Greetings ISFL and welcome to the Champions Edition of the Yellowknife Wraiths Spooky Awards! Thanks to our team members who voted on these and all our team for their contributions this season! Lets get into the awards:
Offensive player of the year
Mathias Hanyadi @CLG Rampage
Also Receiving votes
Cooter Bigsby @timeconsumer
Bender B. Rodriguez @pazuzu
It’s hard to argue that the league MVP wasn’t Yellowknifes best player on offence this season. Racking up a ridiculous stat line of 1317/13 on the ground and 539/3 in the air, Hanyadi was a truly duel threat RB and deserved MVP winner. The dominant NSFC offence was led by Hanyadi’s 16 TDs, the most in the league outside of QBs. You couldn’t have an offensive player award without considering the outgoing Cooter Bigsby who had another excellent season to follow up last years MVP and even in a very deep receiving corps, Bender Rodriguez still put up over 1100 yards.
Defensive Player of the Year
Douglas Quaid @HENDRIX 2.0
Also Receiving votes
Magnus Valdyr @KamiCommie
Douglas Quaid was the runaway winner in this category with a stellar season. 122 tackles, 5 TFL, 1 FF/FR, 13 Sacks, 1 Int and 15 PDs is a marvellous stat line and had him in contention for LBotY throughout the league. Valdyr put up a great season for his rookie year, challenging the veteran players for DPotY.
Team MVP
Mathias Hanyadi
Also Receiving votes
Cooter Bigsby
Nero Alexander @shadyshoelace
The league MVP also wins the Yellowknife MVP! With the sort of season he has had it would be hard to give it to anyone else. Hanyadi truly looks like the #1 back in the league Cooter Bigsby flew under the radar a little in the awards but put up the second most yards in the league with the best completion percentage. Shady puts in the hard work on the DL even though his stats may not show it. There may be a different award waiting for Shady though.
Most Improved player
Douglas Quaid
Also Receiving votes
Patrik Money
Back to back most improved player awards for Quaid show the sort of season he has had. The Breakout defensive player of the year continues to improve and is a cornerstone of the Ultimus winning team.
Rookie of the year
Magnus Valdyr
Also Receiving votes
Mike Lee @youngcricket
Excellent performances by both rookies this season but Valdyr wins out on the vote. 127 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 FR 1 Int and 17 PDs are stats that even veteran Safeties aspire to as he was the highest tackling safety in the league, while being 1 off the highest PD Safety. Mike Lee was a solid part of the receiving group with 273/2 and got the vital receiving TD in the tight Conference championship game against Colorado.
Performance of the year
Mathias Hanyadi - W10
Also Receiving votes
Acura Skyline - Ultimus @Skyline
Dougie Smalls - Conference Championship @iseedoug
A plethora of performances throughout the year could have won this award but once again, the league-wide voted performance takes the crown. 129 yards rushing for 3 TDs in addition to 42 yards in the air adding another TD. 4 TDs in one game is an amazing feat for a running back and helped push him over the edge to lead the league in rushing TDs. Skyline had a fantasy football monster of a game in the Ultimus with only 19 rushing yards but 3 TDs! Dougie smalls was the difference between the two teams in the Conference championship with 2 long range field goals and 419 punting yards, constantly flipping the field to help the Yellowknife defence stifle Colorado.
Playoff MVP
Douglas Quaid and Mathias Hanyadi
Also Receiving votes
Cooter Bigsby
Laszlo Forty-Two @C9Van
A joint award going to the Defensive an Offensive players of the year who continued their fine form into the playoffs. Over the 2 games Quaid put up 16 tackles, 2 TFL and an incredible 4 sacks and Hanyadi had 264 all-purpose yards in the playoffs, really getting the offence going. Both other candidates had a superb Ultimus game, Cooter threw for nearly 300 yards with 2 TDs and Laszlo picked up 13 pancakes with no penalties or sacks allowed, a dominant performance from both.
Future NSFL MVP
Acura Skyline
Also Receiving votes
Douglas Quaid
Mathias Hanyadi
Mike Lee
Colby Jack @flyeaglesfly29
Yellowknife, having won the last 2 MVP awards, have a strong history and there are a lot of players who have future MVP potential. Our winner is Acura Skyline who hopes to follow in the footsteps of Hanyadi to become an MVP winning RB. Quaid and Hanyadi as Defensive and Offensive players of the season had strong showings and Hanyadi will be itching to add a second MVP to his collection if possible. Mike Lee and incoming QB Colby Jack should be lighting up the league for years to come.

Fly
BigRed @Bigred1580
Colabear @Colabear
One of the most prestigious awards and a very worthy winner. No one has but more blood sweat and tears into this season’s Ultimus win than Shady. The last dance for the former GM ended in success after seasons of heartbreak. Fly, BigRed and colabear were also all very deserving nominees for all the work they put in. However, Shady’s swan song makes him a deserving winner.
Locker Room MVP
Bigred
Also Receiving votes
Action Jackson @KillaScrilla
Shady
Skyline
Everyone loves BigRed and it will be heart-breaking to see him in another team’s jersey next season. We will miss his wholesome and supportive presence in the locker room and his adorable pictures of Herbie. The former GM has been a staple of the Yellowknife locker room for many seasons and we wish him all the best in San Jose. Action Jackson was an excellent addition to the team this season and his personality in the locker room was truly felt and added an extra spark this year. Shady was always about getting people hyped up for games and Skyline will look to continue the locker room environment for seasons to come.
Every member on the team deserves a shout out for coming together to win the big game finally. There isn’t a single person on this team we could have done it without. However, we do have special shout outs for @`AirCrou`, BR, @manicmav36 and Cooter for sticking with the team through the heartbreaking times and to Laszlo and Iseedoug for their locker room atmosphere they brought.
It's an honour to be taking over from Shady and all the guys in the team and in the locker make this the great team it is! Thanks for reading and hopefully we'll have another champions edition next season
