Hello everyone! This is going to be a film breakdown of upcoming S21 NSFL draft prospect Otis Allen. Otis Allen is currently a rookie defensive tackle playing for the Portland Pythons. The game in particular that we are going to analyze Allen's performance is a game between the Minnesota Grey Ducks and the Portland Pythons. Through this film breakdown I hope to give draft scouts better insight into the style of play that Allen could bring to an NSFL team.
Pass Rushing
The easiest skill set to showcase of Otis Allen is his pass rushing ability. Even at 310 pounds, Allen has such an explosive level of play off that ball that is unmatched in this current draft class. Allen has a mean spin move, and is able to evade multiple defenders on his way to the quarterback. Allen showcases this evasive talents in the play below, and the extra blocker at running back doesn't stand a chance to stop the elusive defensive tackle.

Even when Allen doesn't quite make it to the quarterback, his presence on the defensive line causes quarterbacks to release the ball earlier than they would like. Allen is able to cut between double teams to create pressure on the quarterback, leading to an interrupted cadence and rattling the opposing teams offense.

Run Stuffing
While Allen is best known for his proficiency in the pass rushing game, he is equally as good as a run stuffer. Allen's awareness at the line to read a play and get to the runner is unmatched, and his agility makes him a constant threat to take down an offensive back.

Another example of Allen's run stuffing ability. This play perfectly showcases high level of aptitude as well. The runner attempts to cut back in order to find what he believes to be an open hole, but Allen has the intelligence to stay home and stop the runner in his tracks.

This play provides a great visual example of Allen's readiness in his play. Otis always plays until the whistle blows, and has the high endurance to maintain an elite level of performance throughout the game. Even when he is not directly involved in a play, he is always nearby the offensive threat in case the player makes a broken tackle or evades one of his teammates.

Speed
The last facet of Allen's game that I would like to showcase is his speed. Although Allen is 310 lbs, you'd think he was a linebacker on the field. Backs who think they've been able to make it into the open field for a long gain are quick to re-think that, as they are soon chased down by the Tank on the defensive line.

This play is a great example of the last two attributes of Allen's game that I've described. Not only is he able to re-insert himself into a play that most would think he'd be completely uninvolved in, but he also is able to finalize the play by taking an elusive running back down that had managed to avoid being tackled by Allen's teammates.

These clips are only a few of many different clips that showcase the diverse range of skills that Otis Allen has a draft prospect for the S21 NSFL draft. I'm hoping that I'll be able to analyze more film of his in the future in order to provide an even deeper insight into the style of play that he has displayed in the DSFL up to this point. But for now, one this is for sure: Allen is an elite talent at defensive tackle, and is already showing great promise as the future leader of a defense and as a superstar in the NSFL.
