Pack Opening Review. It's finally here. Our own trading card system. Let's see what there is in this bad boy. It better be worth the 500k. Not that I will be mad. I can vomit words in media and make it back. Let's get straight to it!
I see it has a nice cover. Yellowknife legendary quarterback, Cooter Bigsby. The package seems good, a legend is in the cover, it sounds promising. But let's see what's in there.
The first card is... Alfredo Crisco. Fantasy rule #1. Never draft Crisco. He is the kicker to take the field for a field goal the least amount of time. And when Austin struggles to get in scoring range, he is even more underused. All in all, solid player, still playing, he is an Ultimus winner in Season 20.
Next is linebacker Wayne Howyanow. He plays for Philly. Honestly, I don't know much about him, but he was drafted in our league in Season 18, by the Copperheads. Making a search in the forums, I couldn't find anything about how he moved from Austin to Philly, so I assume since he wasn't called up, he went to Philly once his contract with Austin expired. Scrap that, he was traded for a draft pick. He'd had a solid career in Philadelphia so far.
Let's look at the next card. Quinn Hughes, a safety. He was drafted by Arizona in Season 22, still developing in the DSFL, playing his last year of eligibility there with the London Royals.
Thus far I have pulled one backup, Howyanow, and two starters, Crisco and Hughes. I guess the high rarity pulls are going to be ridiculously hard to get. I have heard of some people getting them. I guess it's the luck of the draw. Let's see what the next one is... Fair rubs ladies and gentlemen. The next card is fair rubs. Backup OL Samuel Bakhtiari. He was drafted in Season 18, I don't remember by who, I am sorry, but he has ended up in the very competitive this season Sailfish, who are 8-3, 2nd in the ASFC, one win behind the Colorado Yeti, and THREE wins above the reigning champions, Yellowknife Wraiths! Fair rubs are being administered people. Slowly, but steadily.
YESSIR! It's only a Star player, but it's the first one, so let me have my moment. It's the storied running back, Apollo Reed. He had a solid career, for both teams he played, winning multiple Ultimus Bowls. Three to be precise. I think those packs will be a good thing. There are some amazing cards out there, but I am after only three. All-Pro Kroustis, S22 DTotY Kroustis, and S23 Ultimus Winner Kroustis. You got it. I am after my own cards, so if you got them, hit me up to set up a trade when the system is enabled.
And let's flip the last one to wrap this up. It's already been quite a while. The last card of the six-pack of beers... ehm sorry, of Dotts ISFL cards is...Grayson Kuusela. Member of the Ultimus winning team of Austin, back in Season 20. Drafted by Baltimore in Season 12, traded to NOLA, taken by Austin in the Season 16 Expansion Draft, where he ended his career in S22.
Overall, it was a mediocre pull, but that's what you are supposed to expect from this. There is a reason it's called "Rarities". Let's see what we pulled so far in the series. I know it's the first episode, but I'll have that "table" at each episode. Just to check where we stand so far, relative to the odds of each rarity. I am not sure about duplicates however. We'll deal with it when we get to it. Now, the table:
Cards Today: 6
Legend (Blue): 0 - 0%
All-Pro (Red): 0 - 0%
Star (Gold): 2 - 33%
Starter (Silver): 2 - 33%
Backup (Bronze): 2 - 33%
And that's it for this one folks. I will be back tomorrow with the next pack! Peace!
