Iyah Blewitt - Kickin it (1,578 words Ready to grade)
The day started like usual. Iyah woke up and prepared breakfast for the big day ahead. It was draft day, his day. The 2nd annual draft was about to take place, one of the biggest and deepest draft the league had seen. Iyah couldn't wait to get ready and prepare for the big day ahead. He took his best buddy Finn (his dog) out for walk and had that extra bounce in his step. Today was the day. The day he would spend the rest of his life doing the thing he loved more than anything else. Kickin it.

His parents realized this talent when he was young, the drive and talent for kicking things. When he was just a small child he first developed this uncanny kicking ability when playing with his brother. They had a game they like to call "Kick the baby" and it was a blast. This was Iyah's first taste of the greater purpose and lifestyle he wanted.

Don't worry though! His brother (Arya Blewitt) has since become a top tier trainee with the pirate circus show at Canada's Wonderland, doing what he does best, being shot out of cannons!
A more than colourful family to be sure. Iyah was enrolled from a young age into soccer to start. Football being a bit pricey on the equipment side, and it's immediate lack of access for younger players in the local area had him having to settle for soccer to start. He didn't mind it, and enjoyed it quite a bit, but he loved the corner kicks, the penalty shots, and stoppage of play kick offs. The running, meh not so much, but if it allowed him to kick more, he was all down for it. Iyah knew what he wanted though at the end of the day and it was to play football.
Something about the idea of being able to kick a ball as hard as you wanted all the time whenever called upon. To place it in the perfect spot on a field goal, or a punt or an onside kick, there was a science to it, and he loved every little thing about it. Iyah wanted to play so badly that he took matters into his own hands. The absolutle seconds he could earn even a dollar he started to work and save. Newspaper routes, bicycle ice cream sales, cleaning up garbage around businesses and cutting lawns it didn't matter what it took as long as he could save. Save he did. He found himself a few leagues around the city, hit up the local play it again, and started to build the gear he needed to play. But he wanted the most important part of it all to be as high quality as possible. He had his eyes on the prize.

The Adidas Copa Mundial.
If he was to be the best, he had to beat the best. After finally reaching his goal, he took part in every training camp he could afford, every league, pick up, he did it all. Finally after completing highschool he attended Queens University in Kingston, Ontario were he was picked out by a scout happening to just be down visiting his niece. This was the random opportunity he was waiting for to get his shot. Lets be honest, Football isn't a big scouting combine in Canada, and for Iyah to get even a shread of notice was MASSIVE for his career.
So here we are the Eve of the S2 Draft. Iyah is dressed to impress, ready to go. Having just picked out his new favourite suit.

He was ready to go for the evening and finally get the call....
But this is when things started to go horribly wrong for the young Kicker. First as he ran out to hop into his car the hood started to spew smoke everywhere....

OH NO NO NO NO NO NOT NOW, Please not now.....how could this happen now of all times. He was lost, no idea what to do. "I knew I should have paid for that tune up instead of this new god damn suit!!!" *enter a lot of explicit words*
He had no idea what to do. No money to spare, nothing to draw from, he started to panic. He called any he could, but it was draft night, everyone had their phones off and were watching the TV. What was he supposed to do? He started to google the shit out of the fastest way to get there by public transport. *BEEEEEEOOOORRRRRRRRNNNNN*
His phone died.....he forgot to charge it in the excitement of the day. He ran inside, the parents, maybe they left their keys for their car in the garage somewhere, DAMN IT! I should have just stayed with them at the hotel next to the draft venue. ARE YOU F----- Okay, okay, we still have time, think think think.....
https://youtu.be/j7DVh9IPHqM
We were sunk. No where to go. You'd think with all the modern tech and everything around us something could be made to happen, but without his cell phone, he was dead in the water. At least a 30 min run home at full pace to even get to his charger....this would not be his day.
So thats how we are, where we are folks. Iyah Blewitt enters this season as what I'd assume a free agent, to sign where ever he is picked up and back to prepping for the S3 entry draft. Sure he doesn't have the dash and flash of a QB - RB - WR, but he still can deliver when it's needed most. If you need a kicker, Iyah is your man.
Lets have a look at his current competition for the eventual record books....
Baltimore Hawks - Turk Turkleton - 148 TPE - Power
Power: 80
Accuracy: 79
Intelligence: 65
Strength: 25
Agility: 30
Speed: 30
Arm: 30
As far as player growth goes, Turkleton is #3 on the list for starters in the league. Having a Power first mentality will have this kicker going deep with the majority of his kicks. Just a step or two behind the next two on the list, Turkleton looks like a solid player for the Hawks. Not an impossible mountain to climb, Iyah has a lot of catching up to do, and Turkleton will currently be his first major hurdle to attempt to leap if it's at all possible. With his 1st season he was able to complete 96.2% of his kicks for the extra point and blast a 55 Yard field goal as well. Coming in at 87.5% for accuracy of Field goals has him currently (but just barely) holding onto the 2nd spot. Turkleton is the current full season bar for Blewitt and only time will tell if he can pass him.
Colorado Yeti - Bojo Kicksit - Power - 156 TPE
Power: 81
Accuracy: 80
Intelligence: 60
Strength: 25
Agility: 30
Speed: 30
Arm: 20
- Next on the list is the 2nd highest TPE Kicker so far in this young league. Bojo Kicksit was just behind Turkleton in Field Goal Accuracy sitting at 87%. Add in his extra point convertion and it isn't quite as sparkling as Turkletons (92.3%). Kicksit seems to be just a few steps behind Turkleton right now, and with his strength being Power as well, he just managed a 50 Yard Field goal this year. Still looking to be a great kicker for the Yeti, Kicksit will have to...kick it up...a notch if he wants to catch Turkleton sitting just in front of him right now.
Philadelphia Liberty - Stephen Harris - Balanced - 174 TPE
Power: 80
Accuracy: 80
Intelligence: 70
Strength: 25
Agility: 35
Speed: 45
Arm: 20
The best of the best when it comes to current potential. Stephen Harris still holds the best current potential of the big 3 for kickers. Unfortunately I couldn't find any direct stats to help write about Harris, but his kicker has probably the most balanced stats of the big 3, and it would make sense as that is his strength. Hopefully looking to make an impact this season and challenge the other 2 kickers on the stats sheet, I'd expect a big season from Harris this season.
Yellowknife Wraiths - Jason Jerek - Power - 50 TPE
Power: 75
Accuracy: 71
Intelligence: 50
Strength: 25
Agility: 30
Speed: 30
Arm: 20
Arizona Outlaws - Adrienne Nugent - Accurate - 50 TPE
Power: 65
Accuracy: 78
Intelligence: 60
Strength: 15
Agility: 30
Speed: 30
Arm: 20
Las Vegas Legion - Brandon Walsh - Balanced - 50 TPE
Power: 70
Accuracy: 72
Intelligence: 65
Strength: 25
Agility: 35
Speed: 40
Arm: 20
Orange County Otters - Joey Langdon - Balanced - 50 TPE
Power: 75
Accuracy: 75
Intelligence: 55
Strength: 20
Agility: 35
Speed: 40
Arm: 20
San Jose - Sabercats - Kentillan Laces - Balanced - 50 TPE
Power: 71
Accuracy: 71
Intelligence: 55
Strength: 20
Agility: 35
Speed: 50
Arm: 30
Iyah Blewitt - UFA - Accurate - 52 TPE
Strength: 15
Agility: 30
Arm: 20
Intelligence: 70
Speed: 30
Kick Power: 70
Kick Accuracy: 72
- After running through all the competition one thing is clear for Iyah. The door is open for him to still nab a spot on a few rosters and make an impact. Maybe not built the way many of the other kickers are, he will have the time to build himself up in preparation for the S3 draft and hopefully catch those ahead of him in due time. Until then, Say hi to your new kicker in the league!
