In a surprising turn of events, the 3-time champion duo who gained notoriety as GMs of the Tijuana Luchadores of the DSFL, will again reunite under the mantle of “General Manager” only one season removed from their previous tenure south of the border. The long-time GM of the Hawks, Iam Essellem, as announced earlier this season, will be stepping down from the grind of the position. However, before administrators around the league breathe a sigh of relief that they will no longer have to deal with the hard-nosed negotiator, they aren’t out of the woods yet. Essellem instead will be reassigned as the President of Player Operations for the Hawks with direct oversight in personnel and organizational strategy. Recent Co-GM Hugh Neecorn will also remain an integral part of the organization as the Head of Scouting where he will use his talents to maximize the value in every draft pick owned by the team.
Epictitus Milburn spent his year away focusing on the game of baseball. Long a dream of his, Milburn finally decided to pursue the opportunity to play professionally as a starting pitcher for the Pro Baseball Experience. Despite his age, Milburn put together a respectable rookie season for the Amarillo Armadillos and was recently called up to play for his Major League team, the Utah Railroaders. He plans to balance this as well as he can with his new responsibilities, reassuring those in the city of Baltimore of the first fruits of his time and attention.
Icy Douglas most recently was the Head Coach of the San Jose Sabercats, while also playing minor league baseball with the Milwaukee Swans during the offseason. Coming off of a tough conference championship loss, Icy Douglas needed to take some time to regroup. His strategies had been celebrated all year, but they just couldn’t get the team to the championship title game.

When asked about his decision, Icy said: “Epictitus and I knew we would GM in the big leagues at some point after our days in Tijuana, but didn’t think it would come so soon. The opportunity came up, and Epictitus and I are glad to take it.”

Milburn in an interview after the announcement
Ever confident, Milburn had quite a bit to say about what the bureaucratic shuffle would mean for his legacy and city of Baltimore: “Icy and I set out to prove ourselves as the best GMs the NSFL has ever seen. I like to think that set ourselves up on the right foot in our time with the Luchadores, bringing a winning culture to the city of Tijuana, a culture which, as we’ve seen this season in the DSFL, is not going away any time soon. But we find ourselves in a much different position with the Baltimore Hawks. We have the opportunity to learn from one of the top two most competent of GMs in the league in Iam Esselem. I’ve already spoken with him quite a bit, and make no mistake---the Baltimore Hawks are far more talented than our 4-10 record last season would seem to indicate. We will be bringing in significant blue chip talent as early as this season and I expect us to be a top contender for the title every season that Icy and I are in charge. That’s a promise. I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of this league belonging to the Otters. By the time we are done, the Baltimore Hawks will be recognized as the unquestioned premier talent in the National Simulation Football League.”
Stay tuned as the pair looks to prove they can not just win in the DSFL, but in the big leagues as well.
