Here we are folks. The Culmination of weeks of research and development. trial and error. and sh** tons of writing. The event youve all been waiting for...My ISFL Ultimus Legacy tournament. Below are the results from each game of each round of this 24 team tournament. Please enjoy and may the best team win.
Round One -
S8 Wraiths - vs - S24 Sabercats
I know this Sabercats team JUST won the ultimus, but in my opinion they were underdogs in that game and I had them as the ultimate underdog here in the tournament. Unfortunately the wraiths from season 8 proved too much quality and dominated the game front to back. The Sabercats did ok running the ball, with 26 carries for 109 yards, but the wraiths had 41 carries for 226. The sabercat QB had trouble, he went 16/38 and 214 yards with 1 TD - 0 INT. On the other side the Wraiths threw 17/30 for 205 yards, 2 TD and 1 INT. On the defensive side The wraiths totalled 5 sacks and recovered 1 fumble. The Sabercats had 1 sack and 1 INT, which coincidentally were both from the same player.
Final Score : S8 Wraiths 38, S24 Sabercats 10.
S15 Hawks - vs - S14 Sabercats
Im sorry Sabercats I love you all, but this sim just didnt favor you today. The season 15 Hawks QB threw for 18/27 and 209 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT. While they didnt run very well, 43 carries and 147 yards, the air attack was lethal. On the defense for the Hawks it was a slow day, garnering only 1 sack and 1 INT, but the bend dont break mantra was in full effect. The Sabercats ran the ball 25 times for 80 yards and 1 TD that came in the 4th. The Sabercat Air attack was left wanting more, 21/43 and 217 yards but no TDs and 1 INT. The Sabercat defense recorded only 1 sack but had an INT and a fumble recovery which unfortunately didn't result in points until it was too late.
Final Score : S15 Hawks 24 - S14 Sabercats 12
S13Otters - vs - S4 Otters
The S13 otters came out on top today throwing a mind boggling 24/28 for 266 yards and 2 Tds. They rushed 38 times for 120 yards, and on defense they recorded 2 sacks and no turnovers. The S4 otters played a pretty solid game also. Throwing the ball for 21/30 for 326 yards and 1 TD. They were efficient running the ball going for 23 carries and 101 yards with no TDs. Overall this was a great game to watch, they both threw the ball incredibly efficiently and ran well using play action. The season 5 otters just did both a little better.
Final Score : S4 Otters 24 - S13Otters 19
S18 Otters - vs - Season 7 Liberty
The Liberty came in hot for the first official upset in an overtime thriller! They threw 35/48 for 361 yards, 3 TDs and 2 Ints. They ran the ball incredibly, going for 237 yards in 39 carries. On defense they failed to get any sacks, but did have one interception. The Otters air attack was effective, 24/41 319 yards and FIVE touchdowns with one interception. They had to air the ball out a lot in this shootout and they threw it extremely well. The ground game suffered a lot, only able to get 95 yards in 28 carries. On defense the otters had the games only sack and a pair of interceptions. The score at the end of the fourth was 31-31. In overtime the Liberty scored first with an 18 yard TD pass. The otters responded with a good drive and an 8 yard TD pass. The Otters got the ball back first and had to settle for a field goal, while the Liberty scored on a 10 yard TD run to seal the game.
final score : S7 Liberty 44 - S18 Otters 41 - 2OT
S3 Outlaws - vs - S20 Copperheads
The Copperheads fought tooth and nail, but it just wasnt enough this time. They ran incredibly well, going for 192 yards on 32 carries. The passing game was equally effective at 23/28 266 yards and 3 TDs with 0 Interceptions. They struggles a bit on defense, having only 2 sacks, but they did get an interception and a fumble recovery. The Outlaws Air attack was equally impressive at 24/33 345 yards and 3 TDs with 1 Interception. The Otter ground game was not quite equal but still very good. They ran for 176 yards on 30 carries. Defensively the Outlaws scored 3 sacks, but failed to cause any turnovers. with 30 seconds left the Copperheads were ahead 27-24, but the Outlaws went for it on fourth down and converted, then scored on a 35 yard hail mary pass that was caught with 0 seconds left. Some real Aaron Rodgers kinda stuff. Even though its only been a few games this has been the funnest for me to watch so Im gonna rub that in a little.
Final Score : S3 Outlaws 31 - S20 Copperheads 27
S2 Outlaws - vs - S10 Hawks
The Outlaws were the better team today, running the ball for 180 yards on 36 carries, throwing the ball extremely well with 21/30 256 yards and a TD. On defense they only had 1 sack, but recovered a fumble on that same play. Their MLB also recorded an insane 16 tackles. The Hawks defense also only had 1 sack but managed to force and recover two fumbles. They threw the ball great as well going for 25/32 282 yards and a TD. Running the ball was harder for them as they only had 99 yards on 31 carries. It was a tight game throughout, coming down to a late Outlaw TD that sealed the game.
Final Score : S2 Outlaws 27 - S10 Hawks 23
S12 Otters - vs - S17 Otters
The Otters from season 17 had a rough time getting anything going on the ground, in 22 carries they ran for 83 yards. Their RB had a TD and a fumble. In the air they were pretty efficient in yards with 304 and a TD thrown in, though they only completed 52.4% with 22/42. On defense they sacked the S12 QB 6 times, but failed to force any turnovers. The S12 Otters threw for 242 yards and a 61.6% completions with 16/26 and 3 TDs. They ran the ball 36 times for 127 yards, though none of their Rbs scored on the ground. On defense they recorded 4 sacks, and recovered 1 fumble that resulted in a TD pass on the next play. When the fourth quarter started it was a 2 point game at 19-17, but after a field goal and recovering that fumble, the S12 Otters were able to ice tha game.
Final Score : S12 Otters 29 - S17 Otters 17
S22 Yeti - vs - S16 Outlaws
This game started out hot with both teams scoring on their opening drive. The Outlaw QB threw a 1 yard pass to his TE, and the Yeti QB scrambled 19 yards for a TD. The Outlaws struggled on the ground, only managing 94 yards in 28 carries. Threw the Air they played well, throwing for 277 yards in 22/36 and 1 TD with 1 int. The defense stole the show for the Outlaws, stealing away 2 passes for interceptions, and forcing a Fumble. Unfortunately for them the Yeti defense was also stout, recording 3 sacks and an INT, while also holding the Outlaws to only 13 points. This was the lowest scoring game yet, with two great defenses going head to head.
Final Score : S22 Yeti 7 - S16 Outlaws 13
Round Two -
S8 Wraiths - vs - S6 Otters
This was another pretty low scoring, close game. The Wraiths from season 8 ran the ball extremely well, going for 136 yards on 27 carries. They struggled a bit in the air throwing for 16/33 and 173 yards with 1 TD. On defense they recorded one sack, and managed a single interception. The S6 Otters also ran great going for 164 yards in 36 carries, with each RB scoring a TD. In the air they completed most of their passes, 24/33 and 210 yards, but failed to throw any touchdowns, and threw a single Interception. On defense the S6 Otters recorded one sack, but failed to force any turnovers. Both teams played relatively clean game with few turnovers, but the Otter Rbs managed to hit paydirt giving them the win in a tight game 17-15
Final Score : S6 Otters 17 - S8 Wraiths 15
S15 Hawks - vs - S11 Second Line
The Second Line played a clean game with no turnovers. They ran 34 times for 138 yards, and threw 18/25 for 190 yards with a TD pass. Defensively they recorded 6 sacks, an interception and forced and recovered 2 fumbles. The real stat for the defense though, came in the first quarter when they blocked a filed goal and returned it for a TD. The Hawks played a pretty great game, if it wasnt for the two fumbles and interception they could have won this game. They ran 21 times for 104 yards and 1 TD, and threw even better at 35/45 for 342 yards. The only killer was they failed to reach the end zone through the air and threw an Interception. The second line pass rush killed their momentum many times and turnovers were often at critical moments. They scored their only TD in the fourth and were pushing on a late game drive that would have given them enough time to get it back and score again to win, but an interception killed the drive, allowing New Orleans to run the ball until the game ended.
Final Score : S11 Second Line 16 - S15 Hawks 6
S4 Otters - vs - S21 Second Line
Yet another close game, as all of these championship teams want to prove they are the best. In this hotly contested matchup the S4 Otters ran the ball a whopping 40 times, but only generated 102 yards and 1 TD. They threw the ball well enough, but would have benefitted from throwing more often. They went 15/22 with 139 yards and a TD. Defensively they adopted a bend dont break mantra, recording 2 sacks and 2 red zone interceptions. The S21 Second line threw more but werent as efficient, or careful. They went 29/47 for 299 yards and two interceptions. On the ground they ran 22 times for only 69 yards. The only rusher who had over 3 ypc was the QB who ran twice for 22 yards. Defensively the Second Line failed to generate any meaningful stats, however they did hold their opponent to 20 points.
Final Score : S21 Second Line 15 - S4 Otters 20
S7 Liberty - vs - S1 Outlaws
The Liberty of S7, ranked #21, are proving to be an underdog story in the making and quickly becoming one of my favorites moving forward in this tournament. They ran 40 times for 174 yards and 2 Tds. Through they air they had another good game going 17/26 with 235 yards and a TD. On defense they recorded one sack, but managed an Interception and two fumble recoveries. The Outlaws from season 1 came in ranked #6 in my rankings, and palyed well enough to warrant that rank. Passing for 31/41 and 356 yards with 2 TDs and 1 Interception, they moved the ball really well through the air. On the ground they were also really effective, rushing 25 times for 117 yards. They did however fumble twice while rushing. On defense they managed a sack, but failed to deliver much else. The Underdog Liberty team led early, 17-0 at half. They almost allowed a comeback thoug, allowing 19 points in the 4th quarter.
Final Score : S7 Liberty 27 - S1 Outlaws 22
S3 Outlaws - vs - S19 Otters
The S19 otters came out swinging, Throwing a mindblowing 18/22 and 287 yards with 3 TDs and 0 picks. They struggled to run the ball well, on 38 carries they ran 129 yards. The one good run on the ground came from a WR on a reverse that went 84 yards for a TD. Defensively they recorded 4 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries, andThey also forced a safety in the first quarter. The Outlaws from S3 failed to move much on the ground, though in only 19 carries they did run for 96 yards, with their RB running 12 times for 78 yards and a TD. In the air they threw for 29/40 and 325 yards with 2 TDs. Defensively they managed 2 sacks, but failed to generate any other big plays. Overall this game was dominated by the passing game, both QBs threw well and avoided mistakes, while the ground game struggled. Defensively the Otters 2 forced turnovers made a big difference in the final score in a game that was mostly one sided.
Final Score S19 Otters 40 - S3 Outlaws 20
S2 Outlaws - vs - S9 Second Line
In a defensive heavy game, The Second Line forced two interceptions and a forced fumble, and they sacked the Outlaw QB 5 times. On Offense they moved the ball well, but failed to score much in the redzone, relying on 3 field goals. In the air they threw 17/25 and 183 yards with 0 tds and 0 int. They struggled on the ground only getting 70 yards on 33 attempts. The Outlaws defense recorded 2 sacks, but no other noteworthy stats. The ran well however, going for 114 yards in 33 carries. The game was on the wire in the fourth quarter, with the score at 15-10 the Outlaws had the ball with 2 minutes left. An interception gave it back to New Orleans but the Outlaws forced a punt. With the score still 15-10 the Outlaws had the ball at the Second line 40 with 22 seconds when they coughed up a fumble that was recovered by Second line to seal it. They had 2 chances to win late but couldnt make it count.
Final Score S2 Outlaws 10 - S9 Second Line 15
S12 Otters - vs - S23 Wraiths
This game went about how I thought it would, though it wasnt quite as bad in my mind. The wraiths ran 44 times for 167 yards with a TD along the way. They threw for 232 yards and completed 19/25 attempts with 2 TDs and 0 interceptions. Defensively they sacked the Otter QB 7 times and intercepted him twice, one of which was returned for a TD. In those 7 sacks, two of them were strips for a fumble recvery. The Otter defense did no such thing, managing only 1 sack. Offensively the Qb struggled with turnovers but threw 20/36 for 260 yards and 2 Tds to match his 2 Ints, though he still had 2 fumbles. On the ground they ran really well, running 18 times for 127 yards. Had they not been behind and forced to throw, their ground game could have been devastating. Unfortunately for them, a close game early on, turned into a nightmare in the second quarter when the wraiths returned an INT for a touchdown. Things went from bad to worse on the next drive when they tried to kick a fg only to have it blocked and returned for a TD before haltime. The otters only managed a TD and a fg after that point.
Final Score S23 Wraiths 47 - S12 Otters 22
S16 Outlaws - vs - S5 Otters
In a tight matchup the S5 Otters struggled on offense. They threw 22/43 for 199 yards and 1 TD to 1 Int. They ran for 74 yards on 22 carries. At the start of the fourth it was 18-3 Outlaws. I thought it was going to be over, but the otters pulled themselves up and scored 18 unanswered points to win the game 21-18
Final Score : S5 Otters 21 - S16 Outlaws 18

Final Score : S4 Otters 37 - S7 Liberty 31

The Second Line managed a field goal at the end of the 3rd. 10-3 Otters. In the 4th all the chains fell off and both teams hit the gas pedal. Final Score : S19 Otters 24 - S9 Second Line 21
S23 Wraiths - vs - S5 Otters.
The battle between the #2 and #3 seed. Wasnt much of a battle however. The wraiths ground game was effective but not breathtaking as they ran for 114 yards and 1 Touchdown on 42 carries. The air attack was good though, torching the S5 secondary to the tune of 27/35 for 392 yards and 2 Touchdowns. The Wraith QB also had the tournaments highest QBR of 132.8. Defensively the Wraiths were stout. With 7 sacks total and 2 interceptions they shut the Otters offense down, leading to the tournaments first shutout. The Otters failed to get much going offensively, running 20 times for 67 yards, and throwing for 183 yards and2 interceptions and 14/36 completions. Semi Finals
S11 Second Line - vs - S4 Otters
The Second Line came in slightly favored to win, and they well could have. Running for 105 yards on 24 carries and with a TD thrown in,their ground game was solid. The air attack was decentbut not impressive as they threw 22/37 and 225 yards with 2 interceptions. On defense they recorded one sack and 1 fumble recovery. The S4 Otters recorded 5 sacks in the contest and 2 fumble recoveries. Offensively they lit up the Second Line secondary for 22/27 completions and 219 yards with a touchdown and zero picks. On the ground they had a tougher time of it, rushing 33 times with 91 yards to show for it. The Otters came out much hotter than the Second Line, getting a 20-3 lead at halftime. The Second Line were even in catching distance as the only touchdown they scored came late in the fourth when their wasnt enough time to get the ball back. The Otters here simply played better and did more when it mattered. A side note the Otters kicker here also set the tournaments longest field goal twice in this game, first with a 52 yarder, and then later he nailed an INSANE 60 yarder that I thought for sure was a miss but here we are. This was a good game, however the Otters were pretty dominant from the start, hopefully they can keep that up in the finals where they will be the underdogs no matter who wins the next game.
Final Score : S4 Otters 26 - S11 Second Line 10
S19 Otters - vs - S23 Wraiths
This battle of top five titans was a game to remember.
The Otters came out swinging for the fences, scoring a TD on a 75 yard bomb on the very first play. The Wriaths responded with a methodical drive down field that ended with a 27 yard field goal. The Otters scored again with a 10 yard run, which was answered by the Wraiths with a 12 yard TD pass. The Otters fumbled on the next drive allowing the Wraiths to score before halftime. 17-14 Wraiths at halftime. The Wraiths got the ball after the half but were forced to punt, the kick was returned by the Otters for 67 yards and a TD 21-17 Otters. The Wraiths scored on an 11 yard run, bringing it 28-25 otters. After an Otter punt the wraiths got the ball back, but had to settle for a field goal to tie it up 28-28. The Otters final fatal error occurred that quite literally sealed their fate. With 48 Seconds left they were on the Wraith 48, trying to get into field goal range they dropped back to pass, but in came the Wraiths DE for a strip sack. Two chunk passes later, and a run out of bounds, the Wraiths were lined up to win it. A 35 yard field goal with 0:8 seconds on the clock soared through the uprights sending the S23 wraiths to the finals. The Wraiths and Otters both played a great game here, the Otters won the battle on the ground with 34 carries for 150 yards and a TD. The Wraith ground game wasnt far behind though, rushing for 135 yards and a TD on 34 carries. The Wraiths won the Air battle though, at least in terms of yardage with 18/31 and 304 yards with 2 TDs. The Otters finished 21/30 and 216 yards with 2 Tds. Both passing attacks were solid, the Wraiths had the edge in yards while the Otters had the edge in Completion percentage. The stats on the defensive side were about equal, with the Wraiths getting a slight edge with 3 sacks and a Fumble recovery. The Otters defense recorded 3 sacks on the day. Both teams here were ranked in my top five and they each made the semi finals and played a great game.

They made it in range, at the Otter 32 yard line, but obviously needed a touchdown. After three incompletions downfield the Wraiths were at 4th down with only one chance left to win the game. An obvious hail mary situation the Otters were in a dime formation with 3 deep. With now only 28 seconds left the Wraith QB launches the ball down field! The pass has the range but is thrown into double coverage and picked off! The game is sealed, the otters run out the clock and celebrate!
Final Score : S4 Otters 22 - S23 Wraiths 17
In all this was a great game to watch. The Wraiths actually led in most categories, with rushing they went 149 yards in 24 carries. In the air they threw for 30/42 and 278 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. On defense they sacked the quarterback only twice, and forced and interception and 1 fumble recovery. The Otters defense only recorded 1 sack, but 2 interceptions, including the game winner, and forced and recovered a fumble. Offensively The Otters played well, they struggled in the passing game, with 20/28 and only 188 yards with 1 touchdown and one Interception. On the ground they ran 33 times for 116 yards. These two teams both dominated most of the games they played, and each came out on top in a few nail biters. But this game was close throughout and each team played well, and were worthy of a spot in the finals. Honestly every team on the list could have made the finals and I wouldnt have been suprised. They each won an Ultimus to be fair, so none of them were pushovers.
In the end this was an incredibly fun media piece to work on, I got to learn a lot league history (I think I know all of the ultimus winners by year now) and have some fun on a new game where I was able to sim this Legacy Tournament. Also get to make some fake money but thats whatevs. I hope you guys enjoyed this as much as I did and hope I didnt offend anyone by writing about your team losing in my tournament haha. In the end it was just a bit of fun to learn the history and answer the question of which Ultimus team would win in a fight. Well as of today the unofficial/Official answer is the Season 4 Orange County Otters.
the total results of each rank at the end are below. with the rank they finished on the left, and the rank they started on the right.
1 S4 Otters 11
2 S23 Wraiths 3

the S14 sabercats, the Season 13 Otters, the S20 copperheads, the S2 Outlaws, the season 3 outlaws, and the S19 Otters and S23 Wraiths. the only team I was reeeeeeallly way off on was the Liberty, but they turned into the tournaments dark horse in week one so its ok. Overall I was pretty close!
Let me know if you have any ideas for another League Legacy style tournament or matchup and I might just do it next!
Round One -
S8 Wraiths - vs - S24 Sabercats
I know this Sabercats team JUST won the ultimus, but in my opinion they were underdogs in that game and I had them as the ultimate underdog here in the tournament. Unfortunately the wraiths from season 8 proved too much quality and dominated the game front to back.
Through they air they had another good game going 17/26 with 235 yards and a TD. On defense they recorded one sack, but managed an Interception and two fumble recoveries. Defensively the Otters 2 forced turnovers made a big difference in the final score in a game that was mostly one sided.

The battle between the #2 and #3 seed. Wasnt much of a battle however. The wraiths ground game was effective but not breathtaking as they ran for 114 yards and 1 Touchdown on 42 carries. S11 Second Line - vs - S4 Otters
The Second Line came in slightly favored to win, and they well could have. Running for 105 yards on 24 carries and with a TD thrown in,their ground game was solid.

Two chunk passes later, and a run out of bounds, the Wraiths were lined up to win it.
