Before I begin, I generally only focus on the league that I am in when I am doing my sim things, so I will not be reviewing too in depth on ISFL if I even do it at all, and am more focusing on the DSFL side. Also I don’t know how the awards really work here , so I am going based on the assumption that if someone wins MVP they do not get the award for best Offense / Defensive Player.
My quick predictions for DSFL Awards
MVP – Xavier Walls. 102 - TKL 4 - TFL 7/3 - FF/FR 11 - SCK 4 - INT 14 - PD 1 - TD
The numbers that walls put up were so damn insane. Over 100 tackles numerous sacks and some interceptions. Just honestly an absolute FORCE. I don’t think its often you see a defensive player dominate like Walls did this season and may be the only defense player on the ballot. Those numbers are just to well around all over the board that even though the offensive numbers were up there I just can not imagine this going to someone else.
Offensive Player – Lonnie Jackson. 348 - Att 1676 - Yards 4.8 - Avg 55 - Lg 11 - TD | | 8 - Catch 53 - Yards 6.6 - Avg 16 - Lg 1 - TD | | 8 - Pancakes 2 - Scks Allowed | | 24 - KR 532 - KR Yards 22.2 - KR Avg 42 - KR Lg | | 25 - PR 183 - 7.3 - PR Avg 16 - PR Lg
I am going to do the not normal and go with a non quarterback. Jackson was a defining factor in getting Tijuana to be the winner of their division. He put up numbers if his own yards that was equivalent to about 75 percent that of what his quarterback through. A threat on all sides of the ball, Offense and special teams. Lonnie is just a big time star here on the Tijuana Luchadores, and I look to see him dominate the league for some time to come until he gets called up. Except of course when he plays Bondi in which he can just run to me so I can notch some tackles.
Offensive Rookie – Chevvy Bronko 72 - Catch 933 - Yards 13 - Avg 53 - Lg 5 - TD | | 19 - Pancakes 0 - Scks Allowed
This was a tough one for me, but when I looked at these numbers that got put up at tight end, versus those that were wide receivers. It was too close of a call for players who majority of the time are probably not looked at in the passing game and is more favorable to the wide out. Not only that but the blocking aspect not allowing any sacks on the season shows a well rounded game. These numbers are akin to those of Travis Kelce or Zach Ertz in the NFL. And Chevvy on his was responsible for 28% of all of Bondi Beach’s air attack. Big time numbers they are just huge for a Tight end putting up so close to that of the wide outs I believe they should get the nod.
Quarter Back – Joliet Christ JR - 326 - Comp 535 - Att 4103 - Yards 60.9 - Pct 87 - Lg 29 - TD 17 - INT 89.6 – QBR
I was almost going to go with LJ3 but to me the big factor was the lack of attempts that LJ had in comparison to the other QBs. It seemed a bit unjustifiable in my opinion. Christ vs Zaylren was the real call to me as they both put up about 90 Quarter back rating And similar stat lines. That being said Christ had near 100 more pass attempts and just seemed to be the more trustable option here.
Running Back – Lonnie Jackson.
Same reasonings as before, just an absolute force and a big factor towards Tijuana’s run into the playoffs and winning the division. If they can not win multiple awards then my second choice would be Manhattan Project. Just had the better starts overall in my opinion if I had to choose someone different than Lonnie here.
Wide Receiver – Saleem Spence 72 - Comp 1262 - Yards 17.5 - Avg 70 - Lg 13 – TD
What put me is here is that Bay did have nasty numbers but this was close enough numbers on more than 20 less receptions. Spence did big time work here for the team and it shows a dependable playmaker that can make things happen and put points and yards on the board. Im curious to see if there is a deep dive on stats that can show like how many passes were thrown toward them and what the catch rate was. Maybe its something we can look into in the future for determining stats also.
Tight End – Chevvy Bronko.
The numbers were just so many compared to the others, led all Tight Ends in multiple categories. But basing it off my rule of not allowing 2 awards to one player. I would go with Joey Marston. They were just the next inline with close to the same numbers and a few more touchdowns. Both of these Tight Ends are big time forces for the time coming.
Offensive Line – Keane Lover.
They broke the record for pancakes and allowed ZERO sacks. I think that’s enough said.
Defensive Player – Sir Peter Jackson. (Once again based off no more than 1 award allowed per player) 76 - TKL 4/1 - FF/FR 7 - INT 26 - PD 1 - TD
Crazy big plays from a cornerback. Jackson was the definition I am assuming of Lockdown. 26 deflections and 7 picks. You can just not throw the ball their way. Don’t do it. Big numbers in my opinion for tackles for a corner. Just based on my baseline of what is considered a good stat. Big time stuff.
Defensive Rookie – Tre’Mendus Johnson. 133 - TKL 6 - TFL 0/0 - FF/FR 1 - SCK 0 - INT 8 - PD 0 - TD 1 - BLK P
I actually would of said Peter Jackson, but the 1 award rule. Johnson Took the league by storm for LBs and was the league leader in tackles. Not nothing to really scoff at, but I think when someone comes into the league and just out puts the numbers more than the other rookies and even the vets who are way more developed you can not look too far past it. Don’t forget the blocked Punt. Not many blocks this season happened.
Defensive End – Glenn Smart 57 - TKL 14 - TFL 5/1 - FF/FR 11 – SCK
I didn’t know Aaron Donald was having an identity crisis and decided to start over in the DSFL. Absolute monster here coming out of London. 11 Sacks, big time tackles. Offenses need to AVOID THIS MAN at all costs. If they even can who knows he likely just over powers it anyway and still gets the job done. BEAST.
Defensive Tackle – Primo Berto - 78 - TKL 6 - TFL 0/0 - FF/FR 4 – SCK
I don’t think I have seen that many tackles by a Tackle before. So just a beastly season here. Got the job done stopped the run when needed and just pulled the weight they needed to.
Linebacker – Dexter Hall
If I couldn’t run back Walls or Tre here, Halls is the next in line. Big time tackles but also the pass protector on top of it should have them included in some talks, as well as the big time playmaker with 3 Forced Fumbles.
Cornerback – Peter Jackson
OK Its hard not justifying the players I may have gave other awards too. These numbers were just too disgusting to not change the rule up at this point. Best lockdown Corner in the league, my only question again is Schwarzer I think as choice 2, less tackles, but still just as much on the lockdown, and I think the big factor here is if we were able to see a allowed catch percentage or something.
Safety – Kelvin Harris
This was a tough one, because it comes down to what stats do you value more. However the amount of Picks and Deflections are what set this apart as opposed to the tackles that may have been out gained on by Romulus Roman. Big time competition here at this one.
Kicker – Gluteus Maximus
He kicked the ball far and accurately
Punter – Gluteus Maximus / 2nd Choice Freddy Bly
Same as above
Returner – Tinghzpahcbol
That kick average is insane, Given the amount of less returns and only missing the yard total by 50. Can not complain too much.
Well that about wraps it up for me. As I said I don’t know how awards work so this is based off people not being able to take multiple awards. My actual Call would be Walls sweeping all the Defense and MVP categories, and Peter Jackson doing the same.
Thanks for reading and lets see what comes from these awards on Tuesday night.
