On a Cold, rainy night in the beginning of August, a child was born. He was born to a family of loving people, a family who cared about his every move and loved him so dearly. He was cared for and he was loved by more than just his family.
At the age of 6, his family was split apart after a divorce between his parents separated the family into two sides, we support you and hate the other one and vice versa, and it ruined Zacks perception of the world, thinking it all to be pain and suffering, he would divert his feelings into himself, only caring about him and nobody else.
After winning custody of his child, Zack’s dad did everything he could to make him happy. At the age of 11, Zack was put into football, where he excelled at the Quarterback position. He continued to play well into high school but going into his junior year, a torn ACL set him back. He made the team senior year and led the state in passing yards, passing TDs and passer percentage, the only person in SC state history to have a perfect passer rating in more than one game. He made it to the championship game, where he performed poorly against who many thought was the better team in Myrtle Beach High School, but he and his buddies never gave up. After being down 45-10 at half, they stormed back and were within 18 points at a score of 45-27. They scored twice in 5 minutes to make the game 45-42 after a missed 2 point conversion and a successful one on the second TD. With 2:19 left on the clock, the defense forced a stop and gave the ball back to Zack and the offense with 2 minutes left to play. He drove down the field and had the ball at the nine with 2 seconds left. He and his coach opted against the field goal, knowing that the experience of the MBH team that had been here back to back years would be the death of them, so with 2 seconds left, Zach dropped back. They were only rushing three and had every corner covered, so after scrambling around for 5 seconds he threw it to his receiver in the endzone. hit him right in the bread basket right next to the pylon for the score. The final score, 45-48. They had won the state championship for the first time since 1982 (i’m just throwing that out there it isn’t actually true lol) and the stands in favor of Zack and his brigade leaped in the air in triumphant celebration. They had won it. After a nearly 3 hour after party, he headed home. He know had a collegiate decision to make. His hometown Gamecocks, the cellar dwelling Tigers (it’s my reality i can do as I please) or his favorite team, the Michigan Wolverines.
After being redshirted in his first year at Michigan, he was a backup in his sophomore year. Nothing happened in these years, outside of him and his girlfriend being happy together, finding out they were born on the same day.
In his Junior year, he led Michigan to a 9-3 record and a bowl victory against the Auburn Tigers.
His senior year is where the drama starts. After a drama filled first few games, he played Michigan State University at home, a game he proceeded to dominate in, throwing 5 Touchdowns and about 430 yards, he then faced off with rival Wisconsin, where he defeated the Badgers by a score of 42-17. Then, it happened. After a disappointing loss to Penn State the year prior, he threw 4 picks to 1 touchdown and almost cost them the game, thankfully the defense bailed him out, and the PSU team only scored on one of his interceptions, for a game score of 23-17. They then faced Ohio State university, where the game was a shootout, with the biggest lead being 8. With :29 seconds left to go, Zack took off and ran all the way from the Michigan 47 to the Ohio State 27. Being down 5, they could not kick a field goal, so after running three plays and shaving the clock down to a total of 4 seconds remaining, Mr. Vega, pulled out a miracle. He threw the same ball he threw to his best friend in high school for a dot into his chest, for an undefeated season and a win over Ohio State, the first for the program since Zack was born. There were parties and everyone was thrilled.
Michigan would then go on to smoke Northwestern in the B10 championship game, and would easily beat the Texas Longhorns in the Semifinal, leading to a championship matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide. After being down early, Zack shredded the thought to be NSFL quality defense. After passing for 6 touchdowns and over 500 yards, Zack easily defeated the Crimson Tide and won Michigan it’s first national championship of the century.
Zack Vega was awarded many honors for winning with the school. He was granted a position in their hall of fame, even getting a street named after him in a nearby city in Michigan. He was a well known name and was always approached in classes by fans asking him to sign stuff for them. He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated and worked very hard to help out the struggling communities in Michigan.
After Winning the Natty, he proceeded to win the Heisman trophy, with the stat line of 5,329 yards, 48 Touchdowns and 7 rushing touchdowns, along with 4 games of perfect passer ratings, 2 of them coming against ranked opponents.
He now awaits his draft position, where he will be watching with his wife, after they got married over the off season, and his loving, caring family, who will be hoping he goes to a good team that cares and loved for him as much as they do.
