Good morning,
Let's go over which teams are hot tacos and which ones are cold pasta.
Number One Team after four weeks :
Orange County Otters - Four and Zero. Two wins on the road and two at home.
Well, I guess it is hard to argue against the only undefeated team in the league after four weeks. They are primarily doing this be scoring tons and tons of points. They lead the league in points scored by a decent margin having put up 145, which is seventeen more than the second highest scoring team. They have a middle of the road defense having allowed 87 points so far. Almost thirty more than the team with the least allowed points. But if you always outscore your opponent, you still going to win a lot of games. They are averaging thirty six points a game and only allowing right below twenty two points a game. Yea, that will usually do it. They almost lost their season opener against Austin Copperheads, but they did just barely manage a forty five to forty three win. The other three games were all pretty easily won only allowing at most twenty one points. The real test will be tonight when they face the three and one New Orleans Second Line. They are a top six team with a really good defense. Should be a good game and give us some insight into just how good this Otters team is. The Otters are fourth in passing with just over one thousand passing yards and ninth in rushing yards with a hair over five hundred yards. A pretty balanced attacked, though they definitely lean towards the passing game with two very good tight ends and one really good wideout and another up and coming diva wideout.
Number Two Team :
Sarasota Sailfish - Three and One. Two wins at home and split the road games.
There are currently four teams with a record of three and one. They are all pretty similar as far as point differential. Sarasota scores the most points of the four and still has the second best defense as far as points allowed. They have scored the third most points so far, only behind the Otters and the one and three Outlaws. They have put up one hundred and twenty two points for an average of thirty points a game while only allowing sixty eight for an average of seventeen a game. That is a pretty good split. Their one loss was the season opener at the Yeti, being the season opener I don't put too much stock in it. The did beat the Chicago Butchers to hand them their only loss in week four. Their other two wins were both blow out wins against middle of the road and below teams. Their next real test will be week seven against the Yellowknife Wraiths, also a three and one team. the Sailfish rely heavily on their passing attack to put up points using Mike Boss, Chan, and their tight end and wide outs to get it done. As you would guess, to go with their number passing attack is the last place rushing attack.
Number Three Team :
Yellowknife Wraiths - Three and One. Two wins at home and the split the away games.
Best defense in the league as far as allowing points go. After four games they have allowed a grand total of fifty nine points, for an average of just under fifteen points a game. No team has scored more than twenty two points against the Wraiths so far. And that was their one loss to the Copperheads and it was a one possession game the Wraiths almost pulled out. On offense they have put up ninety four points for an average of twenty three and half points a game. Part of that average being so low is they only scored fourteen against the Hawks in week two. They sit right in the middle at eighth in passing attack with exactly one thousand yards. On the rushing side of the game they are third with six hundred and twenty eight yards and the second most efficient with an average of four point five yards a carry. Weeks six and seven will be the test of this team as they face two three and one teams back to back. Week six they face the Butchers and week seven the Sailfish, both in division rivals, so after week seven is over we should have a good idea of which team is clearly in control of this division. Or a bloody mess with four teams all around the same record. They are doing this with help from a quarter back, tight end and running back from season twenty two and their top receiver from season twenty three. On defense they are lead by their top linebacker and two defensive ends, from season twenty one and twenty two. This team looks poised to cause some issues for other teams, it is always hard to win games when you can't put points up.
Number Four Team :
New Orleans Second Line - Three and One. Two wins on the road and split the home games.
They have gotten their three wins with a solid offense and a good defense. They have allowed the fourth least points so far and scored the fifth most so far. A good recipe for winning, be in the top five for offense and defense. They have scored ninety six points for an average of twenty four points a game while giving up seventy four for an average of eighteen and a half a game. Their one loss was a close one to the Liberty in a twenty to fifteen loss. Two of their wins were single possession wins both by exactly three points, hard to rely on close games going your way all season long, but it is early in the season still. They do have a tough game tonight versus the undefeated Otters, if they can pull out the win they will be tied, record wise, for the number spot in their division. New Orleans is mostly getting their wins via their defense, they have the number one defense for scoring, and on offense their rushing attack is their best feature with slightly over five hundred yards and four touchdowns. For their passing game they are second to last in yards with 771 yards in the air and just four touchdowns. Their defense is led by their season nineteen safety, season twenty two nose tackle, and their season eighteen and twenty two corner backs. Over all, defense can win championships as long as the offense can put up just enough points, and so far this is good for three wins and only one loss.
That's it for now.
