Agent Tesla here to do what they should have been doing this whole time by promoting their own prospect instead of researching other ones. Although for those general managers that read this I promise you that my client was working hard the whole time I was scouting out all that valuable data, and I also promise they will be the best player from this draft by the end of their careers.
We have been approached by several teams now with various questions and with a bit more work under both our belts are hoping to provide a public answer to the most important of those questions. Here is hoping it helps any scouts out there know that we mean business. Come get us.
0. Just for those who do not know; please introduce yourself.
"Magnus Rikiya. Nose Tackle out of Washington."
1. One thing several managers and scouts have asked is how you would feel about being a part of their team. So what are your thoughts on the teams as potential landing spots for us Magnus?
"It might not be the best idea to say this, however the Seawolves are my favorite. They were the only team to go out of their way to invite me to their facilities and I thought that we had a super productive meeting. The general manager is someone I get along with famously and honestly has the same aura about them as my agent Tesla. I would be ecstatic to end up playing for them. Especially given some of the supporters they have in the wings.
Coyotes would be second. They were the first team to approach me and I thought the meeting that we had was plenty positive. Would be thrilled to play for them and I think I could do great work with their team. Loved the style that their GM brought to the table and get along well with them.
Luchadores were the last team to contact me however they were very open about the process which was nice. They were quite pleasant in our limited chat and so no complaints from me. They reached out to me and went about it with honesty which is golden in my book.
Grey Ducks were one of the more recent teams to reach out to me. It was a good meeting and their general manager was happy to answer some of the questions that I had as a prospective rookie at the time. No complaints about them whatsoever and I think I would be happy to be a Duck.
Buccaneers were one of the first teams to reach out to me and from what I have seen are one of the most active teams overall when it comes to us draft prospects. Any time I look around at things it seems like Myrtle Beach is there to welcome the draft prospects. The meeting went well and given their defense I think I could work out well there. Zero complaints from me about them.
Royals are a wild card for me. I have nothing positive to say about them, but nothing negative about them either. No contact from them that I am aware of to be honest. If they change their mind and decide I am a must have for their team then I would report in no question, however if they do I would appreciate a face to face about it. Not sure how I would feel playing for a team where I have never spoken to the manager you know?
The Pythons handed out surveys, but never got back to me after the fact. Could just be life getting in the way as I know life comes before football. It could also be I just do not fit into their draft plans. I have no idea what kind of locker room situation I would be stepping into there, although I could do alright even in a hands off environment I would rather avoid such a thing if at all possible.
The Birddogs were one of the first teams to reach out to me and I have to be honest that I do not think that it was a positive experience for either side. It could just be that we got off on the wrong foot and would get along famously after we had time to acclimate. I just don't think it worth the risk for either side to test that theory. Wish them all the best...just not with me."
2. How active do you intend to be? Both in terms of training on the field and talking off the field?
"You can look at the work ethic my agent has shown these past few days and remember that all their scouting work came while I was working on my skills. So as hard as they worked in the media room is how intense my training on the field is going to be. Count on me to be one of the hardest working in any draft class in that regard.
The locker room is tougher for me since I am not a naturally outgoing person. Nor is my agent, but you can check around the rooms and see us around. Ask around and you can see we are both making an effort. Even between the two of us we will never be the best in that regard, however we are on an upward trajectory I think."
3. What is your experience with organizations like the DSFL and NSFL?
Actually, I will field this one since Magnus only has experience with the NCAA. This is my first time as a sports agent to be honest, but not my first time in this line of work. I did work with a mercenary outfit slash civil engineering group a few years ago that required similar work and I feel comfortable saying I did an above average job there.
4. Would you be willing to switch positions?
"I have been a nose tackle my entire career and one of my foremost goals is to be the strongest. That said if it were the right move for the team and myself to change position I would be open to that possibility. There may be something I don't know about the NSFL that may make it necessary for me to make a change in which case I would do so. Even if not necessary if it would be beneficial to both sides I would still be open to it."
5. How are you enjoying the league so far?
"Oh I am in heaven here. Just surrounded by people who love the game that I love and all the work that goes into everything. Being embraced for my work towards this sport makes it all worth it to me."
I will also say I have enjoyed the experience as a sports fan turned sports agent. The scouting reports I made may have taken a lot out of me, but they were genuinely fun to write. Loved the reaction they got from the people.
6. What are you hoping to get out of the league?
I want a place where I can work on both my media skills and entertain my interest in gridiron football. Being able to combine the two is an enormous plus.
"An enjoyable experience."
Agreed.
7. What are you hoping to get out of your client?
This one is for me and I would say I hope to make Magnus the best prospect in not only this draft, but the next NSFL draft as well. We want to be the very best like no one ever was.
8. Is there anything we can do to keep you motivated?
I will say Magnus is a self starter for the most part, but I admit a locker room with geeky interests would work best for us. One where we can unashamedly be the giant geeks that we are, or that I am at least as you can see from the previous answer. Football talk is also understandably welcome as is a friendly atmosphere. Basically the more we like the people around us the more we are going to want to do for those people around us.
9. Do you see yourself producing media or getting a job with the league?
I will field this one as well and say that I have produced over 20,000 words of media in the last week for this league. This is understandably more than I would normally do, but proves that it is very evidently within my potential when push comes to shove. We have also kept our eyes peeled for any league job postings, and I would be open to taking one to help my client along with the league as a whole. So long as it does not require an excessive amount of interaction on my part at least.
10. Any final comments you want to make Magnus?
"You have seen how hard we have worked in the week leading up to the draft. Bet on us and see just how hard we can work for you this season."
Well said. That wraps up this interview. I hope that you learned enough about me and my client to determine where he fits into your draft plans. Should you have any further questions they can be directed to my inbox and I will respond with haste. Thank you very much for your time and I wish all of the general managers and all of the other prospects the best of luck in the draft. See you at the announcements.
