READY TO BE GRADED (1214 words)
Quenton Bode steps up to the podium.
"Thank you all for coming out today. Let's get started."
Thoughts on the past season? Where do you feel you did well, and where is there room for improvement? --woelker11
"I think this past season was a great first step for New Orleans on the road to an Ultimus. We only made minor changes to our roster--calling up Gump and Sloth, Stan Francisco moving to QB--but those changes greatly improved our play and made us much more competitive. I think we're only a few pieces away from being a strong contender for the title. As for me personally, I think I did well--apparently I made the exact same number of tackles I did last season, which is impressive given this season's shorter schedule. But I have plenty of room for improvement. I've been working with the training staff all season to improve my reflexes and to just get quicker on my feet, and that's been very helpful. But I've not been as effective on the field as I know I can be, so the challenge for me this offseason is figuring out how to have more of an impact on the field. Fortunately, I've got a great organization to help me solve that riddle. Overall, I'm proud of how our season went, and I'm very excited for the future of the franchise."
Who do you feel are the most interesting free agents? What do you think of the incoming rookie class? --woelker11
"This is a really exciting free agency period. A lot of really good players are available, and while I'm sure plenty of them will stay with their respective teams, I think we'll see some surprising moves. I think Lennox Garnett will be a popular target for a lot of teams, as well as Sunnycursed. Danny Grithead will certainly and understandably get a lot of attention. And Mason Brown opting out of his contract has raised a lot of eyebrows. I don't want to talk too much about the rookies for fear of tipping our hand, but suffice it to say that I--and the rest of the New Orleans organization--has been blown away by this rookie class. There's a lot of talent entering the NSFL this season, and I'm excited to add some more young players to our talented lineup. I'm looking forward to the draft and seeing who ends up where."
Salsa, queso, or guac? --woelker11
"Good question! Growing up in Anchorage I never had a strong opinion, but the time I spent in San Antonio with the Marshals really opened my eyes. I really like them all, but I think salsa is my favorite. There's so many things you can do with it, and so many different flavors--I'm always looking for new salsas to try. I think the more time I spend in New Orleans the more I become a foodie."
Do you think there is a single position group that you need improvement in to make a better run next season? --IsaStarcrossed
"I've said it before, but I am a firm believer in the idea that defense wins championships. And while our secondary is solid, I think that if we want to make a run at a championship, we've got to start by improving there. We have a star in Deon Taylor, but as good as he is, he can't do everything alone. So we really need to give him some help, but I think we're positioned to do just that. We could also use some help on the defensive line, but I think our passing defense should be our top priority."
Obviously it is still early, but realistically what are you expectations for next season after an early exit in this one? --IsaStarcrossed
"Realistically, I think we'll improve to a winning record and make a deep playoff run. Like I said earlier, we greatly improved our performance this season with relatively minor changes to the roster. In particular, we only made one pick in the Season 16 draft. Now, we've got the third overall pick in this draft, which is loaded with talent, and two picks in the third round. Essentially, we're set up to have a really good draft, and to bring in some fresh talent. If we can improve as much as we did by making small tweaks to the roster, imagine how much better we'll be when we add a whole new group of rookies. I don't think it's a stretch to say that we'll be contending for a title very soon."
Squirrels or opossums? --IsaStarcrossed
"This is probably the strangest question I've been asked during a presser. Without putting too much thought into it, I'd have to say opossums."
How's your time being

At this point, someone who is definitely a large man and not at all a hippopotamus in a suit steps up to the podium. Bode steps aside to make the microphone available to this man (who, again, is absolutely a human male and in no way a fancily dressed hippopotamus.)
"I suppose this is as good a time as any to introduce myself. My name is Charles O'Potamus, but my friends call me Chip. I am the new assistant general manager for the New Orleans Second Line. The answer to your question, fine sir, is a simple one, and that answer is that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working for this organization. This is my first foray into the business of managing a football club, and I have already learned a great deal. Juosu has been quite helpful in acquainting me with the business, and I've learned a great deal from the lads in the locker room as well--including this fine young polar bear here! Suffice it to say that I am more than happy with my role, and I look forward to a long and successful career with this fine organization. Now, I will let our young linebacker resume his press conference.
O'Potamus, who is 100% a real person and not a large water-dwelling mammal from Africa, steps away from the podium, and Bode takes his place.
How do you feel about the upcoming offseason, and free agency for NOLA? --ValorX77
"I've touched on it already--and again, I don't want to risk giving too much away--but I feel very positive about this free agency period. We didn't make a lot of noise last season in free agency, although that wasn't for a lack of trying. And I can understand why we weren't the most attractive free agent destination last season. But a lot has changed between now and then, and I think other people are more aware of just how close we are to a title. I think we've got a good shot at landing some really talented players, and I'm excited to see what our roster looks like at the start of the season."
Quenton Bode steps away from the podium.
"Thanks for the questions, everyone. These pressers are always a blast."
