I think that when the S22 Draft Class entered the league we can all agree a new era had begun in the NSFL. With an influx of so many talented players, the DSFL was on the map. The games became more competitive with high-caliber talents making the matches much watch streams. This new generation of players was changing the face of the league. At the beginning of S23, I was eligible to make my NSFL squad. I asked to be sent down for a third DSFL season for a few reasons. We had a new GM heading into the S23 season and I wanted to make his first draft a little easier. We had a really talented S22 team and a lot of those players were rightfully called up. I also believe that one of the best things you can do as a veteran sim league player is teach the new players how to earn. My first season was spent trying to figure it out on my own. It wasn’t because there weren’t any helpful people, but my own social anxiety. I wanted to make sure nobody else shared my experience. The NSFL and DSFL are both full of friendly, helpful people. This league is very rewarding when you know what you’re doing. I think rookie mentors do an incredible job, but if you have vets in your locker room helping new draftees, it’s much easier for them when they need help. That’s the beauty of the DSFL. Sure, wins, championships and individual accolades are nice. But the true spirit of the Developmental Simulation Football League is to help new users develop and learn in hopes that they become the next generation of Pro Bowlers, GMs, Jobbers, and HO. So if you ask me if I think the DSFL matters, my answer is going to be an emphatic yes. It may not be as high-flying as the NSFL, but what you do in the DSFL totally has an impact on you as a player and as a user. With that being said, I want to thank every GM, updater, graphics grader, rookie mentor, and veteran who has helped me along the way. The league certainly has a learning curve, but when you feel like you can approach someone (and you totally can!), you can grow tremendously during your time in the DSFL.
