I definitely didn’t forget that I’d written this so
Welcome to the Yellowknife S25 Awards. Not everyone can win the league wide awards so each season we survey the team to find our own winners for awards on the team! Thanks to everyone who voted in this:
Offensive player of the year
Also Receiving votes
Kai Sakura
Acura Skyline became the focal point of the Yellowknife offence with 489 yards rushing and more impressively, 1188 yards through the air! Skyline was a running back putting up WR receiving yards and his 12 total TDs helped the team immensely. Kai Sakura has become a true WR1 in Yellowknife with 1258 yards and 10 TDs. While splitting catches with Skyline, Kross and Walker, Sakura still came out as a top WR in the league.
Defensive Player of the Year
Also Receiving votes
Mervin Leonard
Douglas Quaid
Nero Alexander has aged like a fine wine and ran away with the DEotY award. His 23 TFLs is second all time in the league and top for a DE. He was 5 ahead of second placed Ocewilder league wide and add 68 tackles and 7 sacks to go along with it. Mervin Leonard led the league in PDs with 34, 7 ahead of the rest but his 1 int sadly meant he didn’t win CBotY. A rock in the Yellowknife defence along with LB Douglas Quaid whose 26 PDs and 10 sacks were very respectable numbers and would put him in the LBotY conversation in many seasons.
Team MVP
Also Receiving votes
Colby Jack
Acura Skyline
Kai Sakura narrowly missed out on offensive player but wins the team MVP! When Yellowknife traded up for Sakura in S23 they knew they had a steal, but Sakura proves that he’s everything they thought he was and more. Colby Jack gets a mention here as although Yellowknife narrowly missed playoffs, he had a great season and will surely get even better next season.
Most Improved player
Also Receiving votes
Magnus Valdyr
Kai Sakura
Zee Rechs is the first TE Yellowknife had used for many seasons when he was drafted in S22 and he began to break out this season. This season he did everything with some of the bets in the league blocking for a TE, a couple of touchdowns in the air and even a rushing TD! The future is bright for Rechs. Valdyr seems to get better and better every season and Sakura had his true WR1 season.
Rookie of the year
Also Receiving votes
Blago Kakot
Brach Thomaslacher
Rookies are incredibly important in developing the future of the team and all 4 of them had excellent seasons. Dan Foster came in in a difficult position for rookies but performed admirably with 10 PDs 1 Int and 77 tackles. Kokot was very effective in both the kicking and punting game, only missing 1 Xp and 1 FG all season and averaging an impressive 46.7 yards punting. Thomaslacher put himself in the right spot all season with 127 tackles even if he had less “big” stats than his partner Quaid.
Performance of the year
Colby Jack – W5
A runaway winner for this award as Colby Jack lit up the Berlin Fire Salamanders to the tune of 318 yards and 5 TDs. While he just missed out on a nomination for league wide PerformanceOTY, the Yellowknife players know what’s up as he ran away with this award with the only other vote seemingly a typo.
Future ISFL MVP
Also Receiving votes
Jameson Vermillion
Colby Jack had a stellar year and was unfortunate to miss out on nominations for the league wide awards. With nearl 4500 yards and a 24/12 ratio, he nearly pulled himself to his first playoff appearance but just missed out. With the team around him getting better all the time, it should only be a matter of time before Colby wins the MVP award. Jameson Vermillion came into the team mid way through the year but should be one of the next great running backs for Yellowknife.
Most Dedicated Member
Also Receiving votes
Arkz
Darkness Rising
Colabear
A lot of users put a lot of time into the league and the team but MDM goes to Shadyshoelace again! The former GM still puts in the work and is one of the most appreciated members of the team. Arkz came in as a rookie and made a big impact in addition to now veterans Darkness Rising and Colabear always being down to help the team out.
Locker Room MVP
Also Receiving votes
Murtsi
deadlunatic
ZootTx
Uber has come into the team full steam ahead and it shows by his winning of the Locker Room MVP. While his player wasn’t called up yet, Uber was a joy to have in the locker room and surely will be for seasons to come. Murtsi was sorely missed while he was away from the league but is always a pleasure to have him back (along with his adorable pup). Rookie deadlunatic and TE ZootTX also played big parts in the LR this year and this was shown by their votes.
Additional shoutouts go to UberBJ, for his excellent graphics work in both the game balls department and his impeccable gif game, and Cooter Bigsby who was nominated for every award but sadly has not been seen since his Ultimus Victory so couldn’t win.
As I forgot to submit this at the time, the next edition will be coming soon!
