It’s hard to believe where I am now as a player, a GM of a franchise, and soon part of the 1000 TPE club, but I want to look back on my journey, from my very first step in the league. Day 1, March 4th, the year of our lord 2019. A new start, the day ValorX77 became a member of the National Simulation Football League, and gave birth to a legend in the making, Ryan Leaf Jr, a future stud.
Originally he was a quarterback, mimicking his father, Ryan Leaf, arguably the biggest draft bust in NFL history, it was a great start for leaf, when he got his first meme line "I’m something of a running back myself", when he ran 87 yards for a touchdown in the prospect bowl for a team called the pacific owls, a team filled up with prospects for an upcoming super draft in the DSFL, which would be the largest entry draft in league history. In that draft, I was selected sixteenth overall by the Kansas City Coyotes, I was the back up to Rose Jenkins, aka Jiggly who is a unique personality in the league, responding to you with the largest GIF library you’ve ever seen, heck he even discovered the weeb in me! However, beef between me and him ensured, resulting in me being traded by request to Norfolk where i switched to DT, and my number switched from 16 to 92. However, because of my ego then, I was not drafted until the 6th round, 54th overall, by the fine folks in Yellowknife by two cool dudes in Daybe and BigRed1580, Around this time I switched my number again to 40, but I couldn’t wear the number in Yellowknife because it was retired by the team to honor the legendary Dermot Lavelle. My teammate shadyshoelace once told me how to get set in the league, how to claim TPE, write articles, etc, I viewed him as a father figure at that time, because of how helpful he was. It was around this time where I became friends with BR, he’s a very like able guy, despite his creepy Scott pilgrim profile picture that stares into your soul. Many seasons went by and so did a few playoff failures because of bad sim luck, sometimes you can’t get it done because of adversity, but get up and keep on fighting because you’ll make it. Another day came after losing an Ultimus by a single score that I requested a trade, this time I wanted to start my tenure as a gm of a team to help create a championship team built by my own power, so I began in Norfolk but that didn’t last very long because of contraction, and BR was a great mentor to learn the ways of the sim itself. Despite adversity with the GM’s in Chicago, I finally Rose to the top, but then shot myself in the foot when I accidentally tampered with a player under contract on another team, resulting in a cap fine and gm pay reduction. I’ve looked back at what I’ve done throughout my journey, the many faces I met, the places I’ve gone, the games I played and coached it means everything to me, it’s like having a second family, I truly enjoyed every minute of my sim league career.
To all you future draftees entering the DSFL this year, I’ve got a message for you, Always take every opportunity in this league, you’ll never regret every moment, you’ll feel like me, on top of the world when you stride to be your very best, even under adversity and yes, irl problems, Don’t give up hope, there’s always a way in life.
Thanks for everything, signed, ValorX77
