[div align=\\\"center\\\"]San Jose Player Profile: D'Pez Poopsie[/div]
Today we look at one of San Jose's top players, their top corner back: D'Pez Poopsie. Poopsie is a S10 corner back who has family ties to the general manger of the San Jose Sabercats, one of the reasons that the Sabercats took him so high. On top of that, he's one of top players in his draft class. Let's take a closer look!
The Draft
The S10 draft was a great draft for the sabercats that saw them take 4 players in the first two rounds. Each of those 4 players are now monumental parts of the team's roster. Xandra Troyski who was taken 9th overall is part of their 1st string cornberback core. Joliet Chirst who was taken 4th overall is now the team's starting quarterback. Kazimir Oles was taken 2nd overall is now the team's top wide receiver. Finally D'Pez Poopsie who was taken 1st overall is the team's top corner back and one of the most talented players on the team. Only one player gets the distinction of being take #1 overall each season and Poopsie is looking like he was worth every bit of that pick. Currently the only player who has shown himself to be a more improved player is 2nd overall pick Kazimir Oles.
The Improvement
A lot of players come into the draft extremely strong and fast, but not every player is able to truly refine their game the way they need to in order to excell at their position. Poopsie came into the draft at 209 TPE after switching from a running back to a corner back. Nearly every bit of training that Poopsie did went into becoming a faster player. Since the draft he has kept his speed at the elite level it was at the draft, but he has been able to do what other players can't by improving the other parts of his game as well. He's been hitting the gym at the pace a professional player should be and is now strong enough both resistance and endurance wise to be a real threat NSFL level. He's been spending extra time after practice watching film on opposing teams and getting to know the way their offenses play, really showcasing how intelligent he is on the field. His ability to get his hands on the ball to deflect or intercept it is now at an elite level. Being a young player he could still use some work on his agility and endurance training, but at this point we're just splitting hairs. Poopsie is going to be star corner back in the league some day if he continues to improve at the rate he currently is.
His Fit on the Team
The current corner backs on the San Jose Sabercats are Benson Bayley, D'Pez Poopsie and Xandra Troyski. Although Troyski and Bayley are players built for a man to man system, Poopsie is a player that fits better into a zone defense. It's up to the defensive coordinator what sort of defense they will play, but based on the raw numbers it's obvious that Poopsie is the fastest and strongest corner on the team and the leader of the group. Expect him to get the toughest assignments every game and due to his versatility be forced to play a man to man system.
The Verdict
This man is a beast and will be one of the top corner backs in the league in a season or two.
