My Top 8 QB Fantasy Football Rankings
When I saw that there was a fantasy football league to go alongside this league I got super excited. Fantasy football is one of my favorite pastimes during the actual NFL season. Doing these rankings was mostly to help myself learn some of the league leaders to familiarize myself with the league. Keep in mind this is my first time in a sim league and I don’t actually know anything about the sim engine and only have past stats to go off of. I also am hoping I calculated all the fantasy points correctly to help guide my rankings.
QB1 - Jay Cue
Comes as no surprise that the highest TPE QB comes in at number 1. Finishing with 3944 yards on 587 attempts was the best in the league. Cue led the league in touchdowns with 27. Where Cue further set himself away from the pack was in his rushing yards with 583 yards and 5 touchdowns. I see him continuing this dominating stat line in the coming season.
QB2 - Wolfie McDummy
Wow the second highest TPE QB is ranked at number 2! McDummy finished last season as the QB2 and I can see it happening again. Finishing with 3792 yards on 600 attempts and 18 TDs. He led the league in passing attempts. He continued to add to his totals with 550 yards on the ground with 5 touchdowns, very similar to Jay.
QB3 - Dexter Banks II
This is where it gets maybe spicy? The 4th highest TPE QB coming in at 3rd. Big moves. Dexter finished as the QB 4 last season but I see him bumping up a spot. Dexter finished with 3453 passing yards on 510 attempts with 21 TDs. His rushing totals are why he is ranked highly. Finishing the season with 414 yards and 4 TDs.
QB4 - Franklin Armstrong
Alright its spice time. Why is the 7th highest TPE QB up so high? Franklin ranked 3rd in rushing yards from QBs with 436 yards and 5 TDs. I almost put him at number 3 but I see his touchdown numbers regressing a hair from 24 TDs down to maybe 16-20. His passing numbers will probably stay roughly the same as last year where he finished with 3492 yards on 493 attempts.
QB5 - Easton Cole
This is where there is a clear cutoff in QB tier, fantasy wise. Cole doesn’t have the elite rushing stats as the previous QBs as he finished with 208 yards and 2 TDs. This isn’t as bad as some QBs in the league but isn’t in that elite category. His passing is where his magic happens as he finished the season with 3821 yards and 21 TDs. If Easton can improve his running game his ceiling can be in the top 2 QB finishes.
QB6 - Colby Jack
We’ve got a rookie in the top 6. The reason Colby is up here so high is because of his speed. Colby has a higher ceiling than some of the previous QBs, but he is a rookie and we don’t know how he is going to perform. His DSFL stats don’t really matter because from my understanding TPE gets capped at 250. Don’t be surprised if he winds up with 3000+ passing yards and 300+ rushing yards.
QB7 - George O’Donnell
QB7 marks the point where a QB might not get drafted in a 6 team league. George may be a sleeper because he finished with a very low amount of TDs last season at 10 and that has to go up. He also has moderate rushing ability, racking in 112 yards last season. He also set up for success by being on the field with the 2 of the best receivers in the league in Sean O’Leary and Bender B. Rodriguez.
QB8 - Corvo Harvan
The last QB I have ranked is Corvo. Corvo finished last year with 3492 yards and 13TDs on 492 attempts. I expect Corvos attempts to go up which will increase his yardage. His TDs were also a bit low compared to other QBs of similar skill so that will more than likely normalize. He also has decent rushing ability as he finished with 142 yards. If you are drafting Corvo you are banking on his passing touchdowns and rushing yards to increase.
That concludes all the QBs that I think are viable to be drafted based on last year's stats and the 2 rookies coming in. If you’re wondering where Brock Phoenix is as he is the 3rd highest TPE QB just go look at his last seasons rushing yards. Spoiler alert: it's under 100. As for Fujiwara and Monty Jack I don’t think they have the skills to jump into the top 8. Slothlisberger is a rookie who doesn’t really have any rushing ability so it’s hard to predict where he will come into the equation.
