This mock was really rushed as you can see and the quality may not be my usual level but I still feel it is a decent read. Don’t forget to take this mock with a grain of salt as it is all opinion based.
1st Overall - Austin Copperheads - Ashley Owens - Running Back
This is probably the most obvious pick in this draft. I mean, their top running back Dick Wizardry switched positions to defensive tackle(another need). Owens is by far the top player in this class and the top running back in the class. As of right now he is leading the class with 267 TPE. That is 17 more than the runner up in this class Jordan Andrews. We will get back to Andrews soon. Back to Owens, with his stature of 5’10” and 205 lbs he has the perfect size and weight for a running back of his specialty. He is best known for his dual threat style with the ability to play as both a speed back and as a receiver, and he sure is a fast running back. He also comes into the draft with 90 speed which is tied for the best in the class with cornerback Mervin Leonard. It was kind of obvious the second that Wizardry changed to defensive tackle that Owens would be the number 1 selection.
2nd Overall - Colorado Yeti - Bubba Thumper - Defensive Tackle
The Yeti address another by taking the best defensive linemen in the class Bubba Thumper. He will be drafted to a team that finished 1-12 and could use help at most positions but picking Thumper will solidify that position for many seasons. He comes in with 226 tpe which is 6th most in the class and 1st for defensive linemen. Coming into the draft he is 6’4 and 310 lbs which matches perfectly with his Run Stuffer play style. Also, he has 81 strength which is first for defensive linemen in his class first in strength for the entire class. Finally, he is the fastest defensive linemen in the class with a rating of 75.
3rd Overall - New Orleans Second Line - Jordan Andrews - Cornerback
After barely missing the playoffs the Second Line could use a playmaker on defense. Who better than Jordan Andrews. This 6’1”, 205 lbs cornerback brings it all to the table. Great speed, great hands, great intelligence, great agility, Andrews had all the makings to become an all star cornerback. He should be primarily used in a man to man defensive set because that is where he excels most. Although he might not be as fast as other corners in the class such as Mervin Leonard he does make up for it with his superb intelligence, with his hands of glue, and amazing agility.
4th Overall - Baltimore Hawks - Brayden Ennis - Defensive Tackle
After being expected to make the Ultimus this season it was such a disappointment when they were not even able to make the playoffs. One of the brightsides to this was that they are now able to secure a top defensive prospect. Ennis is the second best defensive linemen in the draft(Bubba Thumper) and is 8th in the class if the rankings are purely based off of TPE value. However, his draft stock shot up because of the need of defensive linemen in the NSFL. Standing at 6’4” and 305 pounds he is an ideal build for a nose tackle. Also, he never misses a tackle as he has a high tackle rating which boosts his stock. Finally, the stat that all defensive lineman care about, strength. Ennis has a very high strength rating which will help him when he wants to rush past the offensive line’s of the NSFL.
5th Overall - San Jose Sabercats - Dexter Banks II - Wide Receiver
Ahh finally, after starting the season with 7 wide receiver’s the first one is finally drafted. Coming into the season he was expected to well because of his stats and his stature. He is 6’2” and weighs 198 pounds which is kind of light for but it doesn’t matter that much.Dexter Banks II had an absolute monster season. Despite being a rookie he put up 985 yards, 74 receptions, and 6 touchdowns. Usually you would need more tpe to play that well but Banks is a different type of beast. He comes into the draft with the highest agility and highest speed in the class. Banks is the 3rd ranked out of all the prospects however, because of the other teams need’s he falls to 5th where the Sabercats would be very happy to pick him up
6th Overall - Yellowknife Wraiths - Mervin Leonard - Cornerback
YES FINALLY, A PYTHON COMES OFF THE BOARD. As you might know I am a member of the Pythons and I am ecstatic that one finally comes off the board. I absolutely love Mervin, he is an amazing person and will add so much to any locker room. He is by far the fastest defensive player in the class and one of the fastest players in the class with his speed rating of 90. Although he may not have the best hands or intelligence his speed will always make up for it. Also, with his height of 6’2” and his weight of 195 lbs he has the ideal builds for a man to man cornerback. He will fit very well in the Wraith locker room.
7th Overall - Orange County Otters - Saba Donut - Wide Receiver
I’m not going to talk about this one so I don’t seem biased. I will say that the Otters get a stud wide receiver that has a great amount of speed, good hands, and…. What, i’ve started to ramble about myself again, SHUT UP I DON’T CARE. This wide receiver will 100% become a hall of famer and win many ultimus to go along with his ultimini. Honestly he is the best player in this class and the Pythons should of won the Ultimini. Okay now I'm done talking about this godly prospect.
8th Overall - Austin Copperheads - Tryon Brackenridge - Safety
How the class’s top safety and 5th ranked earner dropped this far is beyond me. The Copperheads take full advantage of this and take a future star in Tryon Brackenridge. He will become a leader on this team and I believe he will help them win a game for once. He had a very good season with the Coyotes in which he ended it with 57 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions. His measurables are very good for his Run Stopper play time. For example, he is 6’2” and weighs 223 lbs which will help stop runs right in their tracks. With these new additions the Copperheads must feel really good about this class.
9th Overall - Philadelphia Liberty - Honda Edmond - Linebacker
The liberty just came off of a fantastic playoff run which unfortunately resulted in them losing in the Ultimus. They won’t let that get them down as at the 9th pick they will be able to pick up stud tight end who switched to linebacker Honda Edmond. Speed is probably the most important attribute for every position(except kicker, offensive line, and quarterback) and Edmond knows that. His high speed had all the scouts watching him while he helped his team win the Ultimini. As a very tall player he will have an advantage over receivers when playing in coverage. The Liberty definitely got it right with this pick.
10th Overall - Arizona Outlaws - Action Jackson - Wide Receiver
Ahh Jackson, you were always unfortunately overlooked. I get it, it's hard to show yourself to the world when you play behind 2 wide receivers. However, this is your chance to shine. The outlaws could use a second receiver to complement Brock Landers and they are able to snag Action Jackson and fill that hole. Jackson has the measurables of a tight end put plays at wide receiver and he dominates. His height lets him tower over opposing defensive backs and come down with the ball. That's not to mention the guys heart and positive attitude. He will always be an amazing addition to any locker room and the Outlaws are fortunate to have him.
