A lot of things have changed in San Jose since the Season 2 draft. The team started off 3-1, and has fallen off the good graces to a record of 3-8. Seven losses in a row has hurt the team badly. A few players wanted out, and Ja Brill has graciously permitted their departure with trades to Yellowknife. Trading AC Hackett for Luke Chunk and a pick, and trading Bailey Cook for Darren Smallwood and picks as well. Darren Smallwood came into San Jose, guns blazing and has already made such a huge impact in the locker room and on the field. He is a great addition for San Jose, and has vowed to help turn this team around or die trying. The loss of Cook and Hackett hurts San Jose for the rest of season two, but gives them something to look forward to in the upcoming seasons. Another huge change that San Jose has just recently undergone, is the hiring of a New Co-GM to help Ja Brill. Lord Nibbler was hired to replace Ben Longshaw, who has gone inactive for a number of reasons. Before San Jose hired Lord Nibbler, everyone on the team was included in the interview process. Lord Nibbler from Vergon 6 was a being that the team really grew attached to through his interview. Throughout the interview, he brought some great out of this world views that will help bring San Jose to the Promised Land. He stated that these plans would take a year or two to come to fruition but to sit back and follow his plans. These were the exact words from Lord Nibbler himself. After the interview, Vincent Sharpei had to have some One on One time with Lord Nibbler, just to see for himself if this was going real.
Vincent Sharpei (VS): How do you plan to address players that under-preform during your Regime?
Lord Nibbler (LN): Addressing humans that are not performing as well as they could be is tricky. First thing I’d approach them to see what is happening. If they are putting in the work and not getting results, then I would analyze what we could do to make their workouts and training more effective. If they aren’t putting in the work then they won’t be on the Sabercats for very long.
VS: Interesting… What made you choose San Jose?
LN: This was actually pretty elaborate. In my first press release, I mentioned an oracle prophecying that San Jose must win for the fate of the universe. I basically spied on San Jose rookies and when Dan was contemplating adopting a dog, I put myself in the pound. I figured if the adoption didn't work, I'd just show up at his house or another player’s house. After that I just acted like a normal dog for a year and some change. Once the Sabercats started struggling, I knew I had to drop the charade. I then started speaking which freaked Dan out and showed off some of my alien technology. Then I went in to the GMs office and started talking strategy and was immediately hired.
VS: I remember that, a lot of us were in there for the interview process. How do you plan to address the controversy surrounding San Jose and its “curse”?
LN: It’s cool. I broke the curse with my alien dog magic.
VS: Oh man, the more you talk, the more I enjoy to listen. What do you plan to change, more off days? More Hookers?
LN: As far as plan to change, I think the big thing is having a strategy and executing it properly. I feel like we've had some strategy but the execution has fallen flat a few times. I'm going to ensure that both of these work perfectly. Absolutely no hookers, San Jose players don't have to pay to play
VS: I like you more already. You are someone I can see myself really getting behind and following into the future. Why did you choose Earth?
LN: I was assigned earth about 30 years ago. Basically my planet wants to have scouts on most planets that have life. I decided to head over to San Jose when the prophecy was foretold.
VS: I see I see, if you could play in one position to help San Jose where would that be?
LN: If I could play, I would probably play cornerback or wide receiver. I've spent plenty of time playing fetch while on this planet and this seems like the human equivalent.
VS: How can you expect change, and lead San Jose if you’re just what humans describe as a “Dog”?
LN: I look like a dog, but I'm much more. I have a much higher intelligence than the average human and feel as more of a warden of the universe. It's much easier to keep a watchful eye on earth if I blend in as man's best friend.
I can also fully comprehend and speak so I think leading would be easy. I might use some alien technology to speak with other players.
VS: Who is your favorite player on the team right now?
LN: As far as from a management perspective, It's hard to pick a favorite player. Every player that is out there putting in work is someone I would highly value.
From a personal perspective, Dan Miller obviously. He adopted me which gave me a way in to the Sabercats. He also feeds me all the ham I want and gives lots of belly rubs.
Vincent Sharpei walked out of that room with Lord Nibbler, with a complete different attitude towards him. Things are changing in San Jose, and it’s going to be for the better. A lot of people are going to continue to sleep on San Jose, but that is no problem, as a lot of the players have taken a new approach to the rest of the season, and the upcoming seasons. Vincent Sharpei has personally taken Lord Nibbler on as his Lord and Savior and will continue to preach the word of the Co-GM, and will possibly even turn this into the Nibbler Religion. Besides the hard work that team has put in since the trades, the locker room has become alive with conversation, conspiracy that has happened in the league, and planning for the future. In San Jose, everybody has a say with what is going on, and the GMs take us into consideration with plans of the future. San Jose and the Lord Nibbler Religion are going to take the league by storm, people should watch out! Fall in line, and join us, or be run over and through, and not looked back on.
