Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Green Bay's favorite sport talk column!!
This is 10 outta 10, and I'm your host Richard Littlewood.
Today's episode, hits really close to home for me... Because this time I have the chance, the privilege, no!, the honor to tell you about my mentor, colleague and friend!
Today It's with all my dedication I'll try to explain in just 10 simple reasons why Mister Legally Blind Gamer aka "Derek Wildstar" it's one of the best options if not THE best for that juicy first overall pick on our s25 dsfl draft so put your seat belts on cuz here we go!
1) he's a Sim league veteran!
That's pretty much self explanatory, not only he's a veteran of Sim leagues but a pro baseball experience living legend, former head office member and currently GM of his own minors team.
What that tells us it's that's he's organized and knowledgeable about what's going on behind the curtain, he knows what to expect from a rookie and will do everything in his power to make sure his teamates excel! Not only that but he already knows what winning it all and rebuilding is and will prove himself a valuable asset to the organization willing to give him the chance.
2)he's just an adorable human being.
Just like you've just read, in all the time I've shared with legally blind gamer I just fell in love with how good of a person he is, caring, dedicated, and always putting a smile on the face of the people surrounding him, he knows me on my ups and downs and I got to say that it really comforted me knowing he was there if I ever needed to talk with someone when I was having to deal with irl stuff... All in all he is a 10 outta 10 by himself.
3)lockeroom presence.
This guy will always be around and always will have something different to chat about...
Small talk... Check
Sports... Check
Old movies... Watch aaaaand check
If you need someone to light up your lockeroom and make it a vibrant place full of life, then Mister legally blind Gamer its your go to pick.
But that's not all, he's a numbers guy as well and knows how importan that 1% extra chances matter when you're looking for that sweet sweet gold! Do I have to continue?
Of course I have! This wouldn't be a real 10 outta 10 episode if I wouldn't cover everything!!!
4) he is a humble guy!
This is something sometimes overlooked.
But I'm going to be completely honest.
If I had half the accolades this guy had? I would be a complete and utterly Jerk!
For real... For someone that knew gold and enjoyed a long career like he had in the pro baseball experience I only would move to other leagues just to make everyone know that I know my stuff and better move aside because big dick is back in town!
But not him, he just takes one game at a time and will enjoy a long and productive career that will only end once regression forces him to retire and not 1 day earlier than that!
5)he's from Texas!
How can I explain this... Legaly blind gamer lives in a place of the world that breathes, sleeps, eats and breeds football.
The only place that could compare with how much football an average texan could watch would be in Green Bay.
And even then as they say "Everything is bigger down in Texas" so he's literally been born to come here and dominate from day one!!
Let this cowboy eat some beef and talk football as nobody will understand the game better than him!!
OK let's move up from the person and let's analize the player now.
6) Breed for greatness
When your daddy is an All Star Legend and coach, you know that from the day you are born that you will be playing football... There's no way around it. You will watch football three times a day for the rest of your life, love it or hate it this is your life now, and Wildstar loves it, playing from pee wee all the way up to Division 1 college ball and hopefully now into the pros, there's not a single minute of the day where this kid ain't watching or playing football.
7) Flexible
Playing from such a young age, he learned the ins and outs of most positions, and played several different roles across his career, from wide receiver to kick returns to free safety and strong one as well, Wildstar did it all and most of the time he surpassed everyones expectations. Only the sky is the limit for someone so resourceful like Derek.
8)humble
Even if the football gods blessed him with an unbelievable combination of genetics, talent and a superhuman football IQ, The young Derek Wildstar knows there's still much to learn and to polish on his game, this makes him a great lockeroom presence and it's a valuable trait that could help him reach new heights with the correct training.
Even if that, for some reason it's not the case, I personally trust that he will still stay down to earth and even if slower will keep progressing onto the player he deserves to be.
9)hard working
I've said it earlier, he loves the sport and it's all the time either working on his game or studying film trying to get one step ahead of the opponent, it's this kind of dedication the one that separates generational talent from the really good players that fell short for a poor training philosophy, just be aware that it will be hard to take him off the field and make him rest as too much training could put him on the injury reserve list and nobody wants a star player getting hurt! Specially when the injury could be prevented by making him rest a bit.
10)consistency it's his middle name
That's right folks, Mister Wildstar here loves to pump his average numbers, not by bursts of one game performances but by slowly grinding his numbers and making them bigger game by game, whenever you read that he averages 1.5 interceptions per game remember that in a couple weeks he will intercept 2 balls each game soon after and that number it's only getting bigger!
Well ladies and gentlemen there you have it, 10 outta 10 episode 3
