* 1.5x media - Trade Deadline Article*
Trade:
ARI receives
Beau Montgomery – aka Dangles13 -586 TPE Corner S11/12 – Last time updated: April -media/Aug TPE activity
Montgomery will fill in the nickel back or opposite corner from Lucas Knight in pass heavy schemes and most likely free safety in run heavy schemes depending on who they are playing against each week. A 380 TPE gain in the secondary is a pretty big boost when playing against the pass heavy Otters or Wraiths. This completes the defensive side of the ball as they have a high TPE earner anchoring each position with value depth pieces filling out the position
COL receives
Martavius Mack 200 TPE Safety – May Media – june/aug activity check
ARI S18 3rd Round Pick
ARI S18 5th Round Pick*
ARI S18 69th Round Pick**
As the Yeti are 4-7 their chances of making a run in the playoffs this year is slim to none. By moving Montgomery for picks and Mack I bet they’re hoping that one of the darts hits in a deep class. There are as many as fifty actives in season 18 so the Yeti could get a a pair of max earners with this trade. This would make the Yeti more competitive in the near future as they have a solid base of S15 players with a couple top S16 earners. The icing on the cake is if Mack becomes active again as the summer is a busy time for people and their families so I would not of put it past the smart Yeti GM’s if they already aren’t in contact with him.
Trade:
Phi Liberty Receives:
Hawks S18 4th
Hawks S18 6th
The Liberty are in the same boat as the Yeti being 4-7 and chances of making a run in the playoffs as close to none. Philadelphia has a roster of a few older heavy hitters and a decent core of season 15 players. This make up is not quite peaking at the right time. This trade gives them multiple shots in the season 18 draft class. The sixth rounder could end up being a modest TPE earner or sleeper pick, something that is not usually possible. If the liberty hit on these late round picks
Baltimore Hawks receive:
Vander Jones RB S13
The rich keep getting richer. At the cost of not being in the first two rounds of this years draft the hawks are all in for the Ultimus. You can not find a hole in this offense. It boasts a double dragon at running back where Vander should pick up the Touchdowns that Dorfus has been lacking in. A Patriot esq wide receiving corps with two stud options of Maddox and Sunnycrused and an impressive third option in Espeeyeeseetee which should feast on the third defensive back assignment that is assigned to him. You can’t forget about Verso which defenses will be reminded every time he strikes when the defense over compensates for the improved run game or elite passing game.
Trade:
YKW Receives
Luke Smyles - DE S12 450 TPE – May last activity – Will start opposite Alexander.
1M in S18 cap space only if they do not make the s17 ultimus game
Bag of hot and spicy chex mex
The Wraiths have a high powered offense and looked to upgrade their bend but don’t break defense. The secondary is the stalwart of the defense and in order to slow down opposing quarterback and running backs they needed to get Nero and Leaf some help. It would of cost too much to get another defensive tackle. To give up a third round pick and open up cap space for next year to sign a free agent will help smooth the pain of not getting to the ultimus this year which should help their window of competing that they created..
PHI Liberty receive:
Chad Maololo – S16 DE 247 TPE – IA July
S18 WKY 3rd Round pick
Again Philadelphia are taking a couple kicks at the can to see what shakes out. They swapped a soon to be regressing defensive end for a younger start if only have to player. Chad was last seen in July so maybe like others they have traded for, they come back after the busy summer months. To sound like a broken record, a third round pick this year could be very valuable. An active player that could be a max earner is possible even if it is later in the third round like the wraiths should finish.
Trade:
Baltimore receives:
Sunnycursed
S18 3 rd Round pick
Baltimore beefing up their chances of a trip to the Ultimus. Will the SIM luck be on their side? Because the offense looks unstoppable. Not much else needs to be said that hasn’t already with this addition.
Otters receive: Yulic Nagasawa Wide Receiver – Season 11 – 500 TPE – Last active April
Corey Trevor 190 TPE – Season 13 – Last updated April
S18 1st round pick -
If trevor is on the otter’s roster after S18, Hawks receive 2M in S18 Cap space.
The otters probably won’t have Corey Trevor on the team after this year so they will save that 2M in cap space. With an extra first and second round pick and only missing a third for next year, they should easily replace the 190 TPE running back. After switching Gus T.T. Showbiz to corner to help fill a hole and brining in the up and coming Franklin to start at QB I don’ think the otters are where they’d like to be. So they are sacrificing their chances this year for the Ultiminus to reload with some younger talent and maybe bring back SunnyCursed next year after his one year deal expires. Showbiz probably likes and hates this move by the otters as he switched positions to help the team win and now there is a less chance of that happening. As well showbiz is one year later in retiring and could feel he wasted a year by changing directions. On the plus side he would keep his stats up as by not having the weapons he should have by keeping sunnycursed. Only he and the otters know of the conversation that went on at the start of the year.
Teams that did not make any trades:
Chicago and
San Jose. These two are either are in the win now window or it is closing shortly. By doing nothing you aren’t helping the team direction. They didn’t make any moves to hamper their future further but did not help their chances for these playoffs in a close race for home field advantage.
Austin and
New Orleans. Teams that are on the up and up. With both teams with a collection of young talent and not many declining assets to moved staying put was a smart move. Gaining additional draft assets would have been ideal. But no sense disturbing a good thing being built to get greedy.
