Today we were able to meet up with star DSFL tight end, Chase Jensen, and talked to him about his first full season as a pro and the upcoming NSFL draft. This is what he had to say about his first season as a member of the Palm Beach Solar Bears.
“You know, I think that we have a lot to be proud of in Palm Beach. The season didn’t go the way that we had hoped, but the team stuck together and didn’t lose hope. We would have loved to make the playoffs and fight for a chance to bring a championship back to Florida, but things just didn’t quite click together. All of that being said, I think that we still have a great group of guys and it sucks knowing that we are all going to be split up after the NSFL draft. Knowing the effort that these guys put into training and their own body of work, they are going to be a nightmare for a lot of opposing teams. I mean, seriously, look at our defensive depth. We have too many stud defenders to be honest. Any team in the NSFL that drafts these guys are going to get diamonds… not even diamonds in the rough, these guys are straight up studs and general managers should be licking their chops at the opportunity to bring them into their organizations.”
When asked about his own draft stock, this was Jensen’s response.
“I think that I had a really nice season to be honest. I’m currently leading the league in receiving yards for a tight end. I’m more often that not split out, but when I have been on the line I haven’t allowed a single sack over the course of the season which is something that I am proud of. Being a tight end in this league isn’t about fulfilling one single role. I think we are so versatile in what we are able to do, yet we are underutilized. I don’t know, man. I think with the amount of training and effort I have put into this season that I will be a fairly early draft pick, but there are a lot of excellent players coming out of this draft so we will just have to wait and see what happens going forward. I haven’t really heard from a lot of general managers yet, but I am totally interested in hitting up some interviews before the combine. Honestly, feel free to hit me up whenever because I’m almost always available as long as I’m not in practice or anything like that.”
This is what Jensen had to say about what teams he is personally interested in joining and what he feels his role could be on that team.
“Honestly? I just want to be a part of an organization that views me as an asset. I’m not asking for a huge payday, I’m not asking to be put into a situation in where I’m putting up monster yards, I just want to be utilized to the best of my ability in a role that helps the team. I’m super flexible in what I can do and am always looking for advice from my coaches and managers in how I can make myself a better tight end in this league. I honestly don’t mind being mostly a blocker, I honestly don’t mind being mostly a receiver. I just want to come in and do my damn job the best that I can. In terms of teams that could potentially draft me? I don’t know, to me it really seems like a crap shoot. It seems like most teams in the league sans Baltimore could use a tight end of the future. There are several talented tight ends coming out of this draft so everyone should end up with someone that they are excited about, but I am letting it be known now that I will be the best there is. You want me to play more of a receiving role? I am going to be the best damn receiving tight end that you have ever seen. You want me to play on the line? I am going to pancake defenders for days. There is nothing anyone can do from stopping the Chase Jensen hype train because we are going full speed.”
Finally, this is what Jensen had to say when asked about his offseason plans.
“There ain’t no rest for the wicked. My training isn’t going to stop, my focus on my goals isn’t going to stop. Some might say, hey man you are going to burn yourself out if you never take breaks. Other people taking breaks is just one factor in how I get ahead. Let people take breaks I say, I’ll just be over here training and honing my skills as a professional football player in this league. Honestly, nothing is changing for me, just because the Solar Bears are out of the running doesn’t mean that my attitude or motivation is changing. If anything, this just makes me want to be better so I can focus on winning games at the next level. Like I said before, I want to be the best there is and nothing is going to stop me.”
So there you have it folks. It sure sounds like Jensen is still very much so locked in on this season and the future and he hasn’t been derailed by a less than stellar season from his team. As he said, he is open to interviews from NSFL general managers, but he also understands that a lot of these general managers are still focused on their seasons and making the playoffs themselves. Jensen let us know that he can be reached via his manager, but is almost always available for interviews. He looks forward to showing his worth at the combine and through the remainder of this season. Lastly, he did tell us that the Solar Bears still plan on trying to win the last 2 games of the season and finish on a high note. Here is the contact info for Jensen’s manager.
