The S18 Colorado Yeti have managed to do the unthinkable and pull themselves into the playoffs. Not just a bye week for the #1 team either, but as a possible contender in the #3 spot. With that comes the turn of a few key players on the team on both sides of the ball that have reaped the benefits of sticking through some hard early seasons. One of those players is the tight end in a jaguar mask, Armor King.
Formerly Armor King was known as Joshua Palmer and was a slow TPE earner compared to the veteran TEs around the NSFL. Not able to catch up to players, sticking toward the bottom of stats, and not really doing more than being “Mr. Check Down” for the Yeti passing offense. However, an awakening happened over the offseason that brought Joshua Palmer away and turned him into the much more dominant Armor King.
Donning the suit of armor and jaguar mask, Armor King has pushed himself from the bottom of tight ends to the top in the matter of one season with Wolfie as his quarterback mind you. This 6’6” jaguar has amassed the third highest receiving yards off of the second lowest receptions. Other impressive stats in this turn around season:
- Highest receiving yard avg
- Longest reception
- Tied for 3rd most receiving TDs
All off of only 46 catches!
Now I understand that there are two TEs that have their names above Armor King in the index, but both of those TEs have 17+ catches over the Colorado TE. With King’s 9.1 Avg Yds per catch, if you match the same amount of receptions to the two TEs ahead of him, King would have dominated their receiving yard stats. All of this on the second to worst passing offense in the entire league.
When it comes to voting for the best player at a position, do you vote for the one that did the best with what they were given, or simply were on a good team? I think it’s fair to say the one doing the best with the worst team is the top tier player.
