Hey everyone, it has been a bit since my last article as we are now at the midway point of the DSFL season. I wanted to take a look at home some of my preseason predictions were doing at this point of the year. So without much further ado, here we go:
1. The Myrtle Beach Buccaneers will make the playoffs
Well through 7 games, the team is 6 -1 with a three game lead over Tijuana and are 5 games from third place. At this point of the season I feel pretty safe saying we are going to make the playoffs. Our team is firing on all cylinders and I just can't see us having a monumental collapse that would cost us a playoff berth. Overall, I am going to give myself a A+ for this prediction
2. Jackie Daytona will win S25 Offensive player of the year
Daytona has come out firing this year and currently leads the league with over 1300 passing yards this season. He is also second in touchdowns while only throwing two interceptions at this point of the season. He is the best QB in the league and our team has the best record as well. I see no reason to expect Daytona is not the frontrunner for the player of the year award. However, I did say that he would throw 25 or more touchdowns and that is looking like it will not happen (he has 8 so far). So overall I can not give myself an A+ but rather will have to settle for a B.
I made two mini predictions in my original article as well related to this point. They were that McJimmerson and Reed would make the Pro Bowl. Right now McJimmerson is a force to be reckoned with and Reed is a prime redzone target with 5 TDs. I feel very strongly both should be garner consideration for the pro bowl and McJimmerson has a chance to be a real star especially if he is allowed to return kicks for the rest of the season.
3. I will have 700 yards receiving
My last prediction was that I would more than double my previous season receiving total and put up 700 yards in the 14 games in the DSFL this year. Well through 7 games I have gone for 489 yards so I am well on pace. While I don't really think I have a shot at 1000 this season I suppose anything would be possible. Right now I have little doubt I will hit my preseason goal of 700 yards and thus will give myself a grade of an A for this prediction.
I owe a lot of my success to my teammates as they have all worked hard to get me open and deliver me the ball. I also want to give a shout out Callous on the BirdDogs. Seeing you work every week gives me motivation to go out and compete with you. It will be a fierce competition down the stretch between us to see who ends up with the most yards. Regardless of the outcome I look forward to keeping up a professional rivalry as we move into the ISFL in the near future.
Final Grade
The final grade I give myself is an A-. I was extremely high on our team heading into the season and I have not been disappointed with our performance. I really believe this team has what it takes to win the division this season and be a threat to win the ultimini at season end. Anything less than a shot at the title would be a disappointment at this time.
I am excited to see the rest of the season play out and hope all of you watching at home are ready for a good time. The Buccaneers are going to keep fighting and improving each week until we are the best team in the DSFL.
Much luv,
Zach
