This is the NSFL Top 50 for S22 as voted by the players. The votes have been tallied and assigned points in the following manner, if someone was voted as the 1st player they received 30 points, 2nd 29 points, 3rd 28 points, so on and so forth until 30th 1point. Without further adieu, here are players 10 to 1:
- 10. Nacho Varga - WR -
- @Fordhammer
S21 Stats: 50 receptions, 995 yards, 7 TDs; 64 returns, 1206 yards
Varga was the top pass catcher for the Liberty in S21. Like many receivers on this list, he was also outperformed statistically by Errol Maddox (#12). He was the main return man for the Liberty as well, which garnered some additional favor with the voters. Varga did make the S21 Pro Bowl as the Flex player for the NSFC.
- 9. Cooter Bigsby - QB -
- @timeconsumer
S21 Stats: 277comp/477att, 3696 yards, 20 TDs, 7 INTs; 25 carries, 67 yards, 2 TDs
Bigsby led the league in passing yards despite being 4th in passes attempted. Bigsby also finished 3rd in QB rating with a 90.6. Bigsby was one of the league’s most efficient passers in S21 and earned a S21 Pro Bowl appearance.
- 8. Mako Mendonca - RB -
- @Mooty99
S21 Stats: 311 carries, 1244 yards, 6 TDs; 44 catches, 292 yards, 2 TDs
Mendonca finished second in the league in rushing yards. He also finished top 10 in rushing TDs. Mendonca made it to the Pro Bowl in S21 as a reserve RB for the ASFC squad.
- 7. Mo Berry - LB -
- @Frick_Nasty
S21 Stats: 95 Tackles, 16 Sacks, 2 TFLs, 3 FF, 2 FR, 12 PDs, 1 INT
Berry is arguably the most complete defender in the entire NSFL. He led the league in Sacks with 16, 3 more than the next best. He also tied for the league lead in Fumbles Forced and Fumbles Recovered. His 12 Passes Defended puts him top 5 among linebackers, and he was also able to grab an interception. Berry capped off S21 by winning back to back Defensive Player of the Year and back to back Linebacker of the Year awards. It should surprise no one that he also earned a trip to the S21 Pro Bowl representing the NSFC. I was shocked to see Berry come in outside of the top 5.
- 6. Sam Torenson - RB -
- @Jonny2x
S21 Stats: 314 carries, 1305 yards, 9 TDs; 37 receptions, 195 yards
Torenson led the NSFL in carries and rushing yards. He also finished with a solid 4.2 yards per carry despite being the most heavily used RB in the running game. His 9 rushing TDs was good for second in the league. His performance earned him a spot on the NSFC Pro Bowl roster in S21.
- 5. Wolfie McDummy - QB -
- @infinitempg
S21 Stats: 280comp/498att, 3490 yards, 21 TDs, 7 INTs; 82 carries, 370 yards, 7 TDs
McDummy had a good season as passer, finishing top 5 yards, and a solid TD/INT ratio of 3:1. However, where he stands out among QBs is as a runner. He had the longest run of the season with an 80 yard scramble. He also picked up 7 rushing TDs, the next highest QB had 3. He also led all runners in yards per carry by averaging 7.7 yards per carry, the next highest (with over 5 attempts) is Franklin Armstong with 4.9 yards per carry.
- 4. Forrest Gump - RB -
- @TomHanks
S21 Stats: 231 carries, 1031 yards, 7 TDs; 44 catches, 480 yards, 3 TDs; 56 returns, 996 return yards, 2 TDs
Gump filled up the stat sheet no matter what he was asked to do for the S21 Champion Second Line. Gump broke the 1,000 yard mark rushing and finished 5th in rushing yards. He also tied for 5th in rushing TDs with 7. He added nearly 500 yards in the receiving game. And found the endzone a total of 12 times counting the two punts he returned for TDs. Gump made the S21 Pro Bowl as a returner for the ASFC.
- 3. Nero Alexander - DE -
- @shadyshoelace
S21 Stats: 38 tackles, 7 TFLs, 1 sack, 2 FF
…..This is going to probably be the most contested ranking on the list. He was statistically outperformed by every other defensive lineman and defender on this list. He did force 2 fumbles, which is only 1 behind the league leaders. However, he comes up well outside of the top 10 in every other meaningful statistical measure for his position. I guess he saw a lot of double, or maybe even triple teams that limited his production but illustrated his value on the field. He did make the S21 Pro Bowl as a reserve defensive lineman for the NSFC.
- 2. Corvo Havran - QB -
- @Raven
S21 Stats: 236comp/433att, 3333 yards, 32 TDs, 4 INTs; 15 carries, 52 yards
Havran put up an amazing S21 season passing for the Hawks. He finished 5th in passing yards, 1st in TDs, and put up an absurd 8:1 TD/INT ratio. He finished second in QB rating with a 100.4. Havran was named the S21 NSFL Offensive Player of the Year and earned a spot in the S21 Pro Bowl as the starting QB for the ASFC. Havran left the Hawks in the offseason and joined the Honolulu Hahalua as a founding member.
….and that means that the #1 NSFL player is none other than:
[div align=\\\"center\\\"][/div]
- 1. Franklin Armstrong - QB -
- @moonlight
S21 Stats: 247comp/389att, 3190 yards, 26 TDs, 2 INTs; 87 carries, 423 yards, 2 TDs
Armstrong had yet another outstanding season in S21. He threw and ran his way to his third consecutive NSFL Most Valuable Player award. With that he became the first player to win three consecutive MVPs since former Otters QB Mike Boss accomplished the feat in S4-S6. Armstrong won due to his unbelievable efficiency, he ended up with a 13:1 TD/INT ratio and broke the league record of QB rating with an unheard of 109.3. On top of his success as a passer, he also led all QBs in rushing yards with 423. Armstrong also earned his spot in the S21 Pro Bowl representing the ASFC.
