Alright, this is a project I’ve had on the back burner for a while now, but I feel like it’s finally time to actually put pen to paper and write out the damn thing. For those of you unaware, Yellowknife does have a Hall of Fame. But me and murtsi felt like it could be a bit more interesting, at least in terms of its theme. Yellowknife did recently move to The Frostlands, but just calling it the Yellowknife Hall of Fame didn’t quite sit right with me. We needed something with a bit more pizazz, kind of like how Baltimore calls their Hall of Fame (or whatever they consider it as) the Wing of Honor.
So, we debated for a long time on what we should call it. Sovngarde was initially considered, but I felt that it was so overused that it would be forgotten. Taking into consideration other ideas, I dove into Greek mythology and found some suitable candidates. Isles of the Blessed was one we considered, but felt it was a bit on the nose and overdramatic for a football league. So the other option, which I felt fit much better for us, was on theme and had a badass name to boot was Elysium.
Elysium has been described by many authors in classical Greek literature, but the general throughline is that Elysium is for the righteous, the heroes, the blessed, those who were virtuous in life and deserve a life of luxury in death. Obviously, no one is actually dying here, but I still feel like the concept fit. The old tenants of the Wraiths Hall of Fame still apply to Elysium, and those who were already inducted shall be moved over to these new hallowed halls.
-Demonstrating exemplary leadership in the locker room.
-Demonstrating a clear commitment to improving oneself's craft through updating.
-Putting all these skills to use on the playing field, contributing greatly to the success of the franchise on the field
Currently, Elysium holds 3 players that met this standard. Dermot Lavelle, Mat Akselsen and Eric Kennedy. Those articles will be linked below for anyone wishing to read up on those 3. With us rebranding our Hall of Fame, we had to have some new members to add. There was a lot of debate on who we should be adding, but ultimately we narrowed it down to one player.

[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Cameron Taylor, welcome to Elysium.[/div]
An old stalwart of the Wraiths, Taylor was drafted all the way back in Season 5 after a successful Ultimini run with the Portland Pythons. He locked down the Safety position in Yellowknife for 9 seasons and contributed to Yellowknife’s lone Ultimus victory all the way back in Season 8. He also secured a spot in several pro bowls and tied for the Most Improved Player award during one of his seasons as a Wraith. (I could not find it thanks to jcink’s wonderful search function, so sorry CDub.) For all of the debate we had on who belonged in Elysium, Taylor was one of the few constants and the only player we felt that met the criteria laid out earlier in this Article. So, @CDub2, congratulations to you!
