To help supplement a historical S22 draft, Tight End prospect Daniel George presents "Reports from the Farm: S22" which will feature in-depth reports on notable prospects. Today we will be covering some notable prospects for the Quarterback position. If you have any thoughts, comments, or suggestions please hit reply or send a direct message. Please make sure to stay posted for more Podcast Transcripts from my show, "Memoirs from the Farm". Please note the opinions expressed in this report are those of Daniel George and do not reflect the true nature, character, or intentions of a player included in the following report. If there are any blatant inaccuracies please send me a direct message and I will resolve any discrepancies as soon as possible.
Current Quarterback draft count: 12 (4 Recreates)
Quarterback is a vital position for any franchise either in the NSFL or the DSFL. You simply cannot win games, earn new fans, or develop a team properly without true leadership on and off the field. In a large S22 class, there are a plethora of options for General Managers to pick franchise cornerstone players to help succeed in the expanded and more competitive DSFL. Careful attention should be made to the quarterback position in this draft class due to a large number of recreates, and for there to be a potential shortage of elite talent in a few seasons. General Managers should not be hesitant to choose a quarterback in the early rounds. With depth at defensive positions, securing a good, young quarterback early will pay dividends immediately for the expansion teams, and in 2-3 seasons for more solidified rosters such as the Minnesota Grey Ducks. As noted in my other positional reports, there is a certain shortage of certain types of player archetypes. In the case of quarterbacks, this happens to be mobile quarterbacks or any quarterbacks possessing true speed and agility. If a General Manager intends to build around a mobile quarterback, the additional value should be given to Speed attributes. This may help certain prospects stand out over a small but strong quarterback class.
Monterey Jack - Raging Cajuns
Height (ft.): 6'5"
Weight (lbs.): 215 lbs
Birthplace: Bojangles Parking Lot
Player Archetype: Gunslinger
Arm: 75
Throwing Accuracy: 72
Intelligence: 71
---
Endurance: 50
Agility: 45
Speed: 40
Hushed whisperings of a certain Quarterback declaring at the age of 21 were being made early on as this draft class became apparent. Much to the chagrin of other rookie quarterbacks, Jack has made it very apparent he should be the top QB picked in this year's draft. His coach inside the Ragin Cajun's QB War-room said, "He's got the best arm I've ever seen coming out of college. He could have played in the DSFL as soon as last year. He stuck around to help us win when he could have gone pro here or even overseas. The world is his oyster." With a tall frame, excellent arm, and above-average intelligence, Jack would be best served on one of the new DSFL expansion teams to build around. A top-ranked receiver or tight end would make a good pairing if the DSFL team already has defensive depth.
Ben Slothlisberger - Central Michigan
Height (ft.): 6'7"
Weight (lbs.): 260lbs
Birthplace: Unknown
Player Archetype: Gunslinger
Arm: 71
Intelligence: 70
Throwing Accuracy: 70
---
Endurance: 52
Speed: 50
Agility: 45
With his elite size and all-around athletic ability, many pundits and coaches told Slothlisberger to not play at the quarterback position and to play defense instead. His High School coach was quoted as saying, "He could have been an all-time leader in tackles both here and at the college level. Instead, he demands to play quarterback. Unbelievable." While much is still unknown about this player, he comes with a reputation from Central Michigan as a locker-room legend, immediate on-field presence, and all-around good guy. While there have been questions regarding his accuracy, particularly in game-play situations requiring fast reaction times, General Managers should rest assured Slothlisberger will continue to work towards balancing out his game as he has displayed at Central Michigan. He will be guaranteed to be hard to take down and behind a good offensive line, Slothlisberger would emerge as a true franchise quarterback. Slothlisberger has been quiet on Social Media. One fan defended him on Twitter by saying, "Sloth is God, he don't need to post, he's everywhere and nowhere at once #SlothGang"
Sim Snowbow - University of Florida
Height (ft.): 6'5"
Weight (lbs.): 255 lbs
Birthplace: Florida
Player Archetype: Pocket Passer
Arm: 72
Throwing Accuracy: 72
Intelligence: 71
---
Endurance: 50
Speed: 40
Agility: 40
General Managers may be fearful to draft this player due to a recent, yet unconfirmed, video of a back-yard brawl occurring near the University of Florida campus in near-by Gainesville, Florida. In the video, a hooded-figure who appears to be very similar to Snowbow is squaring off with a similarly built opponent. They trade jabs and crosses before closing in towards the corner of a make-shift back-yard wrestling style ring. Within moments, Snowbow has him in the Thai-clinch and his feeding subsequent knees to the liver without letting go of his grip. The figure lifts a free hand to tap of Snowbow's shoulder before falling to the ground. Since getting over 1 Million views on YouTube, Snowbow was quiet on Social Media before posting again recently. Coaching staff mention that Snowbow has a strong grasp of Social Media, often assisting his team-mates in navigating the complicated world of Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms. When pressed about his off-field activity, the University of Florida coaching staff were quick to defend Snowbow, "First off that wasn't him in that video. Second off if it was him why wouldn't you want to draft a guy like that, see those hands?" On the field, Snowbow leaves no question marks as he is one of the best built, most well-balanced, and hard-working prospects in this class. A General Manager would be well served to give Snowbow the fatherly figure and mentorship that is potentially missing from his personal life. Snowbow is known to develop strong bonds with team-mates and may contribute to locker-room cohesion, especially with strong defensive leadership.
Swift Willy - Marshall
Height (ft.): 6'3''
Weight (lbs.): 220 lbs
Birthplace: Trenton, NJ
Player Archetype: Mobile
Arm: 70
Throwing Accuracy: 70
Speed: 70
---
Intelligence: 60
Agility: 55
Endurance: 40
It is well known among the Marshall staff and community around Huntington, West Virginia that Swift Willy can clash with media, team-mates, coaching staff, and even fans. Despite that, his team-mates at Marshall have also advocated for his leadership on the field, athlete prowess, and his sense of positivity and calm found in his Senior season. Despite his off-field controversies, Willy offers a well-balanced set of skills and attributes to build a unique offense around. He is by far the fastest quarterback in the draft, which is appropriate considering his name. Willy also has above average strength and agility for the position. One negative regarding Willy maybe his on-field decision making, as he is known to force passes into double coverage. With further development of his arm and play-making abilities with his legs, Willy could develop into a Lamar Jackson-type player and leader as soon as his second season. He might be the best mobile quarterback in the draft.
HaHa Mango-Panda - Notre Dame
Height (ft.): 6'2"
Weight (lbs.): 225lbs
Birthplace: Chicago, IL
Player Archetype: Gunslinger
Arm: 76
Intelligence: 69
Throwing Accuracy: 65
---
Endurance: 50
Agility: 45
Strength: 42
Nicknamed, "the Furious Panda" for good reasons, Mango-Panda was well known for an assortment of on-campus issues during his time at Notre Dame. Mango-Panda is alleged to have broken several computers, laptops, keyboards, and other school property during a break and enter school facilities. With the footage remaining inconclusive, Mango-Panda was free to resume football activities. While coaches appreciate his work ethic and attention to detail, some expressed concern with media privately regarding his training. One Wide Receiver coach said, "You'll see him throwing balls well after practice. Not anywhere in particular, just chucking balls randomly out of the stadium. You seem him in the weight room and he runs track with the boys, but he just refuses to watch any film instead of staying up late chucking balls into the parking lot." This is reflected in Mango-Panda's on-field performance as he's known for the deep ball, especially in clutch situations. These clutch situations are often the result of turnovers and mistakes on offense which have lowered Mango-Panda's stock. A General Manager with good patience and guidance would be wise to take a chance on the Furious Panda.
Colin Vance - Cleveland State
Height (ft.): 6'1"
Weight (lbs.): 195
Birthplace: Cleveland, OH
Player Archetype: Gunslinger
Arm: 75
Throwing Accuracy: 70
Intelligence: 65
---
Endurance: 50
Speed: 45
Agility: 45
One unheralded prospect comes from the blue-collar working town of Cleveland, Ohio. A stand-out at Cleveland State, Vance is noted to have won several quarterback battles in the locker room despite his smaller frame. He is hard working at times though there are reports he may lack attention to detail and can be shy with media. Vance has a strong arm and may excel with good receiving options. There are concerns regarding his physicality as he is known to be easy to tackle and may throw errant passes under pressure. It remains to be seen whether Vance can emerge from his shell pre-draft as he will have to work extra hard to attract attention in the competitive quarterback pool. With his smaller size, Vance would benefit from additional time on the bench to build more Speed and Strength. One Scout contemplates, "There's a reason why Ohio State wouldn't touch this kid. He's very lazy. He gets by on raw talent and that's it. Future bench warmer if he can even be bothered for that." Time will tell whether or not Vance can prove his detractors wrong.
Luke Skywalker - the University of Michigan and Lehigh University
Height (ft.): 6' 4"
Weight (lbs.): 200 lbs
Birthplace: Philadelphia, PA
Player Archetype: Pocket Passer
Throwing Accuracy: 70
Intelligence: 65
Arm: 65
---
Agility: 55
Strength: 51
Speed: 51
"The Force is not strong with this one," confides a Michigan quarterback coach, "But the work ethic and determination are certainly there." This is part of the praise and other positive notes for Skywalker, a new prospect from the City of Brotherly Love. With accurate passing, Skywalker was able to take command of the Michigan offense which relied heavily on screen passes to running backs. Perhaps due to the short routes and lack of deep passing plays, Skywalker still does not possess the accuracy needed to excel in the DSFL. One strength and conditioning coach said, "We love that he shows up in the weight room or stays late to help the Receivers improve their hands. It just leads to the question of shouldn't he be in the quarterback room instead?" This may be due to Skywalker's outspoken dedication to his teammates. Despite this, Skywalker remains willing and dedicated to putting in the work needed to bring his game to the next level. Sometimes labeled as an Introvert, Skywalker has been known to lead group stretching sessions on-campus with other students who chose to wear robes and other fashion similar to their quarterback. Despite this popularity, Skywalker is not known for his Social Media use.
Evan Riley - Arizona State University
Height (ft.): 6'0"
Weight (lbs.): 225lbs
Birthplace: Cleveland, Ohio
Player Archetype: Game Manager
Intelligence: 75
Throwing Accuracy: 65
Arm: 58
---
Speed: 52
Strength: 50
Endurance: 50
Evan Riley was one of the most highly touted high school quarterback prospects to ever emerge from the great state of Ohio. With great grades, he earned a full scholarship to Arizona State University. In college, he maintained good grades and had a great reputation on campus. In the locker-room, there have been suggestions Riley is self-ish and not team-oriented. "He only cares about himself," one scout reported. "He's been known to rely on his brains and brawn too often. He rarely builds up his team-mates, and seems to think college is a continuation of high school." Despite this harsh criticism, Riley does posses the game management skills needed to slowly develop into a true number one quarterback. Another scout familiar with Pac-12 teams stated, "he'll never be a number one quarterback in the NFSL. He is just too far behind the competition right now. He'll serve as a bench player and maybe serviceable if absolutely needed." Riley has time before the draft to prove this wrong but so far has been silent on Social Media.
Dude Doggo - Clemson
Height (ft.): 6'4"
Weight (lbs.): 220lbs
Birthplace: Baltimore, Maryland
Player Archetype: Pocket Passer
Throwing Accuracy: 74
Arm: 70
Intelligence: 70
---
Endurance: 50
Agility: 45
Speed: 40
Dude Doggo comes from Clemson with a solid build that contributes to his early potential and success at the college level. Despite having some of the most accurate passing in the class, internal reports from the team which came out on WikiLeaks should add caution to General Manager's draft reports. In one disciplinary letter, Doggo was cited as having missed team meetings, refusal of basic tasks, showing up late for practice, and not mentoring new team-mates. When confronted about this fact by the campus newspaper, Doggo allegedly walked away from journalists yelling, "Fake news!" When pressed about his potential, one coach admits, "Doggo came in with one of the best pedigrees I've ever seen. I thought he might be Best-of-Show so to say. Instead, we got a bit of a mutt who likely won't do well past college." As it stands, Doggo does not have top quarterback potential and may have to settle as a second or even third-string player.
In closing the expansion teams, the Dallas Birddogs and the London Royals, are very lucky to be expanding this year. If given the chance, both teams should draft a quarterback as soon as possible and draft around their strengths or weaknesses accordingly. If the expansion teams do not pull the trigger on a top 5 quarterback, they may end up out of the race compared to other DSFL teams who are still in the midst of their own rebuilds, such as the Norfolk Seawolves. This quarterback class may be one to remember as it has the possibility to produce several top quarterbacks for any team to develop. Rookie quarterbacks need to be patient and be reminded they need to work harder than any other position in order to see any playing time whatsoever. They happened to be in a class with many recreates who have already set themselves above and beyond within this class. General Managers need to foster long-term development in these players if their goal is not to win a title immediately. There is a chance the S23 class does not have as much quarterback talent. A prudent General Manager should add additional worth to the quarterback position in this draft. This is especially true with both expansion teams looking for staters, however, missing their initial picks due to General Manager players. If need be, a General Manager should be prepared to scout rookies outside of this group of quarterbacks for possible position changes. With quarterback being such a valuable and essential position, the players with the greatest dedication, leadership qualities, and will to win need to be put into a position to succeed. If a General Manager waits too long to draft or is impatient in mentoring their franchise quarterback, it could have devastating consequences to the future integrity and success of their franchise.
Thanks for your consideration and attention. Runningbacks are next! It's been awesome seeing all the new media leading up to the draft! S22 looks to be an epic-class!
