Charity Even 2x Media Claim
I had a lot of fun doing this for S27, so I figured I would do it again for S28.
I took all the results from S28 and flipped any game that finished by a margin of 8 points or less (didn't look into the data but it seems like 2 PT Conversions are converted at a fairly high rate). If a team won by 8 or less that result was flipped to a loss and if a team loss by 8 or less that result was flipped to a win.
ASFC
Arizona Outlaws
The Outlaws were once again a top team in the ISFL. They finished up S28 with a 12-4 record and the #1 seed in the ASFC but couldn't quite get to the Ultimus when they were upset by Austin in the ASFC Championship game.
Let's take a look at how Arizona's season would have went if their close games were flipped:
![[Image: Lvpv5Pr.png]](https://i.imgur.com/Lvpv5Pr.png)
Arizona would have stayed at 12-4 and kept the #1 Seed in the ASFC. They had a total of 8 games flipped, splitting it down the middle at 4-4.
Austin Copperheads
Austin had a bounce back year after a disappointing S27 showing where they finished 3-13. In Season 28 Austin was able to finish with a 9-7 record and the #3 and rode that playoff berth all the way to the Ultimus where the fell to Yellowknife. Let's see how their season would have changed if close games flipped:
![[Image: 5YQ1XYm.png]](https://i.imgur.com/5YQ1XYm.png)
Austin's record improved slightly going from 9-7 to 10-6 and securing that #2 seed in the ASFC. Austin had 11 games flip in total 6 wins and 5 losses.
Honolulu Hahalua
After being the biggest surprise in S27 Honolulu just missed out on the playoffs in S28. The Hahalua ended up finishing with a 9-7 record, if it weren't for the tiebreakers Honolulu would've been back in the playoff field.
Would their season have been changed much if their close games were flipped?
![[Image: lqx5FPe.png]](https://i.imgur.com/lqx5FPe.png)
Honolulu had a lot of close games, 12 to be exact. They had 4 games flip to a win and 8 to a loss. The Hahalua would have seen their record fall from 9-7 down to 5-11 and a top 5 pick in the ISFL draft.
New Orleans Secondline
New Orleans had a great season 27, the record was above average at 9-7 and they were able to make it all the way to the Ultimus where they lost to Sarasota. S28 didn't treat them as kindly as they limped to the end of the season with a 5-11 record.
If the games were flipped could they have made another run to the Ultimus?
![[Image: 99G6t4r.png]](https://i.imgur.com/99G6t4r.png)
New Orleans saw their season slightly improve from 5-11 to 6-10. The team would've still finished in the bottom half of the league with that record. They had a decent amount of games flip at 5 with 3 wins and 2 losses.
New York Silverbacks
After a surprising S26 playoff appearance as the #1 seed the Silverbacks floundered a bit in S27 finishing at 7-9. Hopes were high coming into S28 and the gorillas of New York did not disappoint. New York were able to finish the season with a 10-6 record and the #2 seed in the ASFC where they were upset by Austin in the first round.
Would they still hold that #2 seed with the changed results? Let's take a look at their flipped results.
![[Image: w1A7Lga.png]](https://i.imgur.com/w1A7Lga.png)
New York played in a lot of games with two score margins. The Silverbacks had a total of 9 games flip with 2 wins and 7 losses. This team fell the hardest in the ASFC going from 10-6 to 5-11 and being at the bottom of the league.
Orange County Otters
The Otters like to play close games. I am sure the league is very aware. The team missed out on the playoffs in S27 and they also missed it in S28 going 7-9.
Would the Orange boys be able to make it into the playoffs with one score games flipped?
![[Image: V0RTqEN.png]](https://i.imgur.com/V0RTqEN.png)
The Otters saw a slight increase in their record going from 7-9 to 9-7. The Otters had 10 games flipped resulting in 6 wins and 4 losses. This was actually good enough to get Orange County into the playoffs with a couple head to head victories of our next team...
San Jose SaberCats
San Jose didn't have a lot of hype coming into S28 and their record reflected that with a 5-11 finish. That being said the SaberCats weren't exactly an easy win for a lot of teams.
Would San Jose be able to rewrite their season if the script was flipped in close games?
![[Image: YzibBGS.png]](https://i.imgur.com/YzibBGS.png)
San Jose had a TON of close games, they had a total of 12 games flip in S28. This resulted in 8 wins and 4 losses pushing their record from 5-11 to 9-7. The Cats would have still missed the playoff due to their head to head tiebreaker against Orange County.
Playoffs
The playoff picture who have been altered slightly with 1 score games flipping results.
![[Image: PHLwr9o.png]](https://i.imgur.com/PHLwr9o.png)
Honolulu would still have finished with the #1 seed at 10-5-1 and New Orleans would've moved up to the #2 seed at 10-6. The Otters streak would have continued as they clinched the #3 at 8-8 with a couple head to head tie breakers over Arizona & Austin.
Overall Look
![[Image: 5kzfynr.png]](https://i.imgur.com/5kzfynr.png)
Overall only one playoff team would have changed with Orange County getting in and San Jose missing out. Austin would have also moved up from the #3 seed to the #2 seed.
There were lot of 1 score games for teams in the ASFC this season. We had 4 teams with double digit one score games: Honolulu/San Jose (12), Austin (11) and Orange County (10)
New Orleans had the lowest amount of one score games with 5.
Arizona was the only team to have the exact same record.
NSFC
Baltimore Hawks
Baltimore finished the S27 at 0-16. This wasn't surprising as Baltimore gutted the roster and were building up from scratch. Baltimore was able to improve slightly and go 2-14 but still finished with the #1 overall pick.
Could their lowly record improved with one score games flipped?
![[Image: rh8o2uk.png]](https://i.imgur.com/rh8o2uk.png)
Baltimore would've stayed exactly the same at 2-14. The hawks only had 2 games flip were they split 1 win and 1 loss. The Hawks would've still secured the #1 overall pick with that record.
Berlin Fire Salamanders
Berlin had a lot of hype coming into S28. The team had been steadily building for a few seasons and were looking to make the move to the playoffs. The Fire Salamanders crushed the regular season finishing with a 12-4 record and the #1 seed in the NSFC.
Would Berlin still hold onto that #1 seed with one score games flipped?
![[Image: 2bLnBIb.png]](https://i.imgur.com/2bLnBIb.png)
Berlin slipped a bit in the wins column. Berlin had 10 games flip, resulting in 4 wins and 6 losses. They fell from 12-4 to 10-6 but still would've made the playoffs.
Chicago Butchers
Chicago had a big question mark coming into S28. They were one of those teams, users could not really predict where they would finish. The Butchers had below average season at 6-10 and a Top 5 draft pick.
Would the snack bitten butchers see a change in their record with games flipped?
![[Image: 8xXm1Zi.png]](https://i.imgur.com/8xXm1Zi.png)
The Butchers saw quite a bump in their win totals going from 6-10 to 10-6. The Butchers had a lot of games flip, in 12 flips they had 8 wins and 4 losses.
Colorado Yeti
The Yeti were expected to compete for yet another playoff berth in S28. The Yeti were average all year and finished at 8-8, right smack dab in the middle.
Would the Yeti make that playoff appearance with their flipped games?
![[Image: SsiysOa.png]](https://i.imgur.com/SsiysOa.png)
The Yeti saw a very slight decrease going from 8-8 to 7-9. The Yeti had 9 games flipped with 4 wins and 5 losses. The Yeti would have still finished in the bottom half of the league.
Philadelphia Liberty
The Liberty in S27 had lot of close games and that was the whole basis of starting this series. The Liberty were expected to be more formidable in S28 but still be in the bottom half of the league. They ended up finished 6-10 and securing the #4 pick in the S29 draft.
The Liberty were more formidable but how would their record changed in flipped games?
![[Image: 04S0Q2K.png]](https://i.imgur.com/04S0Q2K.png)
The Liberty's record would not have changed in flipped games. The Liberty stayed at 6-10. Philly had 8 games flipped splitting it with 4 wins and 4 losses.
Sarasota Sailfish
The Sailfish were coming off their first Ultimus win and were expected to again be one of the top teams in the league. Sarasota did just that finishing at 10-6 and the #3 seed in the NSFC where they lost in the first round to Yellowknife.
Could the fish improve their record with flipped games?
![[Image: HhJQBFX.png]](https://i.imgur.com/HhJQBFX.png)
Sarasota saw a slight increase in wins going from 10-6 to 12-4. Sarasota had 10 games flipped resulting in 6 wins and 4 losses. The Sailfish would've moved up from the #3 seed to #1 in the NSFC.
Yellowknife Wraiths
Yellowknife had a good S27 after their S26 Ultimus win. They just missed out on the playoffs and the possibility of repeating as champs. The Wraiths wouldn't have to wait long though to hoist the Ultimus trophy going 11-5 and beating Austin in the championship.
Would the Wraiths have made another championship run in flipped games?
![[Image: aRjpOSk.png]](https://i.imgur.com/aRjpOSk.png)
The Wraiths would have seen a fairly significant decrease in their record going from 11-5 to 8-8 and missing out on the playoffs. Their would be no championship going back to the Great White North.
Playoffs
The playoff picture who have been altered slightly with 1 score games flipping results.
![[Image: jD5hVK6.png]](https://i.imgur.com/jD5hVK6.png)
Sarasota would've moved up from the #3 seed to the #1 seed. Berlin would've stayed in the playoffs but fall from #1 to #3. Whereas the champion Wraiths fell out of the playoffs and Chicago jumped in at the #2 seed.
Overall Look
![[Image: 8zf9kbq.png]](https://i.imgur.com/8zf9kbq.png)
Overall only one playoff team would have changed with Chicago getting in and Yellowknife missing out. Chicago saw the biggest increase with 4 more wins and Yellowknife saw the biggest fall with 3 more losses.
The NSFC didn't have as many teams with 1 score games but they still had 3 with double digit flips. Chicago (12) and Berlin/Sarasota (10)
Baltimore the lowest total flip with only 2 games changing.
Both Baltimore and Philadelphia saw their records stay exactly the same.
