Draft Pick Evaluation and Ranking
This will all be based on personal opinion, and in no particular order position-wise. Just gonna go with what is closest to my heart and for some reason I have decided to do this in descending order at position.
Running Back:
# 5 Frankie Lantz
Most of the running backs in this draft are pretty similar. So it will be very difficult to pin down who exactly should be the top prospect. What is easier to narrow down is who has the motivation to work for that top spot and that is where we find our absolute last pick. Frankie looks to have motivational issues right from the get go. It looks like he was more enamored with the idea of being in the league as opposed to putting in the work and actually succeeding in it.
# 4 Terry Yaki
Terry Yaki started off in the draft preparation strong, but seems to have fizzled out. He was doing everything right, but now it is hard to get in contact with him. Did the pressure get to him? Wss it all just too much? Perhaps we will see a turn around from this relatively recent drop in activity and participation in events, but I wouldn't start counting unhatched chickens.
# 3 King Tutankhamun
These next three were difficult to rank.it doesn't appear that there is a wrong answer, at least not in my eyes, so it came down to personal preference and I'm making my judgement purely based on perceived motivation and excitement. Where I think King may lose out to at least one of the next two, but overall I don't think you could go wrong with taking him above the next two.
# 2 Buster Bawlls
Here is where personal preference comes into 0lay hardcore. Buster is the only back in this draft who has clearly pulled away from the pack in an interesting way. A blocking back, a true fullback maybe picked on his own he wouldn't be a game changer unless you already found your bell cow back. However if he were to be picked along with picks one and two you could get some really intense I formation schemes going. He seems motivationally sound despite being a relatively late entry into the draft, but I have a feeling if picked alongside pick #1 you could run over any team in the league.
# 1 Jameson Vermillion
Maybe I am biased here, ok there is literally no way to not be biased here, but by all realistic standards this is your number one choice. From a motivation standpoint, he is there every day. Excited and hungry he is doing everything right at all times. Constantly reaching out to league veterans for advice and help, even constantly scouting his competition trying to stay s step ahead of the game. When the difference between choices is razor thin, I feel like I know where my choices would go.
Quarterback:
# 6 Matt Peterson
Perhaps this is another instance of personal bias, but scrambling? Quarterbacks scramble only when the defense overruns the line! If you build your career out of running as a quarterback I feel like you have forgotten that their are positions way better suited to that. Skip this guy, get a running back and a quarterback who knows how to throw the ball.
# 5 Trent Blackburn
The pocket passes in this draft didn't seem to pull away from each other at least not any physically measurable way so we flip it to subjective and mental. This guy does not have the mindset to make it in the league. Started hot and burnt out quick, I wouldn't count on him when you need a reliable player under center.
# 4 Bill Brasky
This is where things get dicey. The top four are all set up for success. They can all succeed and basically I wouldn't mind any of these guys under center. Perhaps Bill is the least proven, but from what I can tell there is no reason to doubt him as of yet. Maybe he will make some mistakes from now to then, but he would guaranteed be better than a scrambler.
# 3 Owen Hollaway
While I think Owen can find plenty of success in the league his accuracy and arm might be questionable compared to the top two and his focus on speed may be detrimental to his future in the league, running just doesn't pay off for a quarterback and this guy wants to.
# 2 Jackie Daytona
While I normally would pick the game manager over the pocket passer, I had to go with Jackie Daytona at number two. I just feel like in a long drawn out game he isn't gonna be there. Sure he is known as a game manager, but is that really what we have seen? Still rate him higher than the rest on mindset alone.
# 1 Uncle Rico
This guy has got it all. It's like if you took every positive aspect of this qb draft class and put it into one guy. I wouldn't be afraid to have him still leading the team on a fourth quarter do or die drive. If I were a GM in need of a qb, this would be the guy I went for.
Tight End:
These other classes are getting pretty big so I'm going to stick to a top three from here on unless there are few in that position.
# 3 Cmon Skiuuup
This guy is doing all the things right. I guess a vertical threat tight end is second only to a blocking tight end in my book, but this guy is doing everything he should be all the time, can't complain about that, just needs to make sure he can block too, he would have been number two if it hadn't been for...
# 2 Darren Pama
Solid all rounder here at number two. This guy is number two from motivation alone. He could be the slowest, butter-handsiest tight end in the world and he would still be number two. This guys is everywhere doing all the things! Every time I visit with a scout I open the door to find him there already. That's not all, I go to the gym, he is there. I go for groceries, he is there. I go to the bar, he is there. I go to bed at night, I don't even know how he did it, but he is there.
# 1 Cleg Manclaw
A blocking tight end? Sign me up! Let's get that running game going, if only this guy had a twin to get some real jumbo sets going. When every other tight end is out there all about trying to be the next big recieving threat on the team, be different, open up a hole and run all over the other team. I like this guy.
Wide Receiver:
# 3 Adam C. Spencer
I don't know why I feel so strongly about this guy. I think he could easily go number one overall. This guy really puts in the work, I don't know if this is my favorite style of wide receiver in fact I am certain that it is not, but I wouldn't mind lining up next to him. This guy is going places and whatever team gets him will have a reliable anchor on their side.
# 2 Noah Akerele
This guys is pretty fast. You need guys like this on your team, someone can take the top off of the defense and really open up that running game. This guy will do just that, I can picture this guy drawing double coverage on every play really tying up half a secondary, good player to have and a good player to force your opponent to game plan against.
# 1 Alex Reed
Yeah, everything I said about the last guy, that but more. If Noah will be out there getting double coverage, this guy will be getting triple, he fast, and he is going to make a big splash in this league.
Offensive Line:
So.. this section was hard for me. These guys will be the guys that may block for me one day down the line, I have a tremendous amount of respect for all of them and refuse to offend any of them so they are all #1 in my heart!
The Entire Defense:
I ran into a problem here. All of the defensive linemen in this draft are big and terrifying as well as the linebackers. These guys are going to have free reign to hit me as hard as they can so they are all also #1 congratulations defense, you and offensive linemen tied for the best! Please don't hurt me!
