I originally intended to write this article right after the S23 NSFL draft as I did with my similar article about S22 draft class. However, me getting a new league job and some other things distracted me from writing that article and the idea of writing it kinda got buried. However, now that a huge double media bonus is hanging over my head I'm going to write this article however late as it is and celebrate the members of S23 Birddogs class and the success they had in their respective careers so far. Now, let’s move on to the main stuff.
Draftees
Round 1, 2nd overall: Tyler Montain(Amidships)
Tyler Montain was by far one of the best players in the whole draft by the time of DSFL draft. The Birddogs drafted Tyler hoping that he will be the next centerpiece to the strong Birddogs defensive line. And Tyler surely met that expectation. During his tenure with the Birddogs, he acted as a dominant presence in the defensive line, and played a huge role in keeping the Birddogs defense strong even after most of the starters from their inaugural season were snatched by NSFL teams. After his rookie season, Tyler was drafted at 2nd overall spot yet again in the NSFL draft, this time by the Baltimore Hawks. The Hawks immediately called him up to help with the defense. Tyler has been doing good in the NSFL so far, especially as a rookie.
As a user, I think there will be no dissents over the statement that Amids is one of the best users from this draft class. We at the Birddogs war room liked him from the start, and knew we’d be using our highest pick on either him or syl. And I'm so glad that we drafted him and had the opportunity to interact with him. He’s super active in everywhere league related, already got a league job, and is a very crucial part of Birddogs war room now. Amids also recruited several family and friends of his to the NSFL, and one of them became a Birddog. He’s also a very pleasant individual to talk with, and is one of my favorite guys in the whole of Birddogs locker room. I really hope amids keeps up his good work, as he got potential to be one of the best both as a player and a user.
Round 2, 10th overall: Hingle Mccringleberry (Jmac and Cheese)
The Second pick of the Birddogs' S23 draft was used on linebacker Hingle McCringleberry. Hingle was regarded as one of the best linebackers in the board at draft time. And he certainly lived up to that expectation in his season with the Birddogs, as he put up monstrous stats with 17 tackles for loss, 16 passes deflected and 5 sacks. His dominance in the DSFL got the attention of NSFL scouts, and Hingle got drafted to the Chicago Butchers with the 13th overall pick in the second round of S23 NSFL draft, joining him with many Birddogs alumnus playing for the Butchers. Hingle is currently having a great season with the Butchers, recording 100 tackles, 7 sacks and 13 passes deflected. That’s a number worth mentioning in the awards season.
As a user, Jmac is a regular face in the Birddogs locker room. He had been a fun presence in there ever since he first set foot in there, and still hanging out as an ‘old dog' (Dallas version of alumni) even though his player is not on the team anymore. He’s a pleasant individual to talk to, and a big part of the locker room culture that we have at Dallas.
Round 3, 18th overall: Tomage McGullager (Philliesphan)
Tomage McGullager was originally a tight wnd when the Birddogs drafted him. However, he agreed to change positions and become a cornerback to benefit both him and the team. That decision proved mutually beneficial as Tomage had a good season featuring a 2 interceptions, 13 passes deflected, a fumble forced and recovered. That was a good number for a rookie cornerback in the DSFL. After his rookie season, Tomage was Drafted in the 4th round to the Austin Copperheads with the 37th overall pick. Copperheads sent Tomage back down to the Birddogs, so he’s currently playing his second season with them. And he’s been doing a good job at that. So far Tomage had been the cornerstone of Birddogs secondary defence, while getting a pick and 19 deflected passes for himself. He'll be looking up to the NSFL in the near future.
As a user, Philliesphan is a user whom I have multiple connections with. He is a GM in PBE, and we happened to scout each other around the same time. He was a fun guy to be with, and was a great presence in both the Birddogs locker room and the Rougadores locker loom in the PBE. Even though now we don’t interact as much we did because of me going inactive in PBE and phillies not hanging out in our locker room as much as he did before, I still got good memories with him, and I hope that he will hang out more frequently with us like he did before.
Round 4, 26th overall: Raphael D'Alcott (Kenitoh)
Like Tomage McGullager who was mentioned right before, Raphael D'Alcott also changed position after he was drafted to the Birddogs. Originally, he was a wide receiver. However, he changed position to safety because of various reasons such as team needs, playing time, and positional need up in NSFL level. After switching, Raphael had a stellar rookie season featuring 3 interceptions and 10 passes deflected. After that performance, Raphael got a lot of attention from NSFL scouts, and ended up being drafted to the Sarasota Sailfish with the 8th overall pick, making a big jump from his draft position in the DSFL draft. After drafting him the Sailfish called Raphael up to help with their secondary defence. And it seems like he's having a good season so far with 4 sacks and 3 deflected passes.
As a user, Kenitoh is a person that I like very much. He was one of the biggest steal pick users in the whole draft in my opinion, and he worked his way through being recognized as one. The fact he was active everywhere goes without saying, and he was very, very passionate about being a better player and a better user. He wrote some great media pieces, and always strived to improve his build in order to optimize his performances. And the best thing among them all was he thanked us- that is the GMs and other war room members- after all that effort he put into improving himself. If I have anything to say about it, Kenitoh is the one that sould be thanked by us. He gave us a great performance as a player, and improved our locler room culture greatly as a user. He brought new fighting spirit and passion to the team, and had other members try to improve themselves. So I wasn't that surprised when I heard Kenitoh's player going 8th overall. He earned that spot and recognition.
