Pack Opening Review. Episode Five. Let's do this!
Here we are again. Another day, another pack opening. And this will be a double one. I was busy yesterday, and I don't want to have backlog. But first, let's see where the pulls stand after last time:
Total cards opened: 24
Legend (Blue/Sapphire): 1- 4.16...6%
All-Pro (Red/Ruby): 1 - 4.16...6%
Star (Gold): 6 - 25%
Starter (Silver): 7 - 29.16...6%%
Backup (Bronze): 9 - 37.5%
After a small reminder, let's start with the first pack. The first card is Backup Baltimore cornerback from the season 13 majors draft, Spencer Castle. I think he is not around anymore. Yup. He is retired. He announced Season 22 would be his last. I know the user, AsylumParty is in the Sim Team, but about the player, I am caught lacking, like most of the players in the collection to be completely honest. But that is what you get for being scarcely active in the general discord server.
Next is Starter Chicago defensive end Mario Von Pebbles. He is part of the class that led to both tiers within our system expand. DSFL expanded in season 21, with Dallas and London getting the approvals to field teams, and the ISFL expanded in season 22, with Sarasota and Honolulu. It was the biggest class the league has ever seen. 271 people at the S21 DSFL Draft, 284 in the S22 ISFL Draft. Insane numbers. We could go with 4 teams then, but I guess undershooting is more preferrable than overshooting when it comes to expansions. The danger of contraction is always high.
Another Backup, another season 13 player. This time, San Jose running back, Corwin Davenport. He went inactive, and retired before the conclusion of season 20. I think he was on the team that got obliterated by Baltimore, in Ultimus Bowl 14, when the Hawks were too much to handle, beating the SaberCats by the, unheard of, 49-0.
Next is Starter Luke Smyles. I kinda remember that name. I know I saw it somewhere, let me have a look... Ah yes, he was traded to Yellowknife when he went inactive. His user, Symmetrik, returned and recreated an offensive lineman, Byron Dolls, part of the massive season 22 ISFL draft class.
Gimme something good, for Gods' sake! Season 22 defensive end, from Chicago, Symeon Works. I think he joined the league after that S21 prospect draft, meaning he went straight to the ISFL draft, after he was claimed from waivers by a DSFL team. I do not know, will not look. Backup rarity... Yikes...
Last card of the first pack. IT IS A DUPLICATE! MARIO VONPEBBLES AGAIN! Is this intended?! Holy hell! That sucks...
Second pack. Let's hope lady luck will smile on us for this one. Let's crack it open... Jaquan Young, wide receiver, season 3, Colorado Yeti. Trip back to memory lane. Again I am caught lacking, no comment on this one. The pattern of backup cards continues though.
Aaand there is another freaking backup card. Tight End Alvin Chipmunk. I give that name a 10/10 just for the name and render. A season 7 player from the Colorado Yeti, he was surely retired by the time I joined the league. I do not know his user to tell you if they have recreated though.
Alex Hansen is the next one. A season 1 safety, who peaked for the San Jose SaberCats. Starter rarity. He is another player that helped set the foundations for the league we enjoy today. Just being active sometimes helps. Doing the PTs, the predictions, training, talking in your locker room. Being engaged in general. Even that can help bring the league forward.
Starter wide receiver Carter Bush is the next card. He reached his peak TPE, which the rarity of the card is based from, while playing for the Philadelphia Liberty. He joined the ISFL in Season 7. I do not remember him at all while I have been in the league. I guess you miss things when you mostly focus on your team's locker room and not the forum or the general server.
Another backup. What is it? The fifth, sixth I pulled so par? It's the sixth. God. Where the good pulls at! How can someone be so unlucky? I guess judging by the fact it took me 5 tries to win an Ultimus, there is a way. There is always a way. For everything. It is season 23 Eugene Smoothie. A safety, being under contract with Philadelphia Liberty. He is still a rising prospect, so I can see his card being upgraded.
Bro. SERIOUSLY? Same card back to back? It looks like a sign I shouldn't open another pack. But I am not giving up. We will keep pushing. Nothing to say here, let's jump straight to the new stats:
Total cards opened: 36
Legend (Blue/Sapphire): 1- 2.77...7%
All-Pro (Red/Ruby): 1 - 2.77...7%
Star (Gold): 6 - 16.66...6%
Starter (Silver): 12 - 33.33...3%%
Backup (Bronze): 16 - 44.44...4%
An important thing to note here. Even if you pull a duplicate, only one copy of each card will show. So yeah, my collection has 34 cards, when I have opened 6 packs, a total of 36 cards. I may not even bother with this if it does not get fixed. But it makes me profit. I can write something like this and make the $500k back.
And that's it for this one, folks. I may be back tomorrow with the next pack! Peace!
