As of writing this media piece the fantasy draft for the next season has just started. I am really excited every time the draft starts, but i couldn't help myself. I mean the concept of this whole construct seems a bit surreal. Just a few days ago i was talking with a colleague from work about sports, especially about football as the playoffs in the other league are currently on the way. Anyway, somehow i ended up talking about the isfl and told him about all the stuff happening here. When i got to the point of fantasy he was absolutly mindboggled that we are playing fantasy football with fantasy players. I mean, yeah... thinking about it - it kind of is weird for people who are not familiar with the concept of a sim league. To be fair, at first it also felt weird to me but it's fun.
There was only one thing that i am thinking about everytime i look into the ISFL fantasy sheet. There are no individual points for defensive players.
Having created a linebacker in Kackpoo, i wanted to see how he fared compared to the rest, so i took it into my own hands and experimented a bit.
Well, to be honest, it wasn't that much experimenting, more 15 minutes google searching on how to calculate points on defense.
I ended up on going with a format that was recommended by PFF.
The template for my calculations are coming from here.
In values for the calculation are as followed
Tackles: 1.5 points
TFL: 2 points
Sacks: 4 points
Interceptions: 6 points
PD: 1.5 points
FF: 4 points
FR: 4 points
TD: 6 points
Safety: 10 points
Blocked Kick: 6 points
The challenge here definitely was to somehow assign proper values to make sure that
Without much further explanation here are the top performers from every position.
There is also a google sheet where you can see the whole list in detail.

I want to point out that Linebackers, Safeties and Cornerbacks seem to be on par in terms of accumulating points. So the calculation seems about right for these positions. Defensive Ends are falling a bit behind with points and Defensive Tackles generally generate less points due to the nature of their position.
All in all i am really confident how it turned out and i am thinking about continuing this segment over the course of the next season.

The challenge here definitely was to somehow assign proper values to make sure that
- the fantasy points should be comparable to those from the players on offense
- all players on defense should be able to rack up decent points
