Late Night Vibes – Vol I
As the days continue to drag on, one after the other, I find myself reflecting; It is dark and empty outside, and I can feel the weight of my eyelids clearly. I am sure that many others here are like myself, they can feel the crushing weight of the night calling, yet persist to remain up, whether it be for work, education, or simply because we cannot bring ourselves to end what has been yet another day in the dregs of isolation.
As the days blend together, and my mind scrapes the bottom of the barrel for a means to keep myself from going stir crazy, I find that it would be useful to express myself in this league, and by virtue, open myself up to allow others to express themselves. Ladies and gentlemen, and everyone on that wonderful technicolour rainbow in between, it is quarter past eleven PM, we are forty-five minutes away from my birthday, so close those curtains, get into some comfy clothes and welcome to Late Night Vibes. Through this would-be-series, I am hoping to engage in a different topic, preferably one that someone out there would like me to engage in.
Now of course, this isn’t a topic that I have broached before, nor is it one that I have asked others to help me with, but this will be fairly generic. Through this week, I will be going through what I have been doing to keep my mind occupied, and well, I’ll just say now that I’ll see where it goes from here.
I have to relate this to the league and American football in some way, so I’ll start by saying that Madden and Draft Day Sports have really come through clutch for me. I recently started a new franchise mode with the intention of taking the most pathetically located team and relocating them and making a great new franchise. Of course, I am talking the Los Angeles Chargers. God, has there ever been a relocation blunder as bad as the Chargers’ move to Los Angeles? At least the Rams made it to the Superbowl. The Chargers’ move to Los Angeles made them the third most relevant team in Southern California behind the Rams, and the now Las Vegas Raiders. I am willing to bet that the Raider diaspora in Los Angeles is still greater than the Chargers fan base there. I digress, the Chargers are a mess. I concocted a plan to relocate them to another major city in the West and actually have them mean something. However, I ran into an early problem; if I relocate them to Chicago, they can be the Tigers.
Tigers are fuckin’ rad.
So here I am, with my team that is all ready to become Portland bound, but the cool animal is in Illinois. It’s a real conundrum, I’ll tell ya. So of course, being the resourceful bastard that I am, I am now in a multi-step program to try and move the Chargers to Chicago so that they can become the Tigers, wait three years until the game lets me move them again, and then go to Portland, so we can be in the West, and not have to play second fiddle to another team, whether it be the Rams, the Bears or even a football team like the Los Angeles Galaxy. So yeah, I’m in step ‘delete the franchise and go back’ after I accidentally went to Portland on the first relocation. I will say though, the one Chargers fan in Los Angeles was really up in arms about it.
I was also thinking of adding all the NSFL teams into Madden 08 and just adding them to the regular league. I think that’d be fun, if only very time consuming.
I have also been trying to keep my creative mind occupied with planning and writing stuff for my D&D Campaign. Are any of you guys in campaigns right now? Tell me about them, I want to hear and definitely not steal ideas that I can poorly execute in my own campaign.
Finally, I’ve had to start my research for my master’s thesis. If there are any Edward III mega fans out there, feel free to chat with me about chivalry, gab with me about garters, educate me on Edward, pull up on the Plantagenets, guys I have so many of these, please, just enable me to talk about Edward III and get paid for it. Would it work if I said that he would have been the greatest quarterbacks of the 14th century?
So I think I’ll end it there. If you enjoyed this, please feel free to suggest any topics you’d like for me to cover on a future edition of Late Night Vibes. If you didn’t enjoy it, well then, I hope it makes for good sleeping material.
Happy Birthday to me.
Open the blinds and make yourself presentable, you are now leaving Late Night Vibes.
