Welcome back to the season 21 edition of the NSFL draft. GMs and scouts have raved about the class of prospects this season. This class is deep and GMs have a chance to shape their team’s identity for years to come. I’ll try to use my powers of deductive reasoning and hopefully not look like a total fool with the picks I make. I used the TPE tracker for this article (whoever designed that tracker is a life saver, thank you), so if anything is wrong blame that. I know of several position switches and retirements, but things could really change if there are ones that aren’t public knowledge yet. My goal is to do as many picks before I run out of gas. Before I start projecting picks, we will look at each team in alphabetical order and try to deduce which possible directions they will go. Sit back, relax, smash that upvote button.
Arizona Outlaws
Their offense looks to be set for years to come. Very impressive. Jammerson Irving is a great TE but he is getting older and hasn’t been to practice in months, perhaps the Outlaws think about finding another weapon on offense for the long term, someone that could fulfill a FB/TE type of role until they are ready to take over the TE spot full time. Next, let’s look at the defense. The Outlaws defensive line looks to be in better shape than most teams, but they should definitely find a way to replace DE Joseph Henry. They only seem to have one linebacker on the roster, and with the new rules going into effect this season safeties will not be allowed to line up there. Their secondary needs help. They have three studs in Knight, McKinnie, and Scarlett. They need at least one body for sure and preferably a second because Montgomery is getting old fast. Obviously, they need a kicker as well, I don’t see one on the roster.
Team Needs: LB, DL, TE, CB, S, K
Austin Copperheads
The Ultimus XX champions seem to have a complete offense, they even have a very good human offensive lineman. Several of these players are set to regress soon, but it’s not a huge worry right now. Maybe late in the draft they take a couple offensive players for the hell of it. Their defensive line is led by a couple young studs. Kuusela is getting very old and the young Bradberton hasn’t been to practice in months, but is an okay place holder for now. At LB Bakshi will be starting his regression and commitment seems to be teetering, maybe we see a pick here for the future. Same story at CB. Ridley is getting old and hasn’t practiced in forever. Lavelle Jr. gets abused every game and they should probably trade him too, or demote him to the DSFL. Moreno has developed greatly and is ready to step up. The safety position looks set. Their specialist, Crisco, has plenty of juice left in that howitzer of a leg.
Team Needs: DL, DL, LB
Baltimore Hawks
The Hawks look to be on the older side, luckily for them they have a chance to reload over the next two drafts. Everybody loves their QB Havran, but father regression is undefeated. I think we’ll see his heir apparent drafted and developed in the DSFL. At RB/FB they will be set for a long time led by Williams and Reed. They definitely need a pick at WR, they only have two players there. Sauce has their TE spot set for years to come. On the DL they have Baldari and not much else for the future, they could use a couple picks here. At LB Vans is a great player but is getting up there in age. Regression is about to hit their other LB Nikko hard. They could use a CB to take over for the old Troyski. Safety looks strong with Green and Uchiha. Brand is fine for now at the kicker spot.
Team Needs: QB, WR, DE, DT, LB, CB
Chicago Butchers
Jenkins is coming off a strong year and has plenty of left in the tank, if not, they have Vega developing in the DSFL. The Butchers have a new RB this season thanks to the Leaf Jr. position switch. Ahri and O’Leary make up a great WR duo but they could use another weapon on the outside, and there’s no TE on the roster. This draft has plenty of offensive skill players so I think they will pick up a couple playmakers. On the defensive line Chicago made a trade for the great Skarsgard and have the young Vassallo, but they have nobody else. At LB Hockhertz recently switched positions, Lee is very good but only has one season left before retirement. CB is a mess, the only player they have is Castle who is set to regress hard. Safety is okay for now, but a pick here is a possibility as well. Fulture is getting old, but kickers age well. Looks like the Butchers should focus heavily on defense this draft.
Team Needs: WR, TE, DT, DE, LB, CB, CB, S
Colorado Yeti
The Yeti are set at QB with McDummy. Their backfield looks strong with Owens and Vincent. The have an elite WR duo with Bishop and Laszlo. But the last time I checked you need five playmakers on offense, they only have four. They’re going to take a WR/TE for sure, or maybe a gadget type of RB who doesn’t mind lining up at different spots. Kenobi is in the DSFL, but he has fallen behind many players in this new rookie class. Their defensive line is in tremendous shape relative to most teams, but they could easily replace Bacon. Linebacker position is set as well with three talented and committed players. Their defensive backs are deep as well, maybe they could use a draft and stash type of pick since Hornbacher is getting very old. They have a young specialist in Banana who could have a decade of kicking ahead of him. There are definitely not many needs out there in Colorado.
Team Needs: Offensive weapon, DL, DB
New Orleans Second Line
In NOLA, QB Francisco is set to start regression, but there’s plenty of tread left on the tires. The RB, WR, and TE positions look tremendous to me on paper, lots of talent and youth. They recently lost a talented WR to free agency, I think they will address that departure. They even have two human offensive linemen that are significantly better than a typical bot. Very impressive offense here. Damn, same story for the defense. DL has three strong players, LBs are great but it looks like Slothface is retiring after one more season. The also seem to have five defensive backs that are all committed players. Prohaska is a solid kicker. This team is in a great situation. Maybe they look far into the future and prepare for the NSFL expansion, they won’t be able to protect everybody. So after they get a future starter at LB maybe they go pure BPA the rest of the way, and even draft a QB if that prospect is willing to chill in the DSFL for a few more seasons.
Team Needs: WR, LB/DL, developmental QB, prepare for expansion draft
Orange County Otters
In Orange County their QB Franklin Armstrong is at the peak of his powers. Bigby is a solid RB and they have Sarvepally ready for a call up. They have an elite WR tandem in Mongo and Banks. Blaze is getting old but has a few years left. I could see them using a couple picks to improve their offensive depth. Defensive line is an area of great concern. They only have two players there and one of them is quickly approaching retirement. They could call up Boucher from the DSFL but they still need more. At LB they are led by Grievous but he recently announced he would stop going to practice. He’ll be great for a while but their other LB Ginsberg will need to be replaced. At CB and S they look loaded, I wouldn’t use a pick there if I were them. Alex D. is also a good kicker.
Team Needs: WR/TE, DT, DE, LB
Philadelphia Liberty
The Liberty have a great looking offense led by the young QB Phoenix. They might have overkill depth though, perhaps a trade or a position switch is in the works. I like the looks of their defensive line, three young players but they could use one more (sick of reading about DL yet?). They only have one LB in Howyanow after Kassell retired. They look to be in good shape at CB. At safety they have a great player in D’Attoria but the legend Garnett is nearing retirement. Young safety Stephens is chomping at the bit for a call up. They are set at kicker with Powers.
Team Needs: DL, LB
San Jose Sabercats
QB Dan Wright needs some help! I think he has potential but he needs more firepower. He’s entering the peak of his career, don’t waste it. Their current backfield isn’t getting it done. Luckily they could call up Rose to help out, but I think they could use a true stud. They have a trio of solid young WRs, they need some more developmental time but they’re adequate for now. Olsen is an elite TE also entering his prime. At defensive tackle they have two great players, but they need a couple DE’s in a big way. Brackenridge announced he has position switched to LB, that’s a great decision and they also have a DSFL call up in Deck ready to make an impact. These guys need a massive amount of help in their secondary. They are getting old and there’s not much commitment from their young players in that area. I could see them triple dip at that position, get some hungry players back there. They should also look for a new special teamer.
Team Needs: RB, DL, DL, DBx3, K
Yellowknife Wraiths
The NSFL’s favorite redneck Bigsby will get hit with regression for the first time in his career. I think he’ll combat it well, so I think it’s a little early for them to start thinking about a developmental QB. I like their young backfield with Hanyadi and Drake. WR looks great with two stars and one future star in Gordon. Looks like they just signed Rodriguez from NOLA to further strengthen their WR core. They even have a solid TE Gragg developing in the DSFL. I don’t think they’ll use much draft capital on offense this year. The DL looks to be in good shape but they should prepare for life after Smyles. Selich’s great career is soon coming to an end, it would make sense to prepare for that as well. The secondary is very strong, they have a couple great players regressing so maybe they draft and stash a DB. Donaldson should be replaced at kicker.
Team Needs: DL, LB, DB, K
Now that you’re all primed up and exhausted, have another drink and let’s get to the picks that will inevitably be 95% wrong! I’ll do a 4 round mock, 40 picks. I think there will be good players drafted beyond round 4, but I’m too lazy to make this any longer. If you get mad that I don’t have you mocked, good, use it as motivation.
Round 1:
1. Orange County
- Dorfus Jim…… Immanuel Blackstone DE
I think this is a no brainer type of pick. Blackstone will address a big need at a position that’s hard to find elite players at. OC got this pick as part of the Skarsgard trade during the season. This is how they replace him.
Other Possibilities: Allen DT, Quaid LB
2. San Jose
- Prince Vegeta S
I think this is a pretty easy pick as well. Vegeta leads the class in TPE by a significant margin. SJ is starving for secondary help so I would be shocked if this isn’t their pick.
Other Possibilities: Allen DT, PickSix CB
3. Philadelphia
- Otis Allen DT
Philly grabs an elite DT prospect. He’s on the same tier as Blackstone and has pumped out very entertaining media pieces.
Other Possibilities: Quaid LB, Summers LB
4. San Jose
- Dax Frost RB
SJ gets the RB they desperately need, he’s also tied for 2nd in s21 TPE. Easy pick.
Other Possibilities: PickSix CB, Beaner DT
5. Baltimore
- Chris Kross WR
The Hawks get the classes top WR in TPE. Having shared a locker room with Kross I can tell you he’s a high character player and hard worker. He’s going to be a great player.
Other Possibilities: Davis WR
6. Chicago
- HeHateMe PickSix CB
Chicago desperately wants a corner. PickSix is the best one left available.
Other Possibilities: Beaner DT, Otle DE
7. Colorado
- Osiris Firestorm-Fjord TE
The Yeti have a gaping hole on offense, Firestorm-Fjord will instantly plug it up. He’s also a great locker room presence.
Other Possibilities: McDavid TE, Davis WR
8. New Orleans
- Sardine Beaner DT
NOLA addresses one of the few needs they have. Beaner has shown great commitment so far.
Other Possibilities: Summers LB, Miller DT
9. Yellowknife
- Douglas Quaid LB
The Wraiths prepare for life after Selich with this selection. Sources say Quaid will be falling on draft day, he gets scooped up here.
Other Possibilities: Summers LB, Otle DE
10. Austin
- Chip Otle DE
Another teammate of mine and a great locker room member. Austin continues their trend from last year pumping up the defensive trenches.
Other Possibilities: Miller DT, McTackle DT
Round 2:
11. Chicago
- Leon McDavid TE
The Butchers are thrilled to select McDavid. They don’t have a TE on the roster so he’ll come right in and catch plenty of passes right away.
12. San Jose
- Pete Miller DT
In most drafts Miller would be a top five pick. SJ is thrilled to get him here. I wonder if there is any relation to the former SJ great DT Dan Miller?
13. Orange County
- Holden Summers LB
Some might say Summers is the top LB in this class. OC wants a LB, they get a great prospect here.
14. Arizona
- Riles McTackle DT
This is AZ’s first pick of the draft, they get an underrated DT in Mr. McTackle.
15. Baltimore
- Trevor Mouseman LB
Mouseman will be ready to take Nikko’s job in one season at most.
16. Arizona
- Perry Tucker Jr. LB
Tucker has been a fast riser and has good bloodlines. His father was a long time NSFL LB.
17. Colorado
- Rapid Eagle DT
The Yeti don’t have many areas of concern, drafting Eagle could give them the scariest DL in the league.
18. New Orleans
- Jerome Davis WR
I tend to underrate WRs in my mocks, so perhaps Davis goes higher than this. If not, NOLA is thrilled to get him here.
19. Yellowknife
- Dougie Smalls K/P
The first specialist is now off the board! It’s a close race in TPE with the top three kickers, I’ll take Smalls here but either of the other two could make sense as well.
20. Austin
- Baby Yoda RB
I think Yoda might get stashed but this is too much value to pass up. I think he’ll be a versatile weapon.
Round 3:
21. Philadelphia
- Jon Bois S
Philly picks up Bois here and asks him to stay in the DSFL one more season, then he could take over for Garnett. I have high expectations for Bois.
22. San Jose
- Rotticus Scott CB
SJ continues to add young talent to their depleted secondary.
23. Orange County
- Remon Kurisuto WR
OC prepares for the continued regression of Blaze.
24. Arizona
- Lefty Louis K/P
AZ waits until the 3rd round to draft their kicker. They don’t have one on the roster so expect them to grab one of the top specialists here.
25. Arizona
- Ed Barker RB
I see the Outlaws grabbing a playmaker at some point pretty early.
26. Orange County
- Logan Noble Jr. DE
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Noble Jr. goes significantly higher than this. Looks like he recently gained a bunch of weight and position switched from RB. What the hell kind of diet was he on?
27. Colorado
- George O’Donnell QB
O’Donnell had an abysmal year in the DSFL, sorry Leafer but you know it’s true. However, there is massive upside here, he’s very motivated. I think in 3-4 seasons O’Donnell will be a top NSFL QB. Maybe not with the Yeti, but it’s his destiny.
28. New Orleans
- Chika Fujiwara QB
Who? This is my quarterback, my teammate. Formerly known as Zero Two she recently changed her name. NOLA is one of the few teams that could make this value, luxury pick. I could tell you Fujiwara is a A+ locker room presence and will patiently be waiting for a starting job. With expansion on the horizon, that might not be too far away.
29. Yellowknife
- Dorfus Jimbo Jr. DE
At a point early in the draft process scouts projected Jimbo Jr. as a top three pick. He’s still a good prospect, he falls a bit due to the strength of the class.
30. Austin
- Larry Longshot DE
Larry might not be that much of a longshot if he keeps up the work. He has 150 TPE right now according to the tracker, a solid number.
Round 4:
31. Colorado
- Red Arrow WR
Arrow is another one of my teammates from KC. He could get picked earlier but there are a lot of WRs in the league. I would be buying his stock right now, he’ll make a team very happy.
32. San Jose
- John Smith K/P
The Sabercats gets their kicker. He’s also known as “Tripod”, I wonder if he kicks with his middle leg…
33. Philadelphia
- Simon Tremblay OL
This is the first OL picked. I have a lot of respect for OL, they are true team players and hard workers. They also have a chance to provide a lot of value over a bot once they’re good enough, they could weigh more which the sim loves and they will most likely cost less against the cap.
34. Arizona
- Juniped Catfish RB
If Catfish is willing to be used a gadget type of player he could see the field early in his career.
35. Baltimore
- Jaune Arc DT
You can’t go wrong taking a chance of defensive linemen. Arc will probably be left to marinate in the DSFL for another season.
36. Orange County
- Rando Cardrissian RB
Rando had a great year as the leading rusher for the Coyotes, with some more development he could find himself on the Otters in S22.
37. Colorado
- Ryan Scott LB
The Yeti have the luxury to be patient with Scott. He will need some more DSFL time for sure.
38. New Orleans
- Bubba Twatford LB
Same story as the previous pick, NOLA can be patient with Twatford and get a better feel for his potential.
39. Yellowknife
- Rainier Wolfcastle TE
If we were drafting players based on name, Wolfcastle would have been a 1st round pick.
40. Austin
- Andrew Nova RB
Nova is going to need another season or two in the DSFL before making the jump. He’s a team player and is willing to take on any role on offense, rushing, receiving, and blocking.
The End. Thanks for reading.

Their offense looks to be set for years to come. Very impressive.
29. Yellowknife

At a point early in the draft process scouts projected Jimbo Jr. as a top three pick. He’s still a good prospect, he falls a bit due to the strength of the class.
30. Austin

Larry might not be that much of a longshot if he keeps up the work. He has 150 TPE right now according to the tracker, a solid number.
Round 4:
31. Colorado

Arrow is another one of my teammates from KC. He could get picked earlier but there are a lot of WRs in the league. I would be buying his stock right now, he’ll make a team very happy.
32. San Jose

The Sabercats gets their kicker. He’s also known as “Tripod”, I wonder if he kicks with his middle leg…
33. Philadelphia

This is the first OL picked. I have a lot of respect for OL, they are true team players and hard workers. They also have a chance to provide a lot of value over a bot once they’re good enough, they could weigh more which the sim loves and they will most likely cost less against the cap.
34. Arizona

If Catfish is willing to be used a gadget type of player he could see the field early in his career.
35. Baltimore

You can’t go wrong taking a chance of defensive linemen. Arc will probably be left to marinate in the DSFL for another season.
36. Orange County

Rando had a great year as the leading rusher for the Coyotes, with some more development he could find himself on the Otters in S22.
37. Colorado

The Yeti have the luxury to be patient with Scott. He will need some more DSFL time for sure.
38. New Orleans

Same story as the previous pick, NOLA can be patient with Twatford and get a better feel for his potential.
39. Yellowknife

If we were drafting players based on name, Wolfcastle would have been a 1st round pick.
40. Austin

Nova is going to need another season or two in the DSFL before making the jump. He’s a team player and is willing to take on any role on offense, rushing, receiving, and blocking.
The End. Thanks for reading.
