFL Send Down)
Here is the second member of the dynamic linebacker duo for the Secondline. Unlike his counterpart, Slothface decided to play down one more season in the DSFL to further hone his craft and to compete for an Ultimini. While I have faith that Johnny would have been just fine in the NFSL during his actual rookie season, going the route he did is respectable as well. Slothface smoked the entire DSFL in sacks with 13 this season and showed that he might just be the next Von Miller in terms of edge rushing when he makes his NSFL debut. No other person in the league had more than 7 sacks, just to put that in to prospective. Johnny certainly made a strong case for being DSFL DPOTY. I'm excited to see how him and Bode gel at the next level.
4.

Season Stats: 43 Tackles, 6 Tackles for Loss, 3 Sacks
When I first took a look at Nero's numbers I was a little underwhelmed, but upon doing more research, I see that his numbers are pretty damn good when making the comparison between him and the other defensive lineman in the NSFL. Nero's 43 tackles ranked him 4th amongst all defensive ends and to follow that up with 3 sacks is impressive giving that he still has a ton of room to grow. With another season under his belt to gain even more TPE, I project Nero to continue to be in the conversation as one of the league's best defensive ends.
5.

Season Stats: 80 Receptions, 946 Receiving Yards, 7 Touchdowns
Was he a receiver or a tight end.....nobody knows, but he was all over the field this past season in the DSFL. Like all of the expansion team players that were selected, Chase Jensen spent his first season after being drafted down in the DSFL and boy did he show out. A lock for tight end of the year in the DSFL, Jensen showed just how much he can take over a game when fed the ball in the passing game. Chase finished the season second in receptions amongst all players and fourth in receiving yards from his TE/WR position. Jensen was also a part of the Ultimini winning Solar Bears this past season. I'm interested to see how things translate for him when Austin opens up the season this coming year.
6.

Season Stats: 165 Tackles, 2 Tackles for Loss, 4 Forced Fumbles, 6 Sacks
What can I say about this guy other than he's pretty awesome. But in all seriousness, I did lead the league in forced fumbles and I was tied for first in the league for blocked punts. It was an awesome season for myself and my fellow Coyotes that took KCC from the dirt back to relevancy. I look forward to playing in the NSFL and contributing to the Chicago Butchers!
7.

Season Stats: 42 Tackles, 1 Tackle for Loss, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Touchdown
The big man was rolling this season and that's not even a corny play on words given his username. I'm not kidding when I say that Ricardo Morris had it going on this season when he finished third overall in tackles amongst all defensive tackles. Morris is also the only defensive lineman in the entire league that scored a touchdown this season. When the big man gets his hands on the ball, he's going to the house! Sounds like we might have a "Refrigerator Perry" situation on our hands here.
8.

Season Stats: 24 Tackles, 5 Tackles for Loss, 1 Sack
And this ladies and gentlemen is what we call the effects of playing next to an all-star like Thorian Skarsgard. As a rookie, I am not saying by any means that Lattimer had a poor season, but he surely was effected by the outstanding player next to him. As Aj continues to grow as a player and amass more TPE I see them being a very strong and forceful duo in the league. Look for bright things from Lattimer moving forward.
9.

Season Stats: 57 Tackles, 3 Sacks, 4 Interceptions, 13 Pass Deflections
What a debut season for Richard D'Attoria! Being on a team that was loaded at the FS safety spot, he made a name for himself in his first season in Philadelphia. D'Attoria finds himself in the top 10 amongst free safeties in tackles and tied for fourth in sacks. Mainly playing the nickel back position is why he found himself in the middle of so many tackles. With Bucky Barnes moving back west I wonder if Richard is able to stay down at nickel or will he have to move back and take over the free safety position instead.
10.

Season Stats: 61 Receptions, 978 Yards, 8 Touchdowns
While Ahri was a send down for his rookie season as the Sabercats were preparing to lose their top receiver, he surely took advantage of being a capped out player. Ahri was able to finish third overall in receiving yards while catching more touchdowns than anyone else in the league. Pulling in 61 receptions, Espeeyeeseetee was also able to average 16 yards per reception which is awesome. I know that this offseason was eventful and came with a lot of changes for Ahri, so we will have to see how his body responds moving forward. I wish the now smaller man good luck!
Round 2
11.

Season Stats: 114 Tackles, 2 Tackles for Loss, 2 Sacks
As we find ourselves getting in to the second round, we may also be finding ourselves learning about the defensive rookie of the year. Colorado missed out on having a first round pick, but seemingly made up for it by snagging Mo Berry in the second round. Berry had a great rookie season and lead all rookies in tackles with 114. I would have to say that management for the Yeti have to be happy with their scouting department when it comes to making up for their lack of draft picks and knocking this selection out of the park.
12.

Season Stats: 47 Tackles, 1 Forced Fumble, 7 Sacks, 2 Interceptions
Another player with a legitimate case for DROTY, Faith Terim made sure that Baltimore would not regret making him their first selection in the S15 draft. Due to previous trades, Baltimore did not have a first round pick, but given how deep this draft was, two picks in the second round certainly helped them out when continuing their path to an Ultimini. Not only is Eco the best damn signature maker around, he’s also a growing force at the safety position in the NSFL. His counterpart Walt Green that was also selected in this round also had a great rookie season, but while they each had their strengths, Faith was able to edge out his teammate in the sacks department. If he can keep that up, we might see Terim moving down to the LB position.
13.

Season Stats: 343 Rushing Attempts, 1713 Yards, 20 Touchdowns
Well folks, Ol’ Forrest did it again and it appears that he has kept up his routine of running and running and running straight in to a 20+ touchdown season. With his 1 receiving touchdown and the 18 rushing touchdowns that Gump had last season, he is now at 39 total DSFL touchdowns! He finds himself ranked third all time in rushing touchdowns in the DSFL and I am looking forward to see how Forrest translates to the NSFL when he finally takes his talents to New Orleans this coming season assuming that is the case.
14.

Season Stats: 191 Rushing Attempts, 812 Yards, 8 Touchdowns
The season 15 DSFL running back of the year made a splash in his rookie season as the lead back for the Yellowknife Wraiths and made sure that he set himself apart from the other rookie running backs. As apart of a team that is still rebuilding and making a run at future playoff spots, I think that having Marshall as the bell cow for years to come was an awesome addition. Not to mention the fact that Marshall came into the NSFL with a huge chip on his shoulder and rightfully so in my opinion. No one ever thought that he would drop as far as he did in the draft and I think that is something that will fuel him for years to come.
15.

Season Stats: 77 Receptions, 1243 Yards, 3 Touchdowns
Having a receiver on your squad the caliber of Rod Tidwell is not something that happens very often, but I have to admit that I have some what of an issue with his production this year. Sad thing is, I don’t feel like I can blame Tidwell much at all. The DSFL’s leading receiver by 223 yards was only able to haul in 3 touchdowns! Now I’m assuming that had something to do with the lackluster play by his QB that only threw 11 touchdowns all season to coincide with his 11 interceptions. It may also have to do with his teammate Forrest Gump getting in to the end zone 21 times himself. Regardless, I am hoping for Tidwell’s sake that he is able to find the end zone much more when Austin takes this field this year.
16.

Season Stats: 63 Tackles, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Interception, 8 Pass Deflections
Here is another guy that I am very partial to given the fact that he is my teammate once again in Chicago, but that should not take anything away from Xerxes Ridley. Ridley was a send down like myself, but like myself, he also took this past season to continue on his path to greatness. Ridley was top 10 in tackles amongst all cornerbacks and he is also an exceptional return man. I think that a big reason why his numbers are not inflated is because quarterbacks learned from S15 that you don’t want to test this guy or he will make you pay! I’m happy to have him as a teammate so that we can make life hell on opposing quarterbacks for years to come!
17.

Season Stats: 59 Tackles, 1 FF, 1 FR, 3 Sacks, 2 Interceptions, 1 Safety, 1 Touchdown
Here’s the thing with Walt Green, I had to shorten this man’s stat line so that it fit into my article like everyone else’s. Green was all over the field this past season, on his way to winning an Ultimus trophy as a key piece of that Baltimore Hawks defense. Being a former teammate to Walt Green all the way back in our prospect bowl days, I have loved this guy’s game since the beginning. Seeing how he has developed and translated to the NSFL is no surprise to me and I think that he is surely a candidate for DROTY!
18.

Season Stats: 199 Tackles, 3 FF, 1 FR, 3 Sacks, 3 Pass Deflections
199 tackles is not a typo folks, I swear. My nemesis this past season in the DSFL, Lanzer Grievous had a recording breaking performance on multiple occasions this year. Lanzer broke the tackles in a game record 3 times this season if I am not mistaken before finally leaving it at 22 tackles in a game! Good luck to the next person trying to break that one. Now finally moving on to Orange County this coming season, I am sure the Otters are looking forward to getting this stud of a linebacker on the field in the NSFL. A surefire DPOY candidate in the DSFL, will be looking to take that award from me as well in the NSFL next season, but at least competition breeds excellence!
19.

Season Stats: 70 Tackles, 1 Tackle for Loss, 1 Interception, 11 Pass Deflections
The best CB in the draft last season that had to be selected in the second round due to his GM duties for the Liberty, would have been a surefire first round pick if rules did not exist and his play on the filed showed why. Coming in at third overall in tackles at the corner position, Emoji gave the league a glimpse into what they should expect for seasons to come this past season. I think that Emoji will be a perennial pro bowl player for the Liberty and a surefire pain in the ass for opposing quarterbacks.
20.

Season Stats: 53 Receptions, 416 Yards, 1 Touchdown
Well guys, if you need a first down then Cameron Olsen is your man! With his 7.8 yards per reception, he didn’t do much in the big play department, but he was very a reliable target for Joliet Christ in San Jose, or in Oakland, idk. Regardless, I know that Olsen wasn’t a big fan of his early season production and because of that he took a lot of time making himself more agile and that helped tremendously. I also know that Olsen will be working on slimming down this offseason to make himself more of a vertical threat in upcoming seasons.
