[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Well, one thing that is going to change in Chicago is the open communication portion of the leadership. We want to be very open and honest with every player, and anyone that wants to come here will have the same. So, with that said, how about we go into the minds of the Chicago Butchers General Managers?
PLEASE NOTE: This may not be our final list. We are going through everything right now, but this is what we are thinking right now. Everyone is doing these articles, so how about we do this for ourselves?
We have an expansion draft coming up, so who are we exposing? Who would we be protecting? We still have 3 days to make up our minds, but currently, here is potentially what would come from the expansion draft. Note the above, we may still change our minds after talking to members of the team. [/div]
Auto-Protections:
- S21 players are exempt from the expansion draft
WR Raheem Okusi (Drafted 7th Round, 61st Overall)
Raheem Okusi was the league leader in receiving yards and catches in the entire DSFL for the Portland Pythons as he had 66 catches for 894 yards and 6 touchdowns. Honestly, he could be the Wide Receiver of the Year. So, there is no doubt that we will be keeping this guy as an auto-protect. He was a steal in the 7th round of the Season 21 draft, so we will be keeping him as a WR to hopefully be a part of the future.
WR Jerome Davis (Drafted 2nd Round, 20th Overall)
Jerome Davis played all 13 games for the Chicago Butchers last season catching 25 balls for 312 yards and 4 touchdowns as a rookie. Now, he will definitely need to be a little bit of a bigger part of the offense in this next season as a huge Wide Receiver. Being a second round pick, Davis will definitely be someone we are keeping for a bit as we rebuild the team.
TE Osiris Firestorm-Fjord (Drafted 1st Round, 6th Overall)
Firestorm-Fjord had 45 catches for 330 yards, but was held without a touchdown during the season for the Chicago Butchers. He was a core piece of the offense and as the 6th Overall Pick, he will be a franchise piece moving forward. He was 3rd on the team in catches only behind Ryan Leaf and Sean O'Leary. He will be staying in Chicago for a while longer, you can guarantee that.
LB Perry Tucker (Drafted 3rd Round, 30th Overall)
Tucker Jr. had a fantastic season for the Portland Pythons with 118 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, an incredible 5 forced fumbles, 5 sacks, and 7 pass deflections. He was an amazing asset as a LB and will be a key member to the Chicago Linebacking core of Bayley and Hockhertz. This guy was a 3rd round pick, but plays so much higher as he will look to have a similar impact with the Butchers as soon as next season.
DT John Smirh (Drafted 4th Round, 31st Overall)
As a rookie, Smirh, had 31 tackles and 5 sacks. He will be right in the middle of the line with Thorian Skarsgard which is going to be a fun line for other teams to try to run on especially with Bayley Jr. coming in on the next level. This was a great addition by the Butchers during the off-season, of course, I guess he will make it another season.
PROTECTION LIST (7)
WR Sean O'Leary
Sean O'Leary will be the first player that we will be protecting in this draft. He had a really great year for the Butchers last season with 64 catches, 733 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Those 14 touchdowns were actually tied for first in the entire league with Maddox. In the final game of the season against the NOLA Second Line where the new GMs had a chance to try to get everyone involved, O'Leary had 4 catches for 61 yards and 3 Touchdowns. I would look for more huge games from O'Leary as he looks to keep going and developing with the Butchers. He will be the #1 Receiver moving forward.
LB Mike Hockhertz
Hockhertz was a key member of the Butchers defense last season, second on the team in tackles with 93, 2 tackles for loss, 4 sacks as well as 18 Pass Deflections which shows what this guy can bring to the squad. He can get it done at every level of the defense from stopping the run to also doing great work in the pass defense game. There was no doubt that we were keeping him to combine with Tucker Jr. and Bayley Jr.. The three should be pretty deadly as they all continue to develop together.
RB Farley Hank
Farley Hank is going to be one of the head Running Backs for the Chicago Butchers in the upcoming season. Last season, he was ran as the Fullback as he had 164 rushes for 646 yards, and 4 touchdowns while also catching 34 balls for 376 yards and 1 touchdown. I would love to see more from this guy. I think there's a lot to learn and uncapped potential to really maximize what this guy can do. I am looking forward to seeing more from Hank and really getting him into the system.
QB Rose Jenkins
When we looked at our team, even though Jenkins is retiring, there really is no one out there to bridge the gap between a rookie and Rose. We thought about running a rookie out in their rookie year, which we are not afraid of doing, but there just was no one to replace her. We looked around the league for a short-term replacement in case we lost her, but we decided bringing her back was the best decision. She can spend time helping anyone we bring in whether it's a position change or through the draft. There is so many possibilities where we could go, but Rose is someone that could easily bring us to our next guy. We really need to keep Rose around and keep on the Butcher legacy. Jenkins had 24 Touchdowns last year and only 8 interceptions. We want to keep that moving forward.
S Jack Rambo
We will definitely be keeping our active safety, Jack Rambo. Rambo had 73 tackles last season, 8 sacks, 2 Interceptions, and 2 pass deflections, one of those coming back for a Touchdown. This was a no-brainer because we needed to keep one person right in the secondary. We think Rambo will have a huge impact on our defense and his earning is something we just cannot lose for free. Rambo is a huge part of the defense, so keeping him was a must.
DT Thorian Skarsgard
We thought about it, but I guess we should keep Skarsgard. Despite being a little bit older, he is a huge part of our defense. He is right in the center of the line and will be a huge part to go with Smirh. Why would you bother trying to run up the middle? He is also a big part of the War Room, so we absolutely love his player and the guy is cool too. He had a good season last season with 4 Tackle for loss, 8 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 47 tackles. We expect a lot out of him, so we would be silly to lose him for nothing.
CB Xerxes Ridley
Ridley is someone that the sim loves, so obviously we will keep him. He's a really good corner and losing steelsound and Castle to retirement, we need a cornerback. He will be a good player to keep and bolster the defense.
