After a lot of soul searching, deep thinking, some transcendental meditation and hitting every pastry shop, cafe and patisserie in Austin I have come to to following conclusion.
Doughnuts are indeed definitely 100% pastries.
On the thread of my wonderful and all knowing GMs podcast I made a statement counter to this. I now know that this was very wrong and hurtfully to all people in the doughnut aficionado community, I now use this forum to reach out to them in the hope they can accept my humble apology.
