Ready to be Graded
My name is Philip Stein. I'm a Kicker/Punter and I just got signed by the Minnesota Grey Ducks and I'm taking questions.
Why did you decide to pursue being a kicker?
I chose Kicker due to 1 my lack of athleticism, 2 the lack of appreciation for Kickers and Punters and I want to do my best to improve that appreciation.
Any goals for the season?
Since it's my first year in the NSFL (well the DSFL for now) I just want to build team chemistry and do my best when given the opportunity. I know there's going to be a learning curve and I just have to work as hard as possible and see where it leads me.
Any goals for your long-term career?
I think everyone's goal should be to be the best to ever play at their position and that's definitely my goal. I can't control that as much as I can control what type of player I am. I want to be known as a team player and if possible spend all my time in the NSFL with 1 team. When it's all said and done I want to be remembered as both a great player and a great man.
What is your take, is a hot dog a sandwich?
A hot dog is only a sandwich if you separate the bun into 2 pieces. A sandwich has bread on the top and bottom.
Who’s your kicking idol?
My kicking Idol is Jason Hanson because he spent all 20 years with the Lions. My Punting Idol is Pat McAfee because he's not afraid to have a laugh while playing.
Who’s your favorite DE on the Grey Ducks named Mario VonPebbles?
Definitely Mario VonPebbles. I love Cocoa Pebbles and Fruity Pebbles so I'm sure I'll love Mario VonPebbles.
What’s your longest field goal ever?
My longest official Field Goal is 60 yards which I hit my senior year of college but I've hit from as far back as 65 in practice.
Have you ever been to Lithuanian prison?
No, although I imagine that would be an interesting experience.
What would be your weapon of choice in a zombie apocalypse?
If they're zombies who are killed like normal people then I'm going sniper rifle and pistol but if they're killed by being destroyed I'm going shotgun all day.
Who would win in a fight: Dewalt27 or CLGRampage?
Dewalt27 all day and I'm not saying that just because he's my GM (yes I am)
What are you most looking forward to in the NSFL?
Definitely the locker room. Getting to meet and hang out with my teammates is the best part of the experience.
What's the first thing that you remember kicking?
A kickball back in gym class in first grade. Luckily I've gotten much better since then.
How long have you been around the league?
I joined the league 2 days ago so I'm just happy to be here. Hopefully, I stick around a while and can do more of these.
Is there a specific NSFL team that you're hoping to get a chance to kick for?
Hopefully, this answer won't bite me in the ass come draft time. New Orleans has my favorite Logo and Arizona has my favorite color scheme so those 2 are definitely up there. Ultimately though I want to go to the best Locker Room.
Can you kick a ball over them mountains over there?
I wish I was Uncle Rico. (I Haven't seen the movie just that scene)
If you were tasked with building your very own candy bar, how would you describe it to me?
Rice Krispie treats with Sprinkles in the shape of a candy bar.
Would you rather be known as the hero or the villain?
I play to the crowd so I'm a hero at home games and a villain at away games.
How do you do under pressure?
Really well. If I didn't do well under pressure then I wouldn't be here
Would you rather have nipples for fingers or fingers for nipples?
Fingers for Nipples. Nipples for fingers would be like not having fingers at all and I couldn't live without fingers.
Are you ready to join the kicker mafia?
Absolutely. Sign me up right now.
Any teammates you find to be really interesting?
I haven't met all my teammates but of the ones I have, everyone seems pretty normal. Ducky is cool but I don't know any of the other players enough to say for sure.
How has the learning curve been for you?
It's been pretty easy thanks to help from Bex and a bunch of other people.
What do you like most about this league as a whole?
I like that a lot of people have been willing to help me out. This definitely would've been harder without their help.
1. You've been with the Ducks for roughly 6 hours now. What's your initial impression of the team?
People seem really friendly. I hope to get to know them better in the future. They've also been really helpful with any questions I have.
2. Do you have any goals for yourself this season?
I want to prove that I'm the hardest working man in the draft. I can't decide how much playing time I get just what I do with that time. I'm going to do my best and see what happens come draft time.
3. If you had the choice between just punting or kicking which would you choose and why?
Punting no doubt. I was originally just going to be a punter until I learned that it was the same position here. My goal is to spread the message that Punters are People Too. #FortheBrand
4. What is the worst thing you would do for a Klondike bar?
Not a fan of Klondike bars but switch it to a donut and murder isn't off the table. (I'm kidding...kind of)
5. What is the weirdest combination of food that you enjoy that most people would think is weird?
BBQ Chicken Pizza is my best guess. That or Bacon Bits on my Cream Cheese Bagels.
