Hey Everyone! I'm excited to begin another session of my interview series. I have the legendary Dsfl defensive back, and my future team mate Vulf here again today. Welcome back my man! This is round two interview wise for us. I hope you all enjoy!
How have things been going your way!?
Vulf:
Things have been going well. Thanksgiving was a good time with the family despite the Cowboys completely ruining the day, and I had a good break away from work (i teach). On the field things are finally looking up for the Ducks a little bit and I've been picking off several teams not just the Coyotes. Everything is good in Modern Mordor! How are things going for you?
Beck-
Well that's great to hear. I had a pretty good Thanksgiving. I took the week off of work and my Chicago Bears were able to squeak by the Lions. Being a Bears fan is generally pretty miserable but I guess it could be worse lol.
I am not sure if you knew this but I actually was recently announced to be the next co gm of the Norfolk SeaWolves! You have been a ball hawk this season, we are going to need you to take it easy on us lol.
How would you compare your second season (so far) to that of your rookie season?
Vulf:
Congrats on the Norfolk job! Can't wait to kick your ass soon! Yeah this season personally has been a decent one. Its been nice to feel like I'm not getting picked on on the field as much. It may just be my eyes, but I feel like I'm not getting nearly as many throws to my side of the field as I did last year. When they do throw may way, I've gotten 4 picks (which has already matched my season/post-season total from last year) and had quite a few passes defended. Also being able to tackle this year is a huge plus, haha. A lot fewer big gains on my side of the field.
Unfortunately we've lost a lot of starters on both sides of the ball and that has shown in our weekly performance as a team. We had a great sim on Tuesday which has almost got us back to .500, but its really feeling like in the end this season will be just the first step on the rebuild to greatness. How is your season going so far in the ISFL? I'll admit I haven't been able to pay as much attention up there as I'd like to.
Beck-
On the isfl level things have been great! We are tied for the best record in the league this year. It is really crazy how things change from year to year. Going into last season I think we were projected to win like 6 or 7 games.then of coursw we kinda over achieved and won the Ultimus lol. We have added some great players this off season as free agent signings so really picked up where we left off and went all in on trying to repeat. We just lost last night but are still 9-3 on the season.
From a player stand point I have had a down year compared to my pro bowl year last year. But most of that is because how awesome our receivers are. We added Sam the Onion Man as one of our signings in free agency and he's a studddddd. I think he's scored in almost every game. I don't know much about other rosters but I definitely think we have the best receiver duo in the league.
You mention you have a feeling this may be a rebuilding year in dsfl for you. Do you think you guys may be able to squeak into the playoffs? Also this is random but did you see you have the best fantasy team in the league (as of this message)? That is so awesome lol. What are some fantasy tips you can give us lol
Vulf:
After last night's win against Kansas City (have I mentioned how much I love playing against Kansas City???), we are now firmly in the 2nd spot in our division. We went 3-0 this week, and if we can keep up this momentum I think we'll definitely be able to sneak in. Obviously once we get there, there are a 3 other REALLY good teams and so it will be a struggle, but just like last year.. to be able to get into the playoffs when you're supposed to be rebuilding is quite the statement. And most importantly, as Honolulu showed in the ISFL last year, once you get in anything can happen.
We currently have 4 games left, all against the South teams. And unless I'm mistaken, if we go 2-2 that should be enough to clinch the 2nd playoff spot as we hold the tie-breaker over the Coyotes. Obviously theres 2 really good teams over there but I think 2-2 is totally doable with the way we've been playing (plus that would mean that KC would have to win out).
As far as fantasy... I had no idea until like 2 days ago. I didn't even know how to use the bot to check my standings haha. I was just pumped to be in first in my group and then when I realized I was 1 overall I was totally shocked. I can't give any advice cause I just kindof picked who I thought my be on the come up rather than the comedown and asked for a lot of help in the Ducks LR. I haven't made a waiver move all season either haha. I don't know if I'll hold it for the whole season but it would be awesome if I could!
Beck-
Yeah I am anxious to see how the playoff race turns out in the DSFL. I think things are going to go down to the wire for sure. Kansas City just can not seem to beat you guys lol. I believe we just clinched playoffs in Norfolk with our win there. It is the first time I have ever been a part of a team in some capacity that clinched this early and let me tell you, it feels fantastic! On the ISFL side, we hopefully will clinch soon. That loss on Wednesday ended up being much more important than I realized at the time. We are tied for the best record in the ASFC but now are only one game up on Arizona, who beat us earlier in the season. We also happen to play them next so this game is going to be huge for standings. I am not sure how tie breakers work but I can not imagine that we would make the playoffs above them if they beat us twice and end with the same record as us. Time for a beer lol.
Going into the fantasy football draft this season, I finally thought I had a little better understanding of some of the players. I happened to get in the same fantasy group as Icebear and used my confidence to foolishly bet with him that whoever loses has to compliment the other on our player twitter for a week. I was ahead at that time after like one or two weeks, but he took the lead immediately after we agreed to the bet unforuntately. I think he some how hacked the system to make sure he got ahead of me. But yea you probably will not have to make any waivers lol. I looked at your team today and I am not sure that it is possible to have a better draft than what you did lol. DSFL wise and player wise, do you think you will be in contention for any league awards at seasons end?
Vulf:
Yeah Icebear was one of the ones to give me advice on a couple players when I asked so he's obviously got his finger on something good when it comes to knowing the league.
As far as DSFL awards go, I think I definitely have a shot at the pro-bowl again, but I don't really see any other awards besides that unless I really turn it on late. Currently Ravensknees of Bondi Beach (6 picks) and Delabaguette of Dallas (4 picks 3/2 FF/FR) are having a little bit better seasons than me at the moment, although I do think that having 2 defensive TDs might help out a little bit. And since I'm sure I'll never have another performance like week 10 against Kansas City of last year, I doubt I'll see a defensive performance of the year trophy again either haha. What about you? Do you think you'll be up for anything in the big leagues??
Beck:
I did not realize that you had 2 tds this year. That is actually really good! In isfl I only have 1 touch down for reference lol. I do not think that I will be up for any awards this season unfortunately :/. Last year I was up for tight end of the year but our receivers are so good this year and Kai is the goat running back so I have taken a big step back production wise. The good thing is I do not drop many passes so I I am always there when my team needs me though. I am getting really close to buying the Athlete trait. I have no idea how that will impact things but it makes me wonder if I will see an improvement possibly from that. I wanted to save up for receiving tight end trait but it's 150 tpe so not sure if that will ever happen lol. With there being bonus pay outs for media right now, do you have any plans for any other media or graphics? Interviews are always my go to lol.
Vulf:
I've been waiting to create and drop some retro isfl helmets like the ones i made for the DSFL teams when I first joined. I have some free time next week so maybe I'll be able to pump those out for big graphics payout. Other than that I don't have anything too top of mind. Really just hoping I'll get a big payout from finishing well in Fantasy this season haha. what about you? big plans for anything else before season's end?
Beck-
I'm excited to see those, I bet they will turn out great like before! I think our bonus ends Sunday and I have a few other interviews lined up that I am hoping to complete by then. I just finished one with one of my Norfolk Team mates last night.
Well thanks as always for your time. You are one of my very favorite users so it is always good catching up with you. I also can not wait to see you on the field in a Honolulu Jersey eyes. I am anxious to see how things play out for you this season. Is there anything else you would like to add today?
Vulf:
man i don't think so but good luck the rest of the ISFL season and bad luck in the DSFL season heman !! thanks for taking the time again, always good to talk to you!
Beck-
Same here. Thanks again for talking with me today. Also to any reader who made it this far, thank you also! I love doing this interview type question and answer sessions and hope to be able to continue to bring more and more to everyone. If you are ever interested in the future, please feel free to shoot me a message! Vulf I will end this the best way I can. And that is by saying. GO SEAWOLVES!
