Just a little disclaimer, I'm writing this because I, like many of you, lost some (a lot of) money on tonight's game. Specifically on the Sarasota Sailfish @ Berlin Fire Salamanders over/under bet. Like many of you, I heard that it was a pretty good idea to place a bet on the over for the game. Unfortunately, that bet didn't exactly pan out for me, or anyone else that took the over like me. Sooooooo now I'm down five million fake ISFL dollars and now I need more money to be able to buy my sweet sweet equipment. 2500 words to make back my money. So anyway, here's why gambling is bad.
The first reason that gambling is bad is that gambling is an addiction, and addiction is an illness. When you win while gambling, you feel good. You win money, or whatever else you bet. Your pituitary gland releases endorphins, which reduce feelings of pain, and in this case, amplify feelings of pleasure, similar to opioids. This affects your judgement, and makes it more likely to make risky bets while gambling that you otherwise wouldn't make. This increases the chances of you starting to lose money. The problems caused by gambling, especially losing, are not only financial. When people spend too much time gambling, it can cause relationship problems, legal problems, and job loss. These issues can lead to mental health problems, like anxiety and depression. These gambling problems affect even the most prominent members of society.
If you have a gambling problem, you can get help. Did you bet too much on certain lines? Lose big time? Is your bank account scorp level low? You too can find help, by writing media. Sure, gambling is faster, and even funner, as I said before, it triggers the release of endorphins in your brain. But media is so much more of a secure way to increase your bank account. You can write about literally anything league related, and get payed ludicrous amounts for it. I haven't even been writing that much and already I'd be making almost half a million dollars. Twitter payouts also give you money, but not as much as straight media would. Twitter pays out 700k per week, which is still a pretty good check. One thing you could do is buy dotts packs, then write an article about the cards you get. With the prices lowered from 500k per pack to just 100k per pack, it is extremely easy to make money off of them. Unless you're like me, and can't get on the website because it isn't currently working on mobile, dotts is a great option not only for getting cool stuff, but also making profit. Yet another option to make money which is much safer than gambling is graphics. I wouldn't personally know how easy it is to make money off of graphics, because I'm not good at them, but many members of the league who have upwards of one hundred million dollars. If you can make good graphics, that's easy money in the bank. It is more effort than gambling, but it's easier than media and makes a lot more money. It's definitely a really great option.
Well, I originally planned to make this a lot longer so I could pay off my gambling debts, but as you can see, it is NOT easy to make that money back, which is why I suggest you don't throw it away by gambling like I did. If you have a lot of money, then by all means have fun with it, but don't get too carried away with it. Don't put half your money on one bet, because even if it has favorable odds, you still might lose and end up in a situation like I am now. Not even close to 2500 words, still scraping for cash.
