First season nerves affect every player. Some push through and perform at an elite level and others allow it to get to them too much and end playing a little too conservative. Brach had a year that I believe he should be very proud of. Not only in his accomplishments, but also in the accomplishments of the team. Brach joined a Kansas City Coyotes team that had just missed the playoffs and finished dead last the season prior. He was able to play a couple games for them after being a waiver pickup but, his true contributions would not start until this season. As I said before the Kansas City Coyotes were in dead last and then the draft happened. Being selected with the first pick in the third round Brach did not seem like he had a lot of pressure to go out and perform at the level you would expect first rounders like Zoe Watts, Maverick Bowie, and his fellow teammate Asher Montain too, but in my opinion he did. Lets breakdown his first season and take a look at all those wonderful stats that he provided. Brach ended the season with 100 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery, and 6 sacks. To have hit the 100 tackle mark meant the world to me as a user. I felt like 100 tackles showed that my player was making an impact and that is all I wanted out of my rookie season down here in the DSFL. I believe success was also measured in the performance of the team as a whole. The team went from dead last all the way up to making the playoffs, winning in the first round, and just coming up short in the Ultimini. A spectacular turn around that we over at Kansas City were extremely proud of! So now that you have seen the overall view of Brach Thomaslachers rookie season over here at Kansas City, let us take a closer look at his individual performances throughout the season.
In Brach's first regular season game against the London Royals the defense was a forced to be reckoned with. No player put up eye popping stats that stood out but the defensive unit as a whole did. Holding the Royals to only 6 points Brach added 5 tackles and his first career sack to the stat line that propelled the Kansas City Coyotes to our first win of the season. The next week did not go as well from a team standpoint as the Norfolk Seawolves put us in our place with a pretty handy 27-10 whooping. However, Brach had a heck of a game with 13 tackles, 1 sack and his first forced fumble. He also earned his first Defensive Player of the Game honors with that performance. The next week the team bounced back with a nice win over the Buccaneers and had a relatively quiet game with just 5 tackles. The winning ways continued as the coyotes went on to demolsih the luchadores 33-6 and improve their season to 3-1. Again, brach was quiet this game and added only 5 tackles to the stat line, but the team was winning and that was great! Next up the Coyotes played the Birddogs in what was arguably the clostest game all season as the Birddogs ended up beating the Coyotes 15-14 with a 4th quarter field goal. Brach had another nice game totalling 8 tackles and another sack, which put him at 3 for the season. Coming into the last game of the first half of the season Brach and the team really started to hit their stride. He amassed another 10 tackles and added another tackle for a loss to his stat line. The next 3 games everything was going great for KC as they beat London, Norfolk and Myrtle Beach to im prove to 7-3 on the season. During those 3 games Brach amassed 19 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss and his first career fumble recovery. Sitting at 7-3 Kansas city had already clinched a playoff spot and things were looking great. Moving into the last 4 games of the season Brach was moved to Defensive End and finalized the last 4 games with 24 tackles and 2 more sacks. He also earned his second Defensive Player of the game award in the Week 14 loss to portland as he amaassed 10 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack. As the regular season ended, Kansas City was on a 4 game losing streak but, had still managed to clinch the first seed in the NFC North which meant they would have the all important home field advantage in the first round!
Kansas City Squared off against the London Royals in the conference finals and it was definitely a game that did not dissapoint. With the final score being a Kansas City win of 14-13. A defensive showdown that came down to a crucial sack by Kansas City to know the Royals out of field goal range and force a turnover on downs with just over a minute left in the game. Brach led the way in Kansas City with 9 tackles. The win meant that the team would be headed to the Ultimini to face Norfolk. Expectations were low coming into the game as Norfolk not only had homefield advantage but, were also just a powerhouse in the league. Kansas City came out with a stout defense in the first half with Brach gathering up 6 tackles and a sack by half time. However, moving into the second half the defense just did not have any answers for the Norfolk push and Brach only gathered 2 more tackles. Ending the season with a loss is always tough but, it was a great season for both the team and Brach Thomaslacher.
As a user I could not have been happier with my performance! Brach was taken in the 3rd round and was nominated for the Linebacker of the Year Award and it was all in all I very special season that was wrapped up nicely being selected in the first round by Yellow Knife. I am excited to see what the future holds and how many more tackles Brach Thomaslacher will be getting!
