It has been a long, trying season. It has had its ups, it has had its downs. Ultimately things simply did not bounce the right way for New Orleans. What started off as a promising season resulted in an early vacation. Had luck just smiled on them once along the way, it is likely that this team is playoff bound. Losing games they should have won, getting blown out in games that should have been close. Sometimes the fates decide to swirl together and decide that someone just doesn’t get to have nice things. This season, that someone was the Second Line.
There was a lot of drama and a lot of hard choices to be made along the way. Players coming, players going, and lost friends as the season moved on. Sometimes you can only move on and look to the future and see the bright side of things. Lucky for New Orleans, they have an incredibly bright future to look at. They still house one of the youngest rosters in the league and they have three first round picks in this S19 draft. They’ll continue to build their group of young players and they can only get better from here. They’ll continue to develop, advance, and push forward as a unit.
But because you often can only look to the future in times of disappointment and negativity, Bjørn Ironside has decided to look at his exercising options. He’s always prided himself as being one of the strongest men in the world, but he insists he still must improve to help his team. When he started looking at his options of exercising, it seemed like the options were endless. Countless number of supposed experts came out of the woodwork to tell him how to improve. At the end of the day, Bjørn decided that the best way to improve will be to just do things his own way. After all, he knows what he is capable of and how far he’s willing to push. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Determined to push forward and get better so he can help bring New Orleans a championship in the near future, he has decided that it is time to step his training up to the next level. After their loss against the Butchers, Bjørn left a letter in the locker room. He has headed to Mount Everest with his three best friends, the bear cubs he grew up with known as Buttercup, Bernhardt, and Geoffrey. He plans to spend the entire season there training and preparing for S19. He has left an open invite for any players on his team to join him and left them GPS coordinates to his campsite. If they can make the climb, he figures they won’t slow down his progress!
He plans to come back down before week one of the season in the best shape of his life. He’ll be trudging through the snow and the thin air while doing all of his normal training routines. If you can survive training in one of the harshest environments the world has to offer, you can survive on any football field the world has to offer. As it is always said, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. And Bjørn is determined to be stronger for the future of New Orleans.
There was a small note at the bottom of his invitation though.
P.S. If you make the climb, bring tacos. Love, Bjørn.
