Analysis
By Chig Bungus, NSFL Analyst
Draft Prediction: Mid 1st Round-Mid 2nd Round
DSFL Comparison: Mike Franchet
Overview
Big run-stuffing type defensive end with a lot of power and some potential technique concerns. Able to generate push with his powerful frame rather easily, though he can struggle getting in-between the tackles and either pressuring the quarterback or bringing down the runningback. Will need some time to develop his pass rushing techniques, as he was primarily a pure bull rusher in college.
Strengths
-Large frame able to generate a lot of power and handle a lot of abuse
-Bull rush move is impeccable, can punch straight through some linemen with ease
-Uses hands and arms well to push blockers aside
-Keeps his eyes on the ball at all times, rarely ever get lost during a play
-Good punching technique, able to dislodge the ball well
Weaknesses
-Cannot do pure speed rushes against more athletic linemen
-Spin move is slow and telegraphed
-Inconsistent play recognition against misdirection
-Lack of technique outside of bull rushing
Sources Tell Us
'There are a few things you can't really teach in the NSFL. One of them being size. And honestly, this kid is an absolute monster. I think if a team can get him to clean up his technique, maybe slim down a bit so he can be faster off the edge, he has a real shot to be a star in this league." -DSFL Scout
